    It's a country of gangs. Half a dozen families control price fixing across a variety of areas. There is a Mafia of taxi drivers in each town; a BIB mafia in charge of protection/gambling/prostitution; the Army Mafia chopping and changing the Governments. Any attacks on members of the public (especially farangs) require a gang of seven minimum.

    Were the police not invited? If they banged up 5 farmers a day for firing the rice stubble the goals would be met in a week.

    Maybe things have worsened since mid-August. I played the age card & went to the front of the queue; luggage arrived on the 1st batch out. 25 minutes from landing I was outside.

    Many of them will be young men fleeing conscription. Bad news for ex-pat retirees who have been strutting their stuff, Travolta-like, for years.

    Thailand is 70 years behind civilised countries in their dealing with dogs. Thais will wear masks (but not helmets) through fear of infection yet allow millions of gallons of dog p1ss and thousands of kilos of dog <deleted> to be deposited on sois/school playgrounds and carparks DAILY!

    When you are up to your eyes in debt, Thais will convince their neighbours they are solvent by buying a new car.
