  1. they had a choice of a lot more that they passed through to get to Calais. but to answer your question.... would be more controversial than this topic already is.
  2. they do this indeed. i hitched a lift with a truck driver doing his return trip back to chantaburi. approaching every crossroads, to indicate his intention to carry straight on, on come the hazard lights. while we were having lunch, i explained what these were for, and what he was doing was dangerous... people on the left think you're turning left, as they can only see the left indicator. people on the right think you're turning right, as they can only see the right indicator. people in front and behind think you've either parked awkwardly or broken down. he didn't do it they rest of the trip, but others on the road were doing the same. my experience of watching thai's taking their driving test at the district test centres worried me that actually this is the least of our problems...
  3. maybe a bit of muck/ debris under the keys (do these keys have a slightly different feel when pressed). a hardware fault would more likely take out a row or column. could be the contacts on both keys are oxidised. do they work when pressed down hard(ish) and wriggled? try.... 1. keyboard upside down, give it a mild shake. 2. vacuum, blow, compressed air canister around these two keys in particular. 3. gently prise up these 2 keys to see if anything is underneath them. after that then a shop visit, can not really recommend any in particular, loads around though, eg tuk com pattaya. use a computer shop rather than a phone repair shop. doubt any of this will help, but always worth a try...
  4. i have read the fine print yes. i have watched your link as well. have you read any print let alone the 'fine' print or is youtube all and everything to you?
  5. yes. even when especially when crossing a one way street. don't forget to check behind and in front as well. considering the state of sidewalks and roads, looking down would be handy also. don't forget to check above if walking near those condos with low balconies...
  6. yeah, without going into details.... 1. they couldn't help 2. they didn't want to help 3. it wasn't a run of the mill 'copy and paste' exercise. tick one or more of the above choices to win a prize... YAY!!!! you're all winners....
  7. to anyone who is interested, the I-Rovers live cams are back on, covering Soi LK Metro. personally, i used to like having a sneeky peek to see how this soi is doing, but they were turned off for a while (months/ years). Thanks to the owner/manager for bringing them back on!
  8. unlike other countries... or a certain autocratic state highlighted in the media at the moment, uk citizens have a democratic 'right' to vote him out in the next election, without fear of retaliation by poisoning, or assassination, however, at the moment, the choices for replacement are.... nothing... don't get me wrong, but the uk opposition are giving us the choice of who we do not want, rather than who we do. similar to the past few US elections... just my 2 cents worth btw...
  9. <deleted>, i wasted tooooo much time in boyzzzzztown, Hawaiiii here i come...come and come..... wait for me guys !!!!
  10. i looked at siam legal because they have a bricks and mortar office, they seem to be well established so not likely to close shop tomorrow, they offer 30 minutes consultation for free. any future problems with the same issue in say a year or two, they can address. i am not after the cheapest, but do not want to be ripped off for what is about an hours or so documentation work (4 pages including signature page), translation, signing and notarized, and handling a relatively small amount of money. i could not find a webpage for siam eastern laws, without that, it's a no no for me. if @ezzra could provide a link, i would be happy to have a looksy. my 'friend' hopefully will pop along to SL in jomtien on monday morning to see if they can do the work for a reasonable price. just hoping they are actually there!
  11. Thanks for that.???? They haven't updated their webpage, hope that's not an indication of their reliability...
  12. does anyone local to Pattaya know if the Siam Legal offices are still just off 3rd road near the Pattaya South junction where the LK apartments are, or have they moved? a 'friend' claims to not be able to find their office there....????
  13. reading through the comments, I'm sort of happy that it is not just me that finds Thai beers somewhat less than palatable. believe me, they were ok 20 years ago, not great, but ok. now i just go for which ever is the best regarding availability, price and alcohol content. hopefully they will never get so bad taste wise, that lao kao becomes tempting...
  14. when Chang was closer to 7% ABV, that was forgivable... just... but now, no way.
  15. something either happened in 2008 or my taste changed. pre 2008ish all the beers had their own distinctive flavor, and were stronger too (%ABV). they were all very 'drinkable'. Ice cold Chang and Leo were both great. They even had medals printed on the boxes claiming awards were given by some beer competition in Australia. after 2008ish the recipe must have changed, the alcohol content went down, and none of them were any better than a supermarket own brand bevvy. Maybe time there was a 7/11 own brand brew made by the CP corporation...
  16. yes, prices are ridiculous at the moment. many reasons being given, but the most popular is that most of their fleet was sold off during the lockdown rather than mothballing for an unknown period of time during which the rental companies would still have to pay leasing. there is not much available, so you are taking a chance looking for a rental upon arrival. a friend bought an e-bay car with long MoT for his trip, and gave it away when he left, but if you're an expat, you may suffer on the cost of insurance.
  17. so the lesson is, get top class insurance and go to soi 9 at 4.00 a.m. to make a report. quids in ! and i havn't had usoft technical support call me for a few weeks telling me my computer has been hacked, obviously usoft support are all on holiday in pattaya...
  18. rice, grain and cooking oil price rise globally tempts growers and suppliers to export for better prices, home grown products are not exempt from global shortages and pricing factors. one country's demand is another country's supply. Thailand is not immune from global prices for food. expect prices to go up or down accordingly.
  19. yeah. weird one this. flashing into 2nd half of screen. how much is your time worth? sell to tv shop for parts and replace with new...... cheap tv for rental units, never know when accidental damage gonna happen... like this may have been....
  20. just to add a couple of pointers, seek some legal advice in your home country. it'll probably be the best £150 you'll ever spend. another idea, assuming you have no children...... PM me...
  21. have you any plans to go to Thailand in the near future? i don't know how well off she is, but if you were in Thailand, divorce is easier than the marriage. i'm also in the same boat, and plan to wave the price of a brand new honda PCX in 1000 baht bills in her face to sign the paper. (her old bike is knackered), otherwise, unless she goes to scotland, there doesn't seem to be much she can do. just hope that she doesn't get involved with another brit, and go on holiday with him to the british isles.
  22. most lawyers want to start at 30,000 baht. you will have, no doubt, other expenses on top. if you are lucky enough to be in Thailand to sort this out, then i would tell her that you would give her 30,000 to sign the papers at the local district office of mutual convenience. if your iD on the marriage certificate does not match your current ID, then you would have to go to the same district office where you were married. Just ignoring the matter may work, but could come back to haunt you in 10-20-30 years... hope she's hungry for money now...
  23. your problem is i gather she isn't missing as such, just refuses to cooperate? where are you at the moment? where is she? was the marriage registered at either the british embassy or in scotland?
