  1. She had heaps of punters? ..... She was probably in a few films they sell at Pantip as well!

They would have to be 8mm films and she'd have a few miles on the clock now. DVD hadn't been invented then and I can't remember if VHS was out yet or not.

  2. I was in Patpong the night they filmed "Deer Hunter" scenes there. As another poster advised, the bar was the "Mississipi Queen". One of the dancers there actually appeared in the movie. She had heaps of business after that from punters who wanted their fifteen minutes of fame.

  3. Well it was expected. Simply awful. :o

The sooner we go home and sack the lot of them the better.

Bit harsh MB. If every English team was sacked after falling in to oblivion after one brief glimmer of greatness, English sport would be in a terrible mess. No more rugby, cricket, rugby league, soccer for instance. I can't ever see there being a world cup for tiddlywinks or conkers.

  4. How should ผู้ให้สัญญา and ผู้รับสัญญา be translated into English?

I understand the basic meaning of 'contract giver' and 'contract accepter', but are there any specific legal terms in English that can be used here?

The second term is almost always "the Contractor". The first one depends on the type of contract and how the terms are specified in the preamble. I have mostly seen it as "the Owner".

  5. are you implying that the Wallabies are sheepshagers, and what is the aussie convict doing to the sheep other than choking it.

Heavens no. I think the nice Wallaby is just giving it the Heimlich Manouvre to stop it choking.

On second thoughts, the second photo is probably just a Kiwi shepherd trying to to stop the lamb from choking.

Either that, or he is pulling its head around for a bit of mouth to mouth.

  6. My wife's father is a Saw Jaw in Prachuab Khirikhan. I've been hanging around the saw saws, saw jaws, kamnans, puu yai baans for years now and have never really understood the organizational structure, the pecking order, or the history. Anyone can educate me? Thanks.

My understanding is that a Saw Jaw is an elected member of a Provincial Assembly (Samachik Changwat = Saw Jaw), a Saw Saw is an elected member of the National Assembly (Samachik Supa = Saw Saw).

The pecking order in ascending order is:

    Puyai Baan (Village headman)

    Kamnan (Tambon headman)

    Saw Jaw

    Saw Saw

The actual power structure depends on who can their hands on the most cash in a particular province.

My transliteration is bad and a native Thai speaker would be able to give you better information.

Is Moly-D the same as molybdenum disulphide? We use that as a solid lubricant for different applications.

  8. Got that - Thanks! Ain't no shops renting out Motorbikes/Scooters in the town? Would be nice if there were a few places to choose from and a rough idea of the daily rate. :o

I don't think the Riverside actually rents out bikes themselves but I thought the manager (Am) might be able to steer you in the right direction. He is a keen motocross rider and would know all the bike shops in town. Lampang is a big student town and there scooters on the roads everywhere so a rental should be available. You might even be able to get one with a student attached.
