  1. If it was me and I really wanted to know then I would 1 do an internet search 2 look back in the thread 3 perhaps look at the sidebar for bdenner's post 4 look at scorecards post on this thread posted 2 hours ago OTOH if I don't know something I would look it up, instead of being lazy and asking other people to do it for me.
  2. In the 30 years that I have been working, holidaying and living in Thailand, other than the Immigration police, no policemen has ever asked for, let alone demanded to see my passport
  3. Well from 1999 to 2009 when I worked as a contractor offshore I only paid UK tax on my UK earnings, withholding tax in some countries, no tax in some countries, and NZ tax in my last year working in NZ for a local NZ company.
  4. Every time I come back from Immigration I scan and save any changes, 90 reports etc to my pc, so that if I do lose my passport I have a record to give to the police/Immigration etc.
  5. In rural Kamphaeng Phet there are only sidewalks in the big villages and I haven't seen a rural policeman outside of the big villages and cities in years. I don't know when the last mugging was out here.
  6. But the UK HMRC only taxes UK based income. The US taxman taxes ALL income worldwide for US taxpayers.
  7. IIRC if you are paying UK tax on your pensions in the UK, then IF Thailand imposes a tax on ALL income from abroad. https://expatnetwork.com/tax-resident-uk-thailand/#:~:text=As the tax treaty gives,on your Thai tax return.” “You will need to submit UK tax returns for the previous years, showing you are non-UK tax resident, and a tax resident of Thailand. This will include the gross UK pension in the year and the tax paid, plus any other UK sources of income. As the tax treaty gives Thailand the taxing rights on the pension, the UK tax paid can be recovered. You will need to declare the private pension on your Thai tax return.” There is more information in the link. 8. BUT only if you live in the UK. NO free passport if you are an expat.
  9. Not if they want to claim and hold the moral high ground. If you are a christian, there is a saying in a book that runs along these lines " Let him (or her) who is without sin cast the first stone". Only those who are faultless have the right to pass judgment upon others (implying that no one is faultless and that, therefore, no one has such a right to pass judgment). Alternatively from the same book comes this, Matt. 7 Verses 3 to 5 [4] Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? [5] Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. Now, right or wrong, don't complain when the stones you throw came back on you. If you are buddhist it is called karma.
  10. Who BTW, was found guilty in a coup owned and run court.
  11. If you had bothered to check the header, you would see that it came under world news, which makes it an allowable topic. Faux outrage.
  12. I will certainly take a long hard think about changing my mind. Will you change your mind when/if Trump gets convicted? How about the state charges which do carry jail time and cannot be pardoned by the POTUS, whoever that may be. IF I had a vote and it came down to a choice between Trump and Biden, I would chose Biden. However IMO, both are too old to become POTUS for 4 years. IF however neither stands for any reason, it will be a whole new ballgame. My crystal ball can only see as far as this week and throws up too many errors to be reliable.
  13. Just seemed like a comment to me. Nobody else seemed to need to know.
  14. It came off in my hand chief. Old RAF joke.
  15. The top photo is James Beck. This is Arthur English below
  16. I am just an ordinary poster, the same as you. The difference between us is that I have no NEED to know. So why do YOU NEED to know.
  17. There is nothing stopping anybody from returning the money, nor is there anything stopping anybody from not taking the benefit of the debt moratoria.
  18. If you want a faster decision, lock all the committee in a room with only one toilet (no door). feed them on prison food every 12 hours and only water to drink, (no ice) and only release them when there is a 90% vote in favour of a referendum. Give them all a paper to sign with their photo to sign and add their fingerprints to it, but only after they are released.
  19. Only if you live in the area served by the BTS/MRT. If you don't live in that area, and most of Thailand does not, why should you have to subsidise those who do live there?
  20. And ALL the taxpayers, especially those living outside of the area of the BTS will have to pay for it, even if they can't/don't use it.
  21. Good old Basil Brush, From Mr Derek
  22. From Saturday 16 September 2023 BBC News website. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-66828011
  23. Not in the slightest. Trump has been charged and is awaiting trials which is a positive outcome. Your claims are merely unproven allegations and your opinion, with nothing to back it up.
