  1. Was it ever in question that a 3rd party couldnt act on the applicants behalf ?

Yes because it clearly states on the GOV UK website ' you must collect it in person'. It does not say we would like you if at all possible to collect it in person it says you 'must.' From CG's reply on the other thread it is clear you can nominate a third person to apply and collect. You should not have to be a member of an expat forum to know the rules. They should publish what the rules are.

  2. You do not have to attend yourself. Someone else can take your applications in for you. Someone else can pick it up to. I agree by post would be a lot better. I have just renewed a passport and waiting for email to say its back. A the moment they estimate a 4 week turn around.

So why does it not say that on the (updated 24 Sep 2015) gov uk 'Thailand Passport ' information.

It says a third party can hand in your application. But it then states you have to pick it up 'in person'. No mention of a third party.

  3. I have a war pension paid into Bangkok Bank as well as my state pension, both via Citibank, today my war pension arrived on the due date so no delay, I will be interested to see if my state pension arrives on Friday when due!

Amazing in 2015 they change something in July that delays payments in September.bah.gif

  4. Just to update the charge for this service went from 300 to 500 Baht. At present the charge is a blanket Baht 3500. The Embassy charge is Baht 2475. The cost therefore is now Baht 1025. Not a complaint just saying what it is. I did mine by EMS -B2575

  5. OK JT. For the first one - from Jomtien Beach go up Chaiyapruek 1 to Suk. ( I dont think Song Tows use that route but you will know better than anyone about that.) Cross over to Chaiyapruek 2 walk 300 metres up there and on the right you will see the restaurant that is in the picture. For the other one go up Chaiyapruek I and turn left on Suk. Go down there until you see the Avis rent a car sign. This is about 500-600 metres from Tesco south turn in ) .

  6. I agree - a great restaurant that we use a lot. Do not be late it has all gone by 3 ish. A simple place but nice food. I think it will be shut 14 - 18 Oct because the owner is having a baby. Normally shut 15-16 each month. There is another one on Suk (going west ) before you get to Tesco South - it is near a car hire sign. About 200-300 metres before you get to the Tesco turn in.

  7. I just going 2 go with the travel insurance again seems the simplest option and by far the cheapest

Out of interest what are you covered for (and limit) on your travel insurance. I am surprised you can get a 'second year' on it - normally it is only valid for X days per annum.
