Commerce insists no irregularity in Bt80,000 cheque

    The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Commerce Ministry insisted that there is no irregularity in the Bt80,000 cheque, in response to a National Anti-corruption Commission notice about a payment of an unusually small amount for a government-to-government rice deal.

It said in a statement issued today that the cheque carrying Bt80,000 was issued for the final cargo of 50 sacks of rice as part of a deal agreed on a large-scale purchase involving 20,000 sacks.

The statement was released at the press conference today at the ministry.

On a pay-before-transport condition under the statement said was a standard procedure, this unidentified buyer paid for the last shipment of around 50 100-kg sacks worth around Bt80,000 with this cashier’s cheque, said the statement. Most of the entire shipment had earlier been transported out of a warehouse, also under the pay-before-transport condition, and this shipment of the final 50 sacks was the last out, thus resulting in a cheque issued for its price of Bt80,000, added the statement.

This shipment had been sold as a wholesale involving an entire stack consisting 2,000 tonnes or rice, or around 20,000 sacks, under a separate condition. The Commerce Ministry’s statement said the pay-before-transport condition had been adopted for any purchases made either through government-to-government or individual deals, between private businesses and independent buyers, and the Commerce Ministry, but did not specify whether this deal in question was a G2G deal or other types of contracts.

So then where are the big checks?

  2. When is this house of cards going to collapse ? w00t.gif

Sadly, 90% of the Thais have no idea about, that "their" government is robbing them blind !

My secretary is a red shirt (from a red shirt political family). We always have fun and lighthearted discussions about politics. Lately though she never seems to know what is going on in the news and doesn't care to know. I would think there are a lot of confused reds out there now who consider the best option to claim ignorance.

  3. Chalerm openly insults the PMs assistants, and they counter with a whimsical and rather funny retort. This then fills Chalerm with enough piss and vinegar to put out an inferno. Then they have to apologize to him to which he smugly refuses. Quite a show!

  4. Suranand has moxie. He's not afraid of Chalerm, and IMO he was one of the younger educated advisers that encouraged the PM to move the former DPM to the side.

If he is not afraid... why is he apologizing?

it was a simple picture in reaction to Chalerms childish snide comments.

    Sent from my i-mobile i-STYLE Q6

Chalerm has lots of shoelaces and people who know how to use them.

  5. The article mentions a programme called audacity well this so called program is very low end almost amateur likeused by at home studio musicians .There are many programs that voice analysts use this is not one of them,

Agreed. That is a freeware program, and I do not think it will do anywhere near the job. A simple search on Google for "voice matching software" gives you much better choices.

  6. I agree that Porntip has blown her credibility.

It seems there is a huge push to make this murder a political one. This, despite there being a long, long line of people that this scumbag ripped off that are equally as likely to have had him bumped off.

Fair enough, but the supposed method in which thebBIB say he was killed and the suspect just don't jibe. That's why it makes it look like the police are hiding something.

  7. One can only imagine the climate at the big house , freezing if these so called tapes are correct, these meat heads must remember that not very much in the social media passes by without someone with the skills, blowing the walls down on somebody, the other way is to keep your mouth shut, it's shades of the Thaskin era , with getting the military off side, not a very good idea, in Thailand, these clowns each week have an issue to dance around , slowly digging their own graves ,unfortunately at the cost of the country coffers, and lucky with a weak opposition, will continue to entertain us for sometime yet , the PTP administration are inexperienced business men and ladies , who haven't a clue how to run a country.bah.gif

And the good lady's response to an awkward question on this subject is once again to simply walk away! In many circles that would be taken as an admission of the facts, but she seems to believe that dodging the question is an effective way of negating its impact...! Duuh...!!

How long before she has a little red stop sign she holds up when she doesn't like the question. Thaksin loved to do that.

  8. I don't know what the fake shock is all about. As if anyone didn't know that TS was interfering in the country's affairs.

The thing that really shocked me was this...."Some red-shirt scholars may also want further clarifications"

    The red shirts have scholars..!!!!

I'm about as far away from being a rd shirt sympathizer as it gets, but have Thai friends who are reds, who are intellectuals, hi so, etc. The general tie I see to my educated or rich red short friends is a love for Thaksin and as well certain ideas regarding monarchy stuff that probably should not be posted.

  9. How silly of me , I thought this Administration was flush with money , the money spent on the Prime Ministers junket tours of the world, would build three new prisons, as for raising money,to build and the issuing of bonds, this sort of stuff is for kiddies, no one in their right mind would invest in prisons, as for selling , and building new one's , at what price and how much to build , another grand plan for the sin bin and thought up at last Sunday's Chiang Mai BBQ.bah.gif

Sell prisons built on valuable land to build new ones on cheap land is an excellent idea. What do you find so wrong with that. It's a tactic that's used all over the world for various purposes.

I don't see how the bond idea would work though.

mai bpen rai, don't think too mut!

  11. There is plenty of information posted online by animal rights organisations about the animal abuse and corruption at the famous Tiger temple in Kanchanaburi Province which serves as the role model for all the other money spinning tiger temple scams that are proliferating around Thailand. Foreign volunteers have been infiltrated in and wrote detailed reports when they got home. Old and bad tempered beasts are slaughtered and sold for parts to the insane Chinese ED medicine trade and replaced with illegally smuggled tigers from Laos who are given the same names as the slaughtered cats to create the impression of longevity. Tigers are stupified before the tourists arrive and beaten and tortured after they have gone. Money they claim to be raising to build a new tiger sanctuary has been raised many times over but still no work has started on the sanctuary. And so it goes on with no action or even investigation from Thai authorities. There is too much money involved. You can see an interview of the abbot responding to the allegations on YouTube with so many jerks, twitches and sniggers that he would make a polygraph machine explode.

    Sickening but not surprising.

  12. Notice the papers today. The PTP's only interest is to shoot the messenger ms. Supa. Not a single PTP member has any interest in finding out about the corruption in the rice scam.

Worst of all, notice the deafening silence from the red shirts on this issue.

I do not know who makes me more sick, the PTP or the red shirts? But combined they make me throw up.

As someone said, ms. Supa is Thailand's Snowden, hopefully someone with some power will stand up for her. If not, who else will choose to come forward the next time corruption is found? The fight against corruption starts right here, wake up Thailand!

Let's just hope that her driver doesn't throttle her with a shoestring.
