Bangkok Bank account - they want me to have a TIN
You're never going to have another bank account again - there's special rules in place for Americans.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
No, you miss the point entirely. If you're not tax resident and have no Thai income then that's it - there is no tax to pay - doesn't matter if you paid any tax elsewhere, many countries don't tax you at all under the right circumstances and this is all above board. and legal. You need to be prepared to put in some legwork every few years and move around a bit to take thi to the extreme - which could be worth it but it would depend on the amount.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
The discrepancy is in the definition of the word 'remitted' - he says it's not remitted - I think it is. Don't get me wrong, I'd love them to issue a clarification giving us the green light to spend as much as we want on credit cards and have unlimited tax free ATM withdrawals - it would be an easy way out - but I have a feeling that's never going to happen.

Agreed, a definite grey area.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
That's not quite what he said, I watched the interview yesterday just after it was uploaded. He said ATM withdrawals and credit card spending are 'not remittance' and then something about it needing to be paid into a bank account if I recall - is he correct? I have no idea, but I wouldn't rely on that.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
Never! I've done my own research on this and acted accordingly to protect myself, hence this year I shall spend less than 180 days in Thailand, perhaps next year too and who knows, maybe I'll just keep on doing that for many years as I quite like it in Phnom Penh.

I believe no anonymous anything, I will only act on absolute facts. Nonsense can come from anywhere, even lawyers!

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
Yeah, I'm not so sure he's correct on that - I certainly wouldn't use that method and rely on it to not come back and bite me a few years down the road.

Cambodia is fine for storing some cash, I'm back in Thailand for a few weeks right now but when I return to Phnom Penh I'm going to open a new ABA account now I have my 1 year visa.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
I'm hoping to see a real world example of the 'laffer curve' play out here - that would make them a global laughing stock and also pay for their foolishness.

Thai Tourist Numbers Fall over South Korea Entry Rejections
They've likely been rejecting Koreans just like the rest of us for many years now, I guess they decided it's time for a little well deserved reciprocity.

Always tired and weak.
Ask your Doctor if Lisinopril would be suitable for you (I hear good things) - also maybe consult with a different Doctor as potential side effects should not be ignored, even if they may eventually 'go away' as you become accustomed to taking the drug.

PM includes 'pocket change' in declared assets totaling 1.02 billion Baht
There's no way he should ever have so little when he made so much over the years with the huge conglomerate he surely owns a massive chunk of - or whatever he sold it for if he's no longer a shareholder.

Campbell's Tomato Soup
I prefer Heinz or Baxters Cream of Tomato soup but lately I've mostly moved onto the Baxters Minestrone, they changed the recipe a year or two back and it's real tasty for a quick meal - much better than the old recipe - I noticed the difference the second I tasted it when they changed the recipe. Campbells is like watered down ketchup 😂

Make take on the new tax laws and panic
Would you send several million dollars worth of previously untaxed currency into Thailand on the off chance nothing changes and it might not affect you at any point in the next 10 years when they get around to doing an audit on every financial transaction you've ever done since arriving? You don't worry about a problem like the above - you take action and eliminate the possibility of it ever happening.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
I'm typing this from my apartment in Phnom Penh, Cambodia right now. At the moment I live in both Thailand and Cambodia and I must say, I'm quite liking it down here but the law in Cambodia says they will also tax worldwide income for residents, the key is to keep the days below the threshold for the years in which you make the big bucks.

New Tax Rules for Expats in Thailand Spark Concern
This global taxation would make them one of only a small handful of countries which do the same. I can't see the government voting for it, this is a massive deal and makes the 'previous years income' thing look like a rounding error.
