They have covid in China, we have it here, it's in Europe and you can't stop it from spreading so they don't technically need to do anything. Someone demanded this. I wonder why they changed anything at all, after some period of time it will all return to normal like nothing happened - only in this case they've 'annoyed' every single country in the world except china.

Lol, that didn't take long, I guess at some point earlier today they realised that most of the passengers would not be able to board - this took a lot less time to happen than I thought it would.

I believe this is referring to the shelf life of the vaccine while it's in stock in the hospital and before it's used on patients so it's nothing to do with regulations or how long they protect you for. Based on what I've read elsewhere, if you were vaccinated at least twice then you should be good, even if your last shot was back in 2021 - but you need to prove it with some kind of documentation that apparently you will have access to in your home country.

I'm sure that will work out just fine for everyone ???? I'll reserve judgment on this until early next week. Topic unfollowed.

There were no restrictions until like today or tomorrow, people who booked flights in December would have been told there are no restrictions at all - because there weren't any at the time. By Monday new restrictions will be in force and almost nobody will know about them. Just watch what happens - it's only a few days away.

You're missing the point - people aren't going to know about this requirement until they are turned away from the check in desk - just watch what happens on Monday. Maybe I'm wrong but I expect chaos.

Tell me how you can get it at the check in desk in all the different countries around the world where the flights originate from. I know my parents don't have a login for the NHS, what they have is a little piece of cardboard which has a stamp on it from their first two vaccine shots - nothing more than that. Not even anything extra for the boosters.

There's also going to be people who don't have any documentation whatsoever yet are 'fully vaccinated' and boosted multiple times like my parents. They have no special document to prove this vaccination and if they were flying to Bangkok next week they still wouldn't have any special document to prove it because until a few hours ago it wasn't needed - what exactly do the airline want to see? Will the airlines be spending the weekend phoning everyone booked on each flight and telling them to get some kind of certificate from the NHS?

Some people are incapable of seeing the bigger picture, they look at that bottle of ketchup and think, sod that - I'm off back to the US / Europe where it's slightly cheaper ????

You can't prevent a 'wave of outbreak' - not a chance. You might be able to slow it down for a few weeks at best but once it's in an establishes itself then it will spread like wildfire - that's what happened in China. The Chinese military response to covid was humbled by the current variant - they were helpless to do anything about it despite going to extreme measures. There's a lesson in there for other countries - the virus wins, every single time - it is pointless fighting it because it is inevitable.

That right there is the problem and I suspect it will affect a lot of people Because this is something the traveller faces due to no action on their part I wonder if they can demand refunds or make insurance claims. I'm beginning to understand why British Airways made their decision to change Bangkok to Singapore on their schedules.

I've recently started occasionally drinking a cognac in the evening, I used to buy a bottle every now and again when passing through airports some 20 years ago as it was 'cheap' and I remember liking the taste, but as a sipping drink it's not really something for drinking 'down the pub' so much. I like it cold - straight out of the fridge, I don't care what the so called experts say - I don't want it tepid. There's nothing wrong with drinking some 50 to 70ml of something like this and I don't care what they say. If on the other hand if I was a raging alcoholic who drank the whole bottle then they might have a point. I'm beginning to have less and less faith in what these experts warn about over the years.

I've seen a few posts on this topic and I'm curious as to what exactly is going on. I've been using the Thailand Elite visa for some time now and I've never heard of such nonsense from them before although I'm not surprised, they (Thailand Elite) are only a conduit to immigration who seem to make up the rules as they go - so they are just a middle man to process the applications, accept payment and liase with immigration. So what is the issue here? Why are they singling out Volunteer and Education visas here and what's so toxic about these two types of visa that they're refusing people? How about someone had an Education visa 10 years ago, can they not get a TE visa?

Yes, they are nuts. Things will deteriorate very quickly from this point forward. Everyone will be treated equally, especially the Chinese, which in this case has changed the current regulations for everyone to match the so called 'risk profile' of the Chinese. It's complete nonsense, they should just let everyone in and given enough time (in weeks) I believe they will.

It won't last a month

I know of a case personally where a friend of mine was ill, his wife and adopted kid were on holiday in Brazil, he lives in Europe. He was ill and they were returning 2 days later, he did multiple test both the home ones and the proper PCR tests and all came back negative so they told him it was just a normal cold or flu type disease. When the wife and kid arrived back they both developed covid and tested positive, he was definitely still ill for over a week but never did test positive - they probably caught it from him but who knows?

There will be a lot of people in your situation sitting in their offices across Europe who are going to be blissfully unaware of this, people who decided not to take a vaccine and then looked down a list of countries where it's not required before booking their flights and Thailand was on the list. If it's introduced as a regulation which is highly debatable then they have a very good chance of ruining their high season.

The opposite happened, there was some kind of statute of limitations which was recently removed - and that's how and why they can sue at this time. Considering they were actually wearing clothes at the time I doubt this has much if any chance of success - they're likely working with some kind of litigation financer for a cut of any potential settlement.
