  1. Update on this.

The new RASOI place is now possibly open. (same side of street as Indian Touch 1 a bit more in the Jomtien direction).

However, it seems a little odd so maybe it really isn't open yet. (But the tables are set, what are people supposed to think?)

I perused the menu from the outside stand for ten minutes (looked good and decent prices) but was saw no Indian people there at all to greet me, nobody eating, and some Thai people hanging around gossiping (not clear whether they really were part of the restaurant).

Maybe things will get gelled later, but I won't go into a place that doesn't seem to be happening yet.

Update on Indian Touch 1. Stopped by for a non-veg thali for 160 baht. Bloody delicious. A chicken curry in a thick yellow sauce, some of the best dal makhani I've ever had, an interesting raiti with crunchy rice type things in it, excellent fresh cooked rotis, and some fresh veg to munch. This place is a gem and a bargain. I suggest people support them! Given their south Indian focus, south Indian type starches like dosas, idlis, rotis, and uttapams are the features . I don't recall that they have Vada though.

one restaurant door closes, another opens............

  2. Where are the good shops?

Whats the best price for 3 cotton made-to-measure shirts?

I'm reluctant to indulge on of the pests on beach road...

thanks to anyone who knows and regards to all on here

    LL

i have all my shirts made at NEXT in the arcade next to KISS on second road opposite the backside of Mikes Shopping Mall

have done for nearly 10 years

  3. Jeez...even with a nice topic like this we get a trashy post. Unreal.

Please keep posts above the board or face repercussions. annoyed.gif

One inappropriate post has been removed from view.

merry christmas Craig, thanks for policing the board with a sense of the occasion

i hope you and all the local mods, rimmer, phil, raro and everyone else has a wonderful day

  4. Merry Christmas to you too sunshine girl

on this special day lets remember a few things:

Remember; to spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person will soon grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the one treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a penny

Remember, to say, ' I love you ' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment, for someday that person will not be there again.

Remember to give time to love and give time to speak! and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

Remember life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

i hope everyone has a wonderful day...........

  5. I just went by Jolly Friars in Jomtien and there is a very large sign out front that says: Fish and Chips 100 baht! Maybe it is a special to get people to try the new location.

The Soi Lengkee branch has this permanently, but I didnt notice it at Jomtien the day I walked past.

I think you may have not seen the sign because during the sunny part of the day the shade-screen they use is blocking it.......later you can see it. I am eating there tomorrow because a friend of mine just did and was raving about the 100 baht cod and chips!

i have just eaten at jolly friar two

it won't be an extensive report as i am stuffed

its a more extensive menu than lengkee branch and has pictures for multi lingual understanding

its a double unit that's more airy and comfortable than lengkee

the staff were attentive albeit a little bit nervous

the food was pretty much the same as JF one

i always order the same thing so i can comment if there's any difference quality wise between the two branches and there wasn't

however i would give JF one the edge over JF two taste wise at this time but its a marginal call

the restaurant has apparently been open 12 days now, but you would never know it

no excuses were needed for any lack of anything on the menu or poor service or breakdowns and its already running at full steam

    not like some other places

i give it and the management a solid thumbs up!

  6. theres a good quality bicycle shop on Pattaya Thai on the left side going up to third road, about 200 metres from the junction

also there one in Naklua, on the corner near the pizza company on the post office road

  7. i assume you mean buy a great Dane?

unless an individual is selling one then you can't as far as i know

i got my dogs from a kennel club registered breeder in An Thong

one of only two such breeders in Thailand

you will need to pay 30,000 upwards for a good dog

50,000 for a show quality dog and you better have deep pockets too for the vets bills

everything about this breed is big ............

Thank you for he reply. At 85 sometimes overlook spelling. Buy not but.:ermm:

Putting aside my previous comment (#3) I would seriously question why an 85 year old person would want to take on the care of a dog such as a Great Dane. I am a serious dog lover and keep 5 dogs all of which are cross poodles. Taking care of these 5 small animals is an armfull and I dread to think of the difficulties in taking care of a fully grown Great Dane. Having said that if this is your desire then good luck to you.

Thank you. I appreciate the helpful advice. Yes, a Great Dane does have a short life span. My previous Great Dane only lived 7 years. I have a large family in the village and they will help raise the great Dane and a vet in Prasat is not to far away. With proper car a dog should have a happy and long life. Years ago I had a Collie that lived 14 years. Of course, the climate in thailand acould be a factor for some dogs. :D

i am sorry for the loss of your Dane.

one of mine passed over 5 years ago and not a day goes past that i don't think of him

aside from the food costs and vets fees to nuture these gentle giants,

it is a huge emotional strain knowing that a beloved member of your family is going to leave you early

having said all that, owning a Great Dane is a very rewarding experience

one i would not wanted to have missed..........

  8. I like the F&C at Jolly Friar, Soi Lengkee.

The chips are home cut chunks of potato not those weedy things that come frozen, so they taste like fried potato and not fried crisp.

they cannot be called chips, more like hunks, perhaps too lazy to cut the potato into more than 4 peices Pig & Whistle better by far

its a matter of personal taste

i like the big chips at Jolly Friar

manufacturers of frozen chips like McCain offer many sizes and styles of chips and regardless of size they are still called chips even if you don't like them............

  9. as its vaguely mexican resto related, the owner should register as a forum sponsor on TV

he might get 20 pages out of it then, especially if he can get jingthing involved

shouldn't be difficult, he was asking about it even before it opened...........

  10. cant beleive people who live here, pay people to tax and insure a car, why not simply go and learn how to do it, its not rocket science. is there no feel to learn and understand how to do the basic things in life here with out handing over addtianl cash to do some thing a 12 year old could do.

Transport Office near Regents School on the 36/7 near Marbrachan

dont see where the OP asked about vehicle inspections so its just a trip to the land transport office

i have done it myself before, i learned from that experience, by doing so i found i had much better things to do with my time and now i pay someone else to go.......

  11. i had a half rack of ribs, baked potato and fixings in a restaurant in Robinsons Siracha it was 109 baht no ++

There are ribs and there are ribs. If the 'half rack' from Sri Racha was as much as a quarter of the rack I had from Lone Star, I would be shocked. In addition, the method of cooking is key for ribs. Again I would be shocked if the ribs you had were dry rubbed beforehand and then smoked for many hours--the proper method for 'bbq' ribs. Most places parboil the ribs and then finish them on a grill--it's just not the same.

no need to be shocked, i am sure you are correct and its highly likely these would be better in size in quality but i was actually commenting on the post that said ribs are fairly expensive at most places

this was a generalization i wanted to comment on and in fact we were both off topic for Lonestar

the ones i had were ok, they were sizzler style at half the price of sizzler

i have found Siracha to be cheaper in many respects than Pattaya......

  12. "460B.

    NO ++ PRICING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

So I should think. 460B (nearly GBP10) is already a very high price indeed.

You can do the seafood lunch buffet at the Hilton for less.

Ribs are fairly expensive at most places. The ribs were very high quality, very meaty with little fat.

  14. it was a great show

we enjoyed it very much from our perch above the bay

the traffic wasn't so bad either

the worst jam for us was on Siam Country Club Road, waiting to cross the railtracks

after that it was plain sailing in to Central area via a few lesser known routes

the exit was the best ever by far

4 ONE WAY lanes up Pattaya Klang to Sukhumvit

then home to Mabrachan in record time

the police did a great job organizing the traffic in my opinion

  15. seen lots of people buy flood damaged cars in australia .

    four simple words .

    <snip>

modern cars are so electronic based that no matter how much money you spend , it will never be the same !

    moose

A fool and money ... No, surely that one does not apply in Thailand, does it?

clearly as you have nothing to contribute , i suggest you move to less mentally taxing threads like
