  1. You will know probably be swapped with pm's by hungry agents ...

You haven't stated your budget , or what area of samui you are after ..?

But in a nut shell , maybe 5 % on short term , but the trouble is if you arecstaying there once a month , this could conflict guest stays , and create void periods

There arevsome great rental companies here , and a few agents

Pm me if you want some independent advise

  2. Has anyone tried the new chippy that's appeared near the tyre place between Bank Rak & FV? Do they do takeaways?

If you are talking about the one near to the candle shop - it has been there a while. But - unobtrusive. Fish and chips - pies sandwiches ec.

I have not tried it, but I have a friend who swears by them. Good taste good value. Of course they do takeaways, apart from the 'all you can eat' places I thought that everyone does. This F & C place does - for sure.

    Over 2years ... Homemade pies I think

  3. I think Thailand is actually becoming a much less cash dependent country. I notice considerably more people using and places accepting credit cards now than even just a couple years ago. Their ATM cards have had Visa / MC logos on them for a long time but I know in the past they haven't been able to be used like credit cards (slide / no pin entering or ordering online) but maybe that is finally starting to change.

Would be a move forward when family mart and 7 -11 start taking card payments

  4. You can mention the Bangkok Post but you cannot quote from it or link to it. So, for instance you could say I read in the bangkok post that a german guy got stabbed. They do not allow quotes or links, simple as that.

And BigC in the future would be nice to not have dead body photos, thanks, I just had my breakfast

the photo was from the paper so if you were close to a thai when you were eating then u might have seen it anyway.

A link is a link does not matter what language it is in. As thai people can read the paper. I did need some sort of evidence that this happened and that was the closed thing to it. what did u have for break fast anything interesting? i am starving

If you are starving, i here a member is offering free sea food tomorrow

  5. Translated from - http://www.asien-news.de/koh-samui/koh-samui-9/14949

Thailand A German tourist was killed on the island of Koh Samui in the early hours of Friday - he was stabbed.

Police said they received a report of a stabbing in the hospital at 1:30 am today. At the hospital, they found the body of 49 - year-old DC Thomas, a German national. The police found three stab wounds to the neck and head, and on either side of his ribs. There were also bruises on his body.

His wallet contained 4,000 baht cash, four credit cards and an international driving license. It seemed, therefore, not a robbery to act.

    Koh Samui

The hospital staff told police that Thomas was found next to a brand new DC bike on the Chaweng Cherngmont Road in Tambon Bo Phut. He was taken to hospital but died on the way. The doctor called the police after finding the knife wounds.

The investigation team believes the victim was in a bar or restaurant and got into a brawl. They believe Thomas was equal to flee on his bike, but fell where he was found.

  7. certain places should be mapped out as party high noise level zones a bit like when one get permission to build an air port.

the land office and tessa baan show map these zones out for fairness to business and property owers and developers. then again that would be too organised and this place is not famous for that

they do have zoning maps believe it or not, now people adhering to them is another question, planning permission/licences here are purely given out and considered on the basis of how large the brown envelope is

I have previously posted that map. You will have to wait till next week, Ill dig it out for you.

  9. The Akyra Chura Samui luxury resort will soon ban children from the hotel, reported etravelblackboardasia.com last week.

This will make the resort the second hotel in Thailand to accept bookings only for adults, next to Layana Resort & Spa in Krabi

From November 1, children under the age of 12 will not be allowed at the one-year-old resort which is located by Chaweng Noi beach on Koh Samui island. The hotel said this is because demand has grown quickly for more private, couples-oriented holiday experiences and the change was a very natural progression to which the resort was perfectly suited.
