  1. Yes, as mentioned, hence it's already an informal favourite of nomads. Of course the 'digital nomad' is a broad spectrum in itself from white hats to the less savoury.
  2. Already is for plenty of folks. All that is needed is half decent net access and legal foreign condo ownership.
  3. Every old hand here knows that in that case it's not so much the 'wizards at SCB' that is a plus for crypto in Thailand, but the particular stakeholders of SCB. Not that it really matters for holders of crypto (since crypto is everywhere and nowhere), but it's certainly a plus for the future of crypto IN Thailand that that particular bank is involved.
  4. And then they woke up when they realised they can't enforce it.
  5. I just walked into each branch of DBS, OCBC, and UOB until I had one of each. They were fine with Thai BBL Bank statement as proof of address + Thai passport. Some branches did say 'sorry, we won't be able to open an account for you.'
  6. That still looks less convenient at 5, 10, 20 day 'caps' per transfer but good to know anyway.
  7. The monthly AIS top up thing works, but the reason why folks recommend DTAC over AIS for keeping a number 'alive' is that DTAC allows you to purchase validity time. 15 Baht buys you 6 months of validity (with no top up required, it's just deducted from your balance). It's only a 240 Bath vs. 30 Baht a year difference, but it's two 'reminders' per year vs. 12.
  8. A truly lovely place to be 'hiding out' though, this time of year.
  9. Not so sure about '6 months' or so. Kids have been back in school for about 10 days to 2 weeks now depending on the school, so the new 'waves' could be this week. It's just going to be a question of whether they'll be 'okay' with it or not. Apparently society seems to have normalised with having X000 new cases and 40-80 dead everyday.
  10. Make it available on a cash and carry basis. Plenty of Thais aren't in a position or still prefer not to go the mass vaccination site route.
  11. The dips are definitely smaller than before. I've cashed out a bit here and there the whole way (the thinking was... well, at least I get another shophouse out of all this... I could use another condo for my kids' college years, etc.) and in the end just holding the entire time would have been better. Of course hindsight is 20/20 and like all things that fly, there is always the possibility of it pancaking.
  12. Yeah, I'm well into 'greed/academic curiosity' territory and just wondering where all this will go. No plans to sell at any particular point, red or green.
  13. Yes I know. And been in for well before 60k. Even when it's on paper though, IMO even veterans feel something heavy down low. (like if this kind of loss was in my younger days, I'd probably be vomiting)
  14. So many red candles. Losin' some money... losin' lotsa money...????
  15. Thanks brother Prayuth. And thank you for the conservative path you've plotted for us. If I had your power, this place would look like the Grand Lisboa from Mae Sot to Trat by now.
  16. At the very least it wasn't a race based shooting, so hopefully no riots and looting from the outcome of the trial.
  17. Would be great to be able to ski and shred in Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai.
  18. Yeah, I just installed Bolt to try it out. For some reason though there is only a cash payment option? I use a self limited debit card for Grab, removes the need for small bills and personal contact. I do see it has a vehicle choice like Uber in other places and like how Grab USED to be here (not sure why the option thing has since disappeared).
  19. Is there a setting in Grab to allow JustGrab or is it automatic? I've been using it for awhile and in the beginning, it seems regular private car owners would show up as well as taxis.... but lately (as in... 20+ rides over the last 6-7 months), it seems to be all taxis.
  20. Thanks. Didn't actually read through the article the first time. Was curious as I haven't seen a specific notice from them coming through other than the periodic 'we're updating our TOS... feel free to read it at this link, which we know you likely won't' type emails that seem to come out a few times a year.
  21. Will still use them to get to hard to explain places with minimal parking. All of the best um... coffee shops still in operation during the pandemic are in discrete locations ????
  22. What are they requiring for business accounts? I have one that I rarely use but haven't received any notices. Do they actually want a copy of your Thai company registration docs?
  23. $200k = eventually. Lambo = I'm not one for showy stuff. ???????? for sure though.
