  1. But that would involve actually providing something. As opposed to just talking about providing something that doesn't really exist. Thais are much better at the latter than the former.
  2. No lockdown? Just like there would be no coup? Whenever these guys assure us something won't happen I always start to worry that it's just around the corner. Let's hope not.
  3. Yeah I used to go there a lot for weekend trips from BKK. Now you've got the oil slicks, trash filled beaches and possibly mandatory Covid tests (not sure if that's a thing this week but why take the chance?). Slurping down oily fish (crude oil not cooking oil!!) as syringes blow past me is not my idea of a pleasant weekend. It's a shame. A beautiful area ruined by stupidity.
  4. Seeing as they can't even make a 90 day reporting app work, I'd say that was inevitable. Plus with a project that size with the CCP as the supplier, the possibility for kickbacks would be huge.
  5. By "extremely literal", I assume you mean honest and truthful?
  6. This week's column is about how much he hasn't drunk lately ????. Hopefully the content picks up sooner rather than later, I'm not really interested in reading about what some guy in New Zealand has in his wine cabinet. The bars are opening back up, it would be good to hear some real news...
  7. On the bright side, my journey to work is a joy compared to when the schools were open. Seriously though, it's basically 2 years wasted for a lot of these kids. It boggles my mind that I can go to a crowded pub with friends or to a 'bar' in Soi 4, but kids can't go to school. Still, apart from the private schools they are only really being 'educated' to conform anyway.
  8. Growth from last year when tourism was pretty much wiped out? Still massively down on 2019, and will be for the foreseeable future.
  9. Most are suicides sadly. I suspect there will be quite a few more this year as the economic destruction caused by Covid restrictions continues to devastate businesses and livelihoods.
  10. Ridiculous. I thought Thailand was number 1 in the world in dealing with Covid? So why the increase? Even long termers here are dropping like flies now. I know 3 people who have left in the last month. Tourism is in the toilet, and they INCREASE the level? Wow. The administration just goes from bad to worse.
  11. Well Thailand knows all about inequality, and it wasn't caused by Democracy. https://www.aseantoday.com/2019/01/thailands-wealth-inequality-is-the-highest-in-the-world-what-does-this-mean-for-upcoming-elections/
  12. Silly prices to watch a couple of reserve teams play an irrelevant game. I'll pass.
  13. Even if they scrap the restrictions they can forget it. The Chinese won't be coming and Thailand is somewhat of a busted flush with the Junta sucking the fun out of the place.
  14. It was clear from the start that she was only after yet another pay day. But then what do you expect from a former sex worker that openly admitted to recruiting other young girls for sexual services? By her own admission she should be on trial herself for procuring children for sex. As for Andrew, absolutely idiotic but not actually illegal since she was clearly over the age of consent in the UK (16) at the time and she was being paid handsomely for the work. You can see by the glee on her face in the photo that she wasn't being forced into anything. No different to the girls working on Soi Cowboy, except she was flying on private jets earning thousands of dollars for sex with a Prince instead taking a TukTuk and earning thousands of Baht for sex with a tourist.
