US hits debt ceiling, prompting Treasury to take extraordinary measures
JonnyF replied to Scott's topic in World News
They're doing so well that they need extraordinary measures to service their debt. -
What has him being right wing got to do with anything? Dershowitz appears to be oblivious to the difference between manslaughter and homicide. If someone gave me a machete and told me it was blunt and incapable of cutting human skin, I still wouldn't swing it at someone's neck, then blame them when it cut their jugular. He didn't check, he pointed it and he pulled the trigger. That's pretty much the definition of manslaughter. His only hope was not being charged. Now it's going to trial, I don't see how he cannot be found guilty.

Nothing is ever the Democrats fault, is it? ???? -
I would agree that Obama was Pro EU and Trump was more Eurosceptic. As a Eurosceptic myself, I would have to say Trump has his finger on the pulse regarding the corrupt federalist organization, the EU. Why shouldn't he impose tariffs on the EU, if I were to say that the EU themselves are no stranger to protectionism it would be a massive understatement. It's ironic that while trying to convince the British to stay in the EU, Obama actually helped the Leave cause. He should really have minded his own business and shut up, but Democrat Presidents have a habit of getting things badly wrong re. the UK.

Dogs attack yet again: Neighbor's four Pit Bulls savage gran, 76
JonnyF replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't believe the stats. As in this story, many attacks are ascribed to "PitBulls" (which isn't even a breed) when the dog isn't actually proven to be a "PitBull" at all. The dog in this story looks like a soi dog. A mutt. A mongrel. Yet look at all the vitriol the story has induced against "PitBulls". Lies, damn lies, and statistics. I'm guessing all these dogs below would be called "PitBulls". At least they resemble one, unlike the cur in the OP. -
He should have checked the gun. To point a gun at someone and pull the trigger without checking if it is loaded, is an incredibly stupid thing to do. Reckless in the extreme. His behaviour/explanations after the incident did nothing to convince me off his innocence. Claiming the gun went off on it's own!! I believe he will be found guilty.

Hamline University professor who lost job over Muhammad art sues
JonnyF replied to Scott's topic in World News
A strange post. I'm not aware of any rightwing rants against education. In the UK it is the left wing Labour party that traditionally had their voting base in the working class, less well educated demographic. The wealthier, educated groups tended to vote Conservative. My point (that you are unsuccessfully trying to twist) is that Universities should be politically neutral. They should teach critical thinking, free speech, not Woke ideology. Campus censorship in the UK is at an all time high, with many speakers being banned from speaking due to their ideas not aligning with the views of the University's administration. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11015789/Students-warned-record-toll-cancelled-speakers-watchdog-threatens-intervene.html -
Obama has a history of using threats over trade deals to try and get his own way. I still remember the "back of the queue for a trade deal" comments he made that helped push Brexit over the line ????. Thanks Barack.

The economy certainly doesn't seem to be doing too well under the Democrats. Let's hope they don't default or it will get a whole lot worse. Wake up Joe. -
And he was absolutely correct. Obama on the other hand, was clearly using energy to coerce the EU into a trade deal.

Indeed. They've always been dominated by left wing ideology but it is getting worse. Thomas Sowell (the absolute legend) described the phenomenon very well. -
I don't like or dislike Trump. I'm English so I don't really get the unhinged obsession that American "liberals" have with him. But he was absolutely correct and the Germans were sniggering. They didn't look too smart 2 years later. As for Obama, he was simply using energy as a weapon to hustle for a trade deal with the EU. Classy...

It's a bad idea to put such young children near ANY dog. Toddlers will poke the dog's eyes, pull the dog's ears or balls, scream, shriek, cry etc. all of which are extremely irritating for ANY dog. Here's a labrador doing the same thing. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/jealous-labrador-mauls-newborn-twin-22286373 -

Both narcissists. But only Harry's wife exhibits clear signs of sociopathy ????. -
Good to see they followed Trump's advice finally. Seems he was 4 years ahead of them. It's funny to watch their reaction to his speech in hindsight. Disclaimer ; I am not a Trump or MAGA fan so save your Strawman arguments for someone else. However, on this occasion he was spot on.

Possibly due to my background in clinical Psychology, I've always had a morbid fascination with sociopathic narcissists. -
Jacinda Ardern says she will resign as New Zealand prime minister
JonnyF replied to Scott's topic in World News
Ardern was the classic authoritarian tyrant, masquerading as a "kind, progressive liberal". Who remembers "We will continue to be your only source of truth. Unless you hear it from us, it is not the truth" and "Don't talk to your neighbours". Chilling. Straight out of 1984. Not to mention locking New Zealanders out of their own country for almost 2 years. Hopefully NZ will learn lessons from this and vote more carefully in future. I hope she can get help for her reported issues and one day admit to her huge mistakes during Covid where the power clearly went to her head. Her regime certainly seems to have taken quite a toll on her and her recent behaviour and appearance suggests she has made the correct decision. It's certainly the best thing for NZ. -

That ship sailed long ago. Universities now are places where you can get yourself 50,000 USD in debt in order to be indoctrinated into Woke ideology. I got my degree in the 90's. If I was 18 now, there's no way I'd go to Uni. -
It's hard not to laugh at most eco warriors. Talking, but not doing. Harry and his wife are the best example.

It's the forum equivalent of putting your hands over your ears and repeating loudly "I can't hear you". ????
