I wouldn't want anyone to think I am a shill for Sunrise Tacos! So, folks, check Sunrise Tacos out for yourself. Don't listen to me. Don't forget to look at the vast salsa bar, something no other Mexican place in town offers.JT, I gave you the perfect setup on the salsa bar... Did you miss my post? I was hoping you'd jump in and comment on the variety of salsa's. I started with my preference for the 2 green ones (can't remember either name)
BTW, now Mike's is beating Sunrise by a 2 to 1 ratio.
So what's good for y'all there?
you're not going to be there.........

strikes me that if petercool is so incensed at being called a wanke_r by some anonymous driver, that he feels that he the need to explore his anguish in an open forum, then he is clearly not suited for the job as a police assistant

Whether or not you want to believe that all Thai police are corrupt is entirely your choice.
Whatever your views are on foreign volunteers who work with Thai police is also entirely your choice.
Whether or not you want to hear what libel and other laws are in Thailand, they do exist.
Whether you read it as such, no threats were intended at all.
And when working with and under Thai officers, I am considered a "real" policeman by them.
That all of us are perfect in doing this job has never been implied.
But many are ex-police and many bring real benefits to the community.
I will now resist replying any more.
thank you.........

What a waste of money ,and there have been accidents already ,where people have clipped the wavey bits that stick out ,level with the road.,why cant the powers to be do more about the pavements along beach road ,not poncing about with dumb lights.
I drive this road almost every day and I can assure you that the decorative wavy curve elements of the poles do not enter the plane of on-coming traffic. The ends of them are parallel to the curb so unless the driver is driving up on the medium or is an extremely wide load (in which case they should be in the left lane) they will have no problem.
It still does not change the fact that they have already been the cause of accidents .
Installation damage.
of course!
thats that mystery resolved then....

I know many women expats in town like the Este beauty salon on Second Road, which is opposite the Royal Garden Mall (basically in front of Casa Pascal restaurant.
my mother uses that salon and she would highly recommend it
the lead stylist is from the Philippines and is very good
however for a mans haircut, after many disasters over the years, in my opinion, the best in town is Boy
he is a stylist at the salon upstairs in the old Carrefour and now big c extra
a wash and cut is 300 baht but worth every penny
you will usually need to make an appointment
Boy speaks pretty good English, as do many of the other rather attractive female stylists..........

i too drive this road almost every day and if you care to look at the wavy bits on the side of Pattaya Nua approaching the Dusit roundabout, most are all ready paint scarred & damaged
presumably as is the car, truck, bus, saleng or motorbike that did the scarring
some have slight rounding of the leading edge corners too, indicating a bigger impact has occurred already
so despite farangbuddha's assessment of the location, someone has hit them within days of installation and will continue to do so.
it will only be a matter of time before a motorcyclist is unseated by a car from behind and thrown into one of these cheese slicers and cut in half
i have no doubt they have lined the pockets of some highly placed local politician with associations to a construction company
anyone been here long enough to remember the installation, lack of use of and subsequent removal of the green 'T' shaped stands on the pavement that were intended to have a canopy of flowers growing down from them ?
same same, just a nice little earner for the powers that be.........

as you have found, they are very hard to find in Pattaya
this is because the incidents of wheels being stolen are few in Thailand compared to somewhere like the UK
they can be bought in HiSo wheel shopS in Bangkok but you would be better doing what i did and buying them on Ebay
select a set by a seller from Hong Kong who ships worldwide
pay the extra fee for EMS shipping and they will be at your door within 7 days
you may have to pay a postal tax like i did
it was a staggering 10 baht...........

Care to describe where is this place near ? In case finding a "demolished" Excite disco is difficult.cake and bake
a black and white painted cafe on the soi that used to face the now demolished Excite disco
great cakes, good grub, good service, free wi fi, aircon, nice crowd..............
the soi is known as soi excite
its off the right side of third road travelling south between its junction with pattaya klang and pattaya thai
you won't miss the large cleared area on the right where excite stood
its a big empty area for this neck of the woods..........

Pattaya Books, 1st floor above Tops at Second road/Pattaya Klang junction branch
it offers easy parking, great selection, he will buy new books from you or give credit on take outs and returns
the English owner is well read and gives good advise/recommendations.
i have tried all the others over 10 years, (not star-books yet)
we visited yesterday, as we do every fortnight or so
we come out with a shopping bag full and spend between 500-1000 baht each time after cashing in the returns from the last visit
in my not so humble opinion this bookshop is the best in town..........

I'm impressed you know about Yu Rak in Map Tha Phu.If it's the same owners as the Yu Rak in Map Tha Phut it should be good, I love their dubboo kimchi.
But then again it could just be a generic Korean restaurant name?
How many can say that?
its almost as difficult as peter piper picked a pickled pepper.......

Hi Jayman, What you describe is essentially what you need to do. However because it is still early days for both FreePlayo and our sponsors it is best, before you visit, to ensure that you contact the sponsor business and communicate with someone who knows about the sponsorship -- we provide an email and/or a contact number in the Player Reward Ticket email -- just in case the information hasn't been filtered down to front office staff. Also please do read the Terms & Conditions on each Reward before claiming it.How does the claiming of cash work? Pick the reward and then go down to that establishment with the email to pick up the cash?I'm glad you brought up the terms and conditions. I started to read them and I noticed that for the food reward I have chosen I need to bring in a friend with me in order to use the reward. Doesn't really mention how much we both must eat just that I have to bring a friend. For the 500thb reward I have to bring 2 friends.
that'll be no good for me then
i don't have any friends, only the dog...........

Agreed that you cannot foresee sudden illnesses like heart attacks.
But with an address in Belgium, my Belgian sick insurance covers me during my "holiday" in Thailand.
When it is something you see coming, like diabetes or cancer, I would stay in Belgium for treatment.
''unless you require limb amputation, in which case you'd probably be better off doing it at home''.
i think thats a bit extreme, no insurance?
Diabetes is one the leading causes of amputation of the lower limbs throughout the world. It is also a leading cause of blindness. The sad part is that these "symptoms" are usually avoidable if diabetes is detected early through a cheap and simple blood test.
The problem with your "happy to die when I reach xx age" mentality is that often the dying process can be gradual and painful. It's not like you're going to wake up one day and decide - "this is the day I die".
i think there are many balcony vaulters in Pattaya who would disagree with you.
if they could........
