Convert carport into storage area...advise please?
sometimewoodworker replied to bamboozled's topic in DIY Forum
I have found that a reasonably competent welder will construct shelves for a much lower cost than you are suggesting. The shelves in my picture above are half of a pair that cost $80 for labour the materials were extra but I doubt they were as much as $80 . You can easily add adjustable shelves by using the shelf brackets and rails that are available from the big stores, an example are these two sets here. they are specifically designed as shallow units, you can easily have bigger ones. No, l leave that to the locals as they have experience and are more skilled than I and the cost is minimal. I do things that I can do competently, which for me is woodworking with things like this. -

You wouldn’t have any significantly larger amount of humidity hanging around as the racks will not accumulate water and your walls are not going to prevent airflow depending on the construction. Also assuming you are going to want to access the items you are storing you will need walkways between shelving so allowing for airflow. The kind of shelving I am talking about is like this. FWIW sandbags, unless you are going to be moving them out as soon as any floods subside, are going to retain large amounts of water so making the area even more humid. Sandbags are a very temporary flood control method so you will need an area to store them -
256 gb Lazada SD card, is it legit?
sometimewoodworker replied to Don Chance's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
It is 100% fake or just possibly a factory reject, there are numerous ways to fake the actual memory, along with chips that do not perform as they are supposed to. Even the claimed full price is fraudulent. Here is a genuine card certainly you may find these genuinely discounted 10% or even 20% However the statement “if it looks to good to be true it probably is” is one to live by. The sources quoted, I won’t name it due to Thai libel laws has so many fakes that I would never buy these products from most sellers there. There are genuine sellers, this is one of the few I would trust. -

As far as waterproofing there are really 2 options. 1) actually waterproof it. This will be expensive and permanent so probably not what you want. 2) accept that you will get up to 300mm of water (double your estimate for the metrical challenged) so use steel racks that start storage at 300mm and keep anything that is sensitive at least that far off the floor. For the actual construction of your walls chicken wire and plastic tarps will probably only last a year or two possibly even less. I would create a steel framework and use something like fibre/concrete board sheets to clad it. the plastic sheeting can work but from experience you need something heavy duty so a steel frame with cement boards is probably a cheaper option. You can easily make the frame modular so it can be disassembled. As an alternative you can use the light-ish weight silver tarpaulins you are already using and hang them off the roof beams as you already are doing, though you will need a significant overlap to stop rain, you would them use a long piece of timber as a weight on the bottom to prevent them blowing in the wind and rain. I also would not bother doing anything with the floor, just keep anything that will not be effected by water on the floor -
Where in BKK can i sell my iPhone 13 Pro max

Your claim that “Nothing I said was incorrect” and your information is clearly wrong then, isn’t it? 1) As there is the A2784 that is not listed, claim (There are exactly 4 variants of the SE) 2) You are attributing words and claims I did not say, I said that “GSM/EDGE (support varies by country)” I did not say that the “Thai variant includes different GSM/EDGE bands” 3b) You bought a phone from AIS it was locked so claimed “If you buy a new iPhone from AIS or True and you don’t pay full price, it will be locked to that carrier” 3b) we bought a phone from AIS it was discounted, it is not locked. Therefore AIS sells both locked and unlocked phones so contradicting your claim above. Likely that the supply of a locked and unlocked version is dependent on the discount offered and along with the contract. So your information is not as absolute as you like to think and you jump to unsubstantiated conclusions. -

SWMBO bought her last iPhone from AIS, she didn’t pay full price, it wasn’t locked. So it seems that your information is not correct there, is it? -

Really 1) A2595 (United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Mexico, Saudi Arabia), 2) A2782 (Japan), 3) A2784 (Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan), 4) A2785 (China), 5) A2783 (other countries and regions) That really looks like 5 variants to me!!! -

Sorry your information is incorrect the model numbers are the It is also very likely, as I said, that the Apple warranty is restricted to the North American + Mexico or A2595 area as that is region where you bought the phone. That the phone is unlocked may be a selling point there, it would not be one here where unlocked phone are the standard. So your best market will be North America, plus areas where the A2595 model is sold. The support for GSM/EDGE would restrict my personal interest in the model you have as the USA region requires different bands -

You have an iPhone that while it is the latest SE is like all iPhones a model that has been specifically designed for a market/area, so if bought in Thailand and sold to the USA it is likely that the 1 year guarantee will be void unless it is shipped back to Thailand. in short there are several different models of SE 256GB not just 1 -
Blender Repair Referral Request
sometimewoodworker replied to Terry B's topic in The Electrical Forum
The problem that people are finding is that they rely on the parts supplied by the maker. However if you actually go to a bearing supplier you will almost always find that the bearings are actually standard parts and are very cheap compared to the OEM parts. -
You are making a difference that no Thai would. Buying gold always means gold jewellery, it makes little difference what it is made into and yes you can make money by buying it. The difference between buying and selling is about 8%, so once the price goes up by that much you are in profit. Generally you get a better price if you sell back to the shop you bought it from. You make more by buying gold bars as the price difference is much smaller. FWIW I have sold a 4 Baht bracelet and made a 104,000 Baht profit on it. However gold is not a good investment, it is only good as a money deposit.

Your memory is correct, however the majority of indicator lights in the AC units are the worst possible colour, green. -
Mini Split Aircon for darkroom
sometimewoodworker replied to Ade1969's topic in The Electrical Forum
Having got close to a degree in photography (l spent about 6 years in the darkroom) I would not bother much with that, our dark room that was purpose built, was intensively used for about 8 hours a day, the majority of the work was done in open trays there was probably a bathroom style extractor fan but it certainly didn’t run much of the time -

sometimewoodworker replied to Ade1969's topic in The Electrical Forum
The option to turn the indicator lights off is not a button on the remote. There are menus available that are explained in the manual so you need the remote and the manual to follow the process. It is quite possible that your unit does in fact have that option, I don’t pretend to know anything but the functions of our unit. This is the section of the instruction booklet that shows how to turn them off SWMBO has decreed that the low setting is good enough note I can’t read Thai but monkey see, monkey do ( ???? ) works for much of the manual -
All security camera systems can support multiple cameras, if you like the Eufy system just buy more cameras. Virtually all manufacturers suggest bundles that lower the cost of individual cameras. personally I would not install Wi-Fi cameras as Wi-Fi jammers are easy to get and will completely disable you security system. So a Wi-Fi system has the only benefit of showing you the opportunist thief while hiding any thief that is slightly competent. It can make you think you are protected while only giving you a fig leaf.

In Thailand 3 units would have cost between $1,600 (for inexpensive ones) to $4,000 for high end units, those are prices for all 3 units -
Mini Split Aircon for darkroom
sometimewoodworker replied to Ade1969's topic in The Electrical Forum
“Ductless” because each unit provides cooling whereas in the USA the overwhelming kind of AC has 1 large cooling unit per house and blows cooled or heated air through ducts. “Mini” because each individual AC here is designed to cool 1 room so they are smaller than needed to cool 1 house. ”split” as the outdoor unit is separate from the indoor cooling unit. The USA has individual small combined AC units known as window ACs The benefits of these are they are reasonable simple to install and need no ducking or pipes. The disadvantages are numerous, they include blocking a window and being noisy. The standard AC unit here and in many other parts of the world is just called an AC because there are few giant whole house units or small window units sold as there is no market for them..
