    Elder care at home

Like you, my wife and I have been married 23 years. Even before we were married I helped support my wife's family down in Bangkok and carried on after we were married. Her younger brother, his wife and son lived with us for a few months until they got back on their feet financially, and went back to Bangkok. Her Mum lived in a small house we built for her for a few years before she died. Skip forward a few years, and when I was in hospital with a blackout, her younger brother paid the hospital bill for me. Now as I am recovering from a second black out my wife is taking care of me. Not all Thai families are the same and it seems that you, I and a few other posters are the really lucky ones. Let us hope that it stays that way until death us do part, as the saying goes.
  2. I suppose that you could look at it in the same way as a visa application. You will need at least 6 months validity on your passport and empty pages as well. I would however like to get the word from Immigration if possible.
  3. That is what I thought was correct, but I want to get the word from the horse's mouth as it were. There is an agent in Bangkok/Samut Prakan that will do it, but at a cost of 11,000 thb. They emailed the forms yesterday. It is a form fillable PDF document. Having been in hospital a couple of times this year I would like to stretch the application out until he start of November to get some money back into my bank account. A line from his email to me. Uk passports are only taking 4 weeks to process now
  4. This is a problem that I have. When I did my 90 day report last Friday the IO at Kamphaeng Phet, told my wife that I needed a new passport. She didn't tell me until we were well past the halfway mark on the way home My extension expires on October 31st 2023 and my passport expires on 16 June 2024. I normally do my extension in the middle of October, and that would give me 8 months validity on my passport and plenty of blank pages. I had planned to go yesterday (Monday) but my wife (who is also my driver and translator) is sick and cannot drive the 70 km each way to KPP IO. Whilst I am sure that the IO is wrong in this case, I am not 100% certain, hence the trip to KPP IO.
  5. Oh dear Mr Putin. Those nasty lying Ukrainians are use their to attack Mother Russia's territory, Just like we have been doing for months. What should we do? Well I have a few suggestions, but I cannot post them here as I would be given a posting holiday.
  6. Perhaps that can be explained by higher fertiliser costs, higher electrical costs, higher water costs, higher costs from the millers. I suspect that the rice farmers, as usual will get the short and smelly end of the stick. I am more concerned about the next generation of rice farmers, if indeed, there IS a next generation.
  7. Just because it is the law in Thailand, it doesn't mean that it can't be ignored for political considerations or reasons. I suspect (but I don't know), that Thaksin has a lot of data on his political opponents, and perhaps has given them little snippets as a taster, just in case they attempt to double cross him. And that will go right up to the very top of the food chain.
  8. It is on Thai TV right now. Thaksin is back and at Don Muang airport.
  9. Of course there is. That is like saying that a military coup is legal. There is somebody much higher than Prayuth who decides what will happen.
  10. Try doing a search on the Kings Guard of Thailand, and see how many military and police units are under his control.

Who cares what you think really. We have never met, you have no idea of how my life has been, what medical problems I have. I am so glad that you can do 60 pushups every morning, run 30 stories up and down o an outside fire-espace in my building, and go to the gym almost every day. And I don't eat processed food or animal products. My body fat is 10%, my visceral fat is 6, my resting heart-rate is 45 bpm, and my blood pressure is 110/70. Now try doing any of that with arthritis, low blood pressure, iron deficiency and anemia, 2 stents and I have had 2 blackouts in the last 5 months, both resulting in time spent in hospital. It would be interesting to see if you change your attitude, but of course you seem to have a holier than thou attitude and show your ignorance by attacking me, whilst knowing nothing about me.
  12. More like good management skills, something that the current caretaker government has no conception of.
  13. The correct question is why not? When I was a line manager I used to take my workers out every 3 or 4 months for a meal and a few drinks. I used to ask my boss first and if he said not at this time, I would still take them out but at my expense. if you have happy workers the project goes better. I used to claim only 50% of the good work and share the rest with the guys who did it. If the project went bad I would take 100% of the blame and deal with it myself.
  14. I would certainly believe most things that most Thai political parties say. Having said that I would believe nothing that ANY party having anything to do with any military coup, especially BJT, PPRP and the UTN.
  15. But they probably will blame the Ukrainians for attack a civilian? space vehicle with a military drone. ????

Whoever you find needs to be strong as well. I went up to the kitchen a while ago, 25 metres away, turned around and walked straight back. I sat on a stool outside. I had a dizzy spell and fell off the stool. I weighed about 115 kg at the time. My wife could not get me back up and called our 18 year old son for help. They couldn't get me up either, my neighbours 17 year old daughter came to help and between the daughter and my son they got me sitting upright. I sort of shuffled on my ass to the doorway, they dragged me in and got me sitting on the sofa. They then got me standing and I was pretty much OK then. 1 Something I didn't think about before 2 The teenagers have gone off to uni in Chiang Rai 500 km away. Something that you may want to think about as you grow older. Your wife will be growing older as well and losing some of her strength. It won't happen again I hope, as experience has taught me to be careful and the 2 teenagers went to
  17. I suspect if he did that to Marie Antoinette's gold leafed wagon, he would be eating stale cake that day, and an appointment with Madame La Guillotine the following morning before breakfast.
  18. I know that frustrated feeling very well.
  19. Thank you for the update. I have about 13 blank pages left of my 31 pages.
  20. Thank you very much for that useful information.
