For every farang who lives here on a permanent basis, with all of its lumps, this place is as good as it gets! Just don't think of the Phoo Yai's, the potiticians, the noise or lack of "real" love of country with the locals! It makes me angry, sometimes, to see the way local people just throw or leave litter and rubbish everywhere...I just keep my patch clean and move on!

I've never had the question asked...to tell the truth, I've never thought of it!!

Well done those people!
Now all you have to do is to make one of Phrae provence??

It's times like this I wish my chosen vocation was as a hitman. This would be one of my freebies.
Bravo! Hear him!

Just think what might have happened if it had been one of the BIB...a shot rings out and silence reigns!

I, for one, can't see what the problem is? It's only money and the government has lots of it! If they need more they just print it, right?? It's obvious that the 800 million Baht was merely a down payment of the "graft" with the other 20% to come later...I suppose the principles of PCC were so busy ripping off other contracts that they let the time run away on them, I see it as poor time management! I'd like to thank you all for the civilized way in which this subject was discussed...cordial with perfect patience! Very informative and to the point.

Since independance in Malaya the "Bumie Putras" (sons of the soil) (Muslim Malay's) have dictated the roles and rules of their country, they have precedence in every sphere of life...a very subtle apartheid winked at by countries in the West!

Time wounds all heals...now there is the man whose initial is "C", wouldn't it be great if he and his sons joined the kamnan?

What's all this over the top conservative language about. Your city has thousands of prostitutes running around and mass corruption. Your country obviously doesn't mind these activities so just tell it how it is.
As far as the guy is concerned. Lock him up, he is sick !!
I think you're being a bit hard on the guy! We don't know what the girl was wearing or how old she looked, If she agreed then obviously she isn't new at/on the game? If the police were serious then they should have spoken to the guy on the spot instead of "stitching him up" in the room! Let's try and be adult about this! IMMHO

I've used super phosphate with some success! Sprinkle a goodly quantity around the drip line of the tree or closer in if the tree is small. You can buy the super for about B1000 a bag (50kg)...chokdee!!

Just trying to save you some hassle - check Mario's wise post above.
I assume you are going to apply for non-immigrant O visa. Although I was living in Coffs (2011),
I went through the Brisbane consulate (they had good reputation).
Cost ~ $200, had to provide evidence of money in Austr (sent in photocopy of a term deposit),
a couple of visa-style photos + passport registered mail, returned at my expense ord. post.
DIDN'T have to get police or medical checks. [Police checks can take > 2 weeks, at your expense].
Assuming you get it, non-imm O for over 50s with intention of retiring in Thailand:
You get one year to make your first entry into LOS.
You can use this visa to open a bank acct here in LOS.
You have to cross a border ( ie. visa-stamp-run ) every 90 days.
Then you can decide how you want to get the 'retirement extension':
on the basis of bank balance > 800,000 baht (deposited minimum 60 days); OR
stat dec from Austr embassy declaring you have monthly income > 65,000 baht; OR
combination of the above.
If you don't want to do visa runs, you can go to your local Immi office
after your money has been in bank 60 days, and/or visit to embassy,
and apply for the one-year extension on the basis of retirement,
essentially converting your multi-entry non-imm O to an annual extension of stay
(= "retirement visa")
Sorry if this has made things clear as mud,
but there are more ways of killing the cat than running it down.
(I know, I used to be an aussie vet). Cheers, AA
I'm sorry! How come you used to be an Ozy Vet, Oh I get it, an animal vet...silly me!

Do they come from Doveton or Frankston or maybe even Broadmedows in Australia, Just asking! Total F@#$kwits put them in jail and throw away the key!

As a teacher I tried many times to get the Director of the school to install condom machines in the girls toilet...shock horror! "It would just encourage them" quoth he and the teachers both male and female agreed, "high school students are not allowed to have boy/girl friends and if they did good Thai children would not consider sex before marriage!" Idiots!
-
1)I don't think it's about "hair" particulaly, with the teachers it's more about control! By taking up the clippers and removing some hair always seems to bring out the beast in the hair cutting teachers! Most of the time they are really cruel to the kids.
2)While we all agree that teaching, or trying to teach M2 and M3 students is a bit like taming wild animals you can see where allowing these students to wear whatever hairstyles they like is akin to just passing them, even if they fail, in exams! My point is...the vanity of Thai teenagers is beyond belief, it they can spend 30 minutes looking for zits in their rear vision mirror (boys) and girls constantly primping what is it going to be like when they all have long flowing locks??? Most of the little swine can't concentrate now! What hope for the teacher!
My rant and I'm sticking to it!

Headline
"Hairdressers and Hair Clipper Manufacturers demand re-instatement of regulation"
In response to the change in regulation covering the length of hair in school, the Thai Hairdressers Association and Thai Clippers Manufacturers Association demanded re-instatement of the rule covering the length of hair, since it will cause an outbreak of greasy hair, nits and unnecessary pollution caused by an increased use of shampoo, according to spokesman Somchai Klipalot...

What is unreasonable is that they do not allow the individual schools to determine what they consider as acceptable. Perhaps the next action will be to tell the military that they can not dictate the hair lenght either. Troopers with ponytails !!
It "sort of" works in Holland, along with beards and moustaches!

The China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) was therefore worried about where the money would come from and whether the Thai firm would be the real buyer of the stake, the Post reported, citing sources close to the regulator.
Now let me think which other individual has plenty of money
I'll be a goose, who might it be?? Perhaps it could be someone with a false Japanese name, a Monte Negro passport and a Dubia address?? Naw! It couldn't be that person the deal isn't shifty enough!

Why not transfer it directly into his Thai bank and get the TT rate? It's easy through Netbank!

Don't be shy...what's it's common name, for us dumb bunnies!

You could visit the government grass growing farm/s in your area and they'll give the grass or the seeds to you! In every provence there is a farm whose sole duty is to grow various types of grasses as fodder. This fodder is given free to farmers who, because of drought or other natural or man made problems don't have enough feed for their animals. They also sell baled and loose grass and hay on request...grab your missus and go look!
I know because I buy over 900 bales of excellent feed a year from this type of establishment!

I'm sorry, what normal business man or family man is out at 2 a.m. ?

Cruel...very cruel, if you keep this up she'll tell her big brother! Tuk-tuk's are all gentle peace loving people, if they were to stop their activities then we would be inandated by fureners!
