Dear residents of Krabi,
after reading your submissions against a coal fired power station, I have decided to kill two birds with one stone. My plan is to buy an about to be de-commissioned Russian nuclear sub, refurbish it with a coat of paint and moor it at Krabi pier. Its reactor will be used to power a steam turbine generator set mounted on the pier and connected to the grid. Not only will it supply ample energy, we will promote it as a tourist attraction, and if conflict should arise, it can be uncoupled and used to defend the nation.
Yours, P
What a top idea, the other two subs could be moored in the Chao Prayor to provide Bangkok with power and at low peak times they could go out and patrol the Gulf of Siam! And all for the all up price of 35 billion, what deal!!

Bah! Humbug! And what changes??

It looks as if it's politics as usual in the land of the Buhmi putas....the rich get rich and the poor get children!

I currently have three on the go. One has a masters, two have BA's, from decent international programs. To be honest, it's strange to see Western men shack up with partners educated to the level of a Western 10 yr old and communicate using toddler-talk.
But then, the World is strange.
Mr Dlang.....you need to be in the far queue!

What a great idea! It's wonderful to see a Thai government with "the peoples" interest at heart!

Are they showing it on prime time tv?
What do you think.......! Of course not!

Typical singapore.....the nanny state to end all nanny states. After living there for a couple of years I realised that posession of the "5C's" was manditory to be accepted by any group above street cleaners! The local girls keep a low profile and the government loves to sprout the nonsense that the "lion" city is "sin" free! It's very similar to the LOS in that they believe that the facade of purity will fool the world!

"Don't you know who I am?"

Well a thai paper did a survey a few years back, they asked 8 to 10 years old Isaan school girls what they wanted to do after they finished school
99% said that they wanted to marry a "farang",as farangs would take better care of them that a thai husband would
When you ask young women leaving vocational school what are their future plans most say they want to save enough money to buy/build a house! Marriage to a farang isn't even on their radar!
Talk to a 30-35 year old woman and you you get a totally different answer..."find me a farang" is the cry!
Foreign men are kinder, give them more freedom, don't steal from them, don't have mia noi's and basically have more money! Isn't that the main thing, even in the West women are looking for the best provider!

I personally, am deeply offended by suggestions that Thai nurses are not sexy. I have known people to pretend to be sick just to get close to nurses. My best experience was to be allocated a bed in ICU in Chiang Mai and to recieve a bed bath by every incoming shift of nurses....lying there naked amid the suds and soap was something to be remembered!!

An interesting read about Trump's campaign , that you're not going to get from the MSM:
Donald Trump: A False Flag Candidate? To help the Clinton campaign....
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-07-13/donald-trump-false-flag-candidate
I think that DL and Bernie are bringing a puff of fresh air to the debates. Neither the Repubs or Demo's have a viable candidate. On one side you have a rabble led by W's brother.....what!
On the other you have a very tired old woman who has been shown to be no better than the people she claims already run Congress! Either Bernie or Donald should win, at least they're honest enough to admit their real beliefs!

Everybody just has to learn to swim!

Well, it looks like the general will get off the plane laughing and probably waving his .22 magnum in everybody's faces! Very poor show Japan, you would have got the train contract anyway, now all you look is WEAK!

Mr Nakhon if you expect justice to be done i would expect all parties to be able to scrutinise evidence and ask serious questions of the investigative process.
I feel dreadfully sorry for the boys on trial. I just can't see how they did it when all viable evidence points elsewhere. They've suffered enough so hope they are acquitted sooner rather than later
Explain how all viable evidence points elsewhere?
We have suspects and we will be presented with evidence in court. If they are not good enough the "boys" will be set free,
The police contaminated the crime scene, they all handled the assumed murder weapon and they chased who they reasonably believed were the perp's! That is until they realised what family they belonged to! Then .....ooops! It's not any of the suspects we reasonably thouight had done it so we guess someone else will have to do?
This is typical "Thai justice" is it not?

This might help.
E10 not as cheap as it looks and not suitable for all cars
RACQ is warning motorists that running a car on ethanol-blended petrol to save money at the bowser is likely to be false economy.
E10’s maximum three cents a litre price advantage over regular unleaded petrol (ULP) is not enough to compensate for higher fuel consumption from the ethanol blend.
E10 is increasingly ‘headlined’ on service station price boards because of its slightly lower pump price. However, with RACQ’s own field testing confirming other independent research that indicates around three percent higher fuel consumption when using E10, a minimum discount of four cents a litre would be needed at current price levels to make use of the ethanol blend more economical than regular ULP.
RACQ advises motorists who want to get the best value from the fuel they buy to check closely the relative pricing of regular ULP and E10.
They should also ensure their motor vehicle is compatible with 10 percent ethanol blend petrol. While E10 is safe to use in most recent-model cars, the most reliable independent research indicates it should not be used in some 30 percent of the current
petrol-engine fleet.
To check if your vehicle is E10 compatible, contact your car’s manufacturer or importer or go to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries website..

Capability of vehicles to satisfactorily operate on Ethanol Blend petrol
Submission - 1st June, 2006
The Australian Government has limited the level of ethanol in petrol in Australia to a maximum of 10%, or E10. Most new and many older vehicle models can run on ethanol blended petrol. Vehicle manufacturers and importers have provided the following information on the capability of their vehicles to operate on ethanol fuel blends up to a maximum of 10% ethanol, subject to the fuel meeting the octane requirements for the vehicle and complying with relevant mandatory Australian fuel quality standards and particularly proper blending of the ethanol into the petrol. To avoid operational issues, vehicles should be maintained in accordance with manufacturer’s servicing procedures using genuine replacement parts. This will ensure that the fuel systems of vehicles listed as suitable to use either E5 or E10 blended petrol continue to be ethanol tolerant. The information below provides technical reasons why some models cannot use ethanol blended petrol.
For more information about national fuel quality standards or about national labelling requirements for ethanol blends, please visit Department of the Environment and Heritage or Department of Industry, Tourism & Resources.
REASONS WHY E10 IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR SOME CURRENT MODELS
The Australian Design Rules (ADRs) are harmonised with international standards as specified in the UN ECE Regulations. The same requirements apply throughout the European Union. New vehicles certified to these standards will increasingly use advanced emission control technologies that strictly control the engine’s operating parameters and have therefore more stringent fuel quality requirements.
The maximum level of ethanol blended petrol in Europe is E5.
Depending on what markets certain models are sold in, Australian vehicles may be built to either a European specification (E5 compatible) or some other specification that is E10 compatible. This is the reason recommendations regarding E10 suitability will differ from one manufacturer to another.
The use of E10 petrol in vehicles that are E5 compatible may also result in material compatibility problems in the fuel system.
VEHICLE MODEL SUITABILITY FOR E5 OR E10 USE
The following table lists vehicle models suitability to run on E5 or E10 ethanol blended petrol. Before use of E5 or E10 in motor vehicles not listed below or if you are unsure, you should consult your handbook or manufacturer to check if the fuel is suitable.

REASONS WHY ETHANOL BLENDED PETROL IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR USE IN SOME OLDER VEHICLES
Introduction
The following information outlines the key reasons why vehicle manufacturers do not recommend the use of any ethanol/petrol blended fuels in vehicles made before 1986. This information is also applicable to post-1986 vehicles listed as unsuitable to use ethanol blended petrol.
Ethanol has a number of important chemical and physical properties that need to be considered in a vehicle's design.
Carburettor Equipped Engines
Vehicles made before 1986 vehicles were predominantly equipped with carburettors and steel fuel tanks.
The use of ethanol blended petrol in engines impacts the air/fuel ratio because of the additional oxygen molecules within the ethanol's chemical structure.
Vehicles with carburettor fuel systems may experience hot fuel handling concerns. This is because the vapour pressure of fuel with ethanol will be greater (if the base fuel is not chemically adjusted) and probability of vapour lock or hot restartability problems will be increased.
As a solvent, ethanol attacks both the metallic and rubber based fuels lines, and other fuel system components.
Ethanol also has an affinity to water that can result in corrosion of fuel tanks and fuel lines. Rust resulting from this corrosion can ultimately block the fuel supply rendering the engine inoperable. Water in the fuel system can also result in the engine hesitating and running roughly.
Fuel Injected Engines
In addition to the issues mentioned above for carburettor equipped engines, the use of ethanol blended petrol in fuel injection systems will result in early deterioration of components such as injector seals, delivery pipes, and fuel pump and regulator.
Mechanical fuel injection systems and earlier electronic systems may not be able to fully compensate for the lean-out effect of ethanol blended petrol, resulting in hesitation or flat-spots during acceleration.
Difficulty in starting and engine hesitation after cold start can also result.
Exhaust And Evaporative Emission Levels
Lean-out resulting from the oxygenating effect of ethanol in the fuel may affect exhaust emissions.
Of more concern is that fuel containing ethanol can increase permeation emissions from fuel system components, particularly those that have aged for nearly 20 years. Therefore the increased vapour pressure of fuel with ethanol (if the base fuel is not chemically adjusted at the refining stage) will lead to increased evaporative emissions.

...and how many billion cubic meters were lost during Songkran?...
A better question might be......How many 12mm hoses does it take to empty a megalitre dam?? One province's rice farms use much much more than Soncran! Go back to bed!

Funny how as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton's personal email account is scandal ridden and full of "failure to disclose', "lies and obfuscation of the Obama administration", etc., etc. Blah, blah, blah.
Hmmm. So what does Colin Powell have to say about his personal email account which he also used during his tenure as Secretary of State under President George Bush before and during the Iraq war?
Powell has confirmed he had used private email while secretary but that he didn't hand over any emails to the State Department because ALL his private emails were all gone.
"I don't have any to turn over," he explained. "I did not keep a cache of them. I did not print them off. I do not have thousands of pages somewhere in my personal files." How convenient General..
By his own account, Powell's emails, unlike Clinton's, include his regular communications with foreign dignitaries. Gosh, I wonder what was he emailing them in the lead-up to the war in Iraq? We'll never know. Maybe something to do with those silly drawings for the UN of centrifuge tubes and mobile bio warfare trucks that didn't exist.
Enough already.
Could you begin to imagine what the cafufle would be if Colin Powell had kept his emails.....both Bush, cheny, rumsfeld and Bremmer would be in the War Crimes court in a minute!!

The lies and obfuscation of the Obama administration puts the PTP to shame.
No matter who you vote for the government always gets in!!

"Lomborg and other economists have argued for a more systematic approach in spending future global development funds, by analyzing project costs and potential benefits in monetary terms to determine which would deliver the most "bang for the buck.""
Yes, one of my personal concerns these days as well.
Yes, more profit, that's what really important, to hell with these nonsense education and health goals. Training workers for the sweat shops is a much better way to go!

According to Wikipedia, "The age of consent in Cambodia is 15.[7] However, the law against human trafficking makes purchasing sex from a minor under the age of 18 illegal and punishable by imprisonment. Foreigners have been prosecuted under this article for sexual relations with 16-17 year olds."
In other words, these children could have been 17 years old.
Just to put it in context, the age of consent in some European countries in 14 or less, depending on circumstances.
"the age of consent in some European countries in 14 or less"
Nope it is not.
The age of 14 is meant for other reasons, to define the legality. ( under 14 years old is always rape ) above 14 to 16 can't be an adult involved or max 5 years or so older
16 to 18 grey zone about the other participants age, 18 up, free to go
Prostitution is 18 and up, even some country's 21 and up
Age of consents means that the girl can give consent to have sex, it is not related with prostitution.
Most Karaokes have 15 yr old , playing and drinking with older men, nothing wrong, the sex is separated and takes places in "resorts" where the girl and the man are in "private"
Its a very thin line to walk on...
Often in Vietnamese countryside!

Why are the water reservoirs in Thailand so shallow?
Why build another 50,000 ponds?
It is any wonder that Thailand has a mixture of floods and then droughts with the storage systems being so shallow.
Amazing Thailand!
Why wouldn't the army, with the manpower and the machines, do a little "exercise" and go out and deepen these existing reservoirs?
The evaporation rate would not change but the time to dry up would certainly take longer and may just save many a farmer and or village from drought.
On the other hand it would again save farmers and villages during high rainfall and runoff as the deeper storage facility would take longer to fill and slow the downstream flooding as the water could be both held back fore longer and released over a longer period.
Sounds simple enough to me.
How does it sound to you?
If the statement, "The evaporation rate would not change" is true, I am at a loss to understand "but the time to dry up would certainly take longer"
One might argue that the water of the soaked earth (mud) cast aside, would result in the pond actual dry faster.
one might also woder if muddy water, from mucking about in it, and stirring up sediment, absorbs the sun's energy faster, and therefore dries out an area more quickly.
One of the ways to get someting to evapoarte more quickly is to stir it. Try this experiment on your own. Put two identical bowls out in the sun, leave on alone, stir the other...which do you think will empty first?
Lastly, if manpower and money is available to be used for digging, new methods to cathe the rainfall and transport it are needed .. not a deeper (empty) hole.
Dear BE, Water evaporation usually measures approx 12.5mm per day, if the water is shallower it can rise to over 25mm! The deeper the water the cooler it is, the cooler it is the slower the evaporation. Digging out the existing dams makes a lot of sense, it's cheaper than building a new one, the results are immeadiate and the expected flow and enviornmental effects are well known!
There is nothing that can be done for this year, the drought is on us and all we can do is live with it! Next year is a differenrt story, with the accumulated silt out of the dams the total storage could be up to 50% at minimum cost to the nation as the Army is already paid for!!
Public acceptance in nuclear power is key to building such plants in Thailand
