  1. The last week or so Mrs likes to look at our pretty ex PMs page, and she clicks a pic she likes, now when i FB my friends ect in Europe they also get pics of ex PM, and anything i write turns into tinglish when i post it, if i refresh the page it reads ok, i can guess what the problem might be, just wondered if any others have had the same? Cheers,,

  2. Its quite a well known fact that big truck [2 12v 600 amp cranking power batteries have a hard life] i got many a call out with the wrecker in cold weather to tow start or jump start trucks, when i got there 80% would start without help, it seemed to me at the time that the shock of a big discharge would wake up the sulphating plates, causing bubbles to rise in the cells giving off an acidic gas, once this had cleared, the batteries would start the engine,

Two things cause this, overcharging and old batteries, so OP, what you need is a heavy discharge tester on your battery, voltmeter is next to useless for testing a batteries condition, good battery shops should do this free, you can watch the gauge on it yourself, if it stays in the green for 30 seconds, its good, but if after 4/5 seconds it starts going down to red, your battery is finished, and at the same time, get the alternator output checked, you could do this with a voltmeter, hold the engine at about 1200rpm, check reading, switch on headlights, check VM, has it coped? then switch on more stuff, is it still holding same reading, if so, alternator is ok, if not, it needs an overhaul or replacing,,

Engineers?? i once on here told a fella how to check his toyota pick up clutch for wear and slipping, IE, handbrake on, engage 2 or 3rd gear, heel and toe up to 1500rpm, let clutch up slowly, if the clutch is good it will stall the engine, if not its worn out, a certain "engineer" on here told him not to bother with this, although this procedure is in the toyota workshop manual,, some "engineer" ha ha,,

  3. OK guys I have a plea for info from a friend. His trees are getting attacked by small snails. They are eating into the bark and then the latex seeps out and is hard to stop. How can he get rid of them?

I had this problem with Papaya a few years ago, short of kicking the trunks to shake them loose, and the fruit at times, they were burrowing into the ripening fruit, the solution i came up with was buying some 1 kilo tins of red water pump grease and painting it round the trunk base, it took a long time to do 1200 odd plants but it worked, the snails couldnt grip on a slippery surface, and the grease never hurt the trees,

Reading the recent posts im glad i didnt get into rubber, but it seems the mrs wants to get into a consortium for selling young rubber plants, ive warned her against it and shown her the posts on here, also other sites where synthetic rubber is now being used a lot in tyres, but on the other hand if oil resources go down over the years needed for making synthetic rubber, natural rubber will be needed again,

Any views on this dilema appreciated, thanks,,

  4. Thai food?

The old saying is that you will eat a peck of dirt before you die, but surely not in one day??

I avoid thai food at all costs, im even loathe to eat fresh fruit and veg from the market, because of the overuse of chemicals, but i do, ive got to eat,!!

Years ago, on a visit to a thai resturant, i needed a pee, the toilet was in the middle of the kitchen and it stank, it was a stand and deliver with no cleaning things, on the way back to the table i cancelled the order and we left, now if we go out, i have a home cooked meal first, the Mrs is ok, like most Thais, she has a bovine stomach,

  5. Quite right Ace, an older engine will suck ecess oil vapour into the servo, the rubber gets weak and has a jerky action, on the other side of the rubber is the master cylinder, this side has a drain hole in case the MC leaks, if this is blocked, leaking brake fluid can also contaminate the rubber,

  6. CQ, Pull the suction pipe out of the brake servo, tape the end over, and go for a steady drive, does it feel better? if so, the diaphram in the servo is contaminated and needs replacing, a weak diaphram will make the brakes grab,,

  7. Yes, an interesting afternoons racing, Yourgaye did what he set out to do,came 1st, Redposa's pass on MM wasnt hard enough, shoulda pushed him to the line, but well done young man, WC 1st attempt,,,

J.Burgess, well done Jerry youve had a long and succesful career with the GOAT, Retire and rest on your laurels, you deserve it, and Please Vale46, come back next year with a fire in your belly,

  8. Perhaps MM is going to start looking around hiself a bit more now, for me, that was just desserts for having Dani off, MM is a pleasant enough fella, [lot more so than Moaner] hes just got to learn racecraft and race direction now hes with the big boys,,,

Well done indeed Tom, his first ever Championship and its a World Championship, A Brit on a Kawasaki winning made my weekend!!! Pity Shakey didnt get his 4th BSB title, conditions were crap at Brands Hatch,

  9. As Dani said, MM was on the limit, [or over] because he went off track as well, he hit Dani and thats it, TC cable being cut is inmaterial in my mind,

I see by Cals placings recently hes gonna have to used to that on the ducati next year,

Sam Lowes has won the WSS title and i think is moving up to WSB 2014.

Yep, Tom should be WC WSB on the 20oct barring total faliures, He deserves it, he hasnt had much help in the way of a team mate, like Laverty & Gunters who have pestered him all year.. Come on Grinner!!!!!!!!!

  10. Nice one Kwasaki, Ive had a chat with Joey,Carl,Mick Grant,Phil Read, Barry Sheene [TToposer]

I would like to ask Michael Dunlop if he is trying to keep the most TT wins in the Family, and John McPint if he can hold Michael at bay?

What do you fellas think of a TT world championship series? its been proposed, but outside of Ireland,IOM, Olivers Mount UK, Horwitz,Chech, i cant think of many other places that have real road circuits?

Bit worried about Tom, WSB Silverstone last weekend, he reckoned a more safe than sorry ride and to get some points is better than risking it, Spectators pay good money to see there hero race, Tom disapointed them, and me! If he loses the WC again this year by 2/3 points, we will know why,

  11. Ive come across this before, perhaps the engine changers left out the spacer plate between box and engine [if it has one?] it certainly sounds like the spigot shaft is to long and dragging in its flywheel housing, heat expansion frees this off,

To prove this, loosen off all box to engine bolts 1 turn and try, you will know imediatly what the problem is if it works as normal, dont drive it like this though!!

Whatever way you look at it, 1 or the other has to come out, inspect the end of the spigot shaft, if its shiny, grind a few mm off, inspect the clutch and flywheel for blue hotspots, renew as ness..

  12. Any one like to go to this? The stars move from table to table and chat with the fans,

Who would you like to chat with? Me, Phil Read,Michael Dunlop,Mick Grant,Stevie Baker and shake Agos hand,,

I would think my post got overlooked with the Sepang stuff, never mind, will try again, surely some of you blokes must have road race TT heroes you would like to meet?

    Thanks,,

  13. I dont really think converting to manual is an option, you will need a clutch pedal, the hydraulics or cable, a flywheel, clutch assembly, perhaps even a longer/shorter propshaft, mountings ect, and certain solenoids disconected or replaced,

You say that the oil is clean and pink, 700ks since, that might be a good sign or a bad one, means that the oil was changed because of problems before you bought the car,

Are there in squealing type noises as it takes up drive?
