  1. Well, it will certainly cut down the exhaust emissions from the ICE scooters. but where does the power come from to power the more than 12,xxx charging stations. I presume that it comes from the same energy source as the main power supply so that may need to be beefed up as well. quote "1250 NTD = 1350 Baht "all you can eat" contract is nice, as I drive in my off work weekends up to 250 Kilometers so batteries are unlimited for me". But how long is the contract valid for? 1 week, 1 month, 1 year or the lifetime of the scooter? I have spent a few minutes trying to track down the cost of the plans and they are variable. For example in https://www.gogoro.com/gogoro-network/Taiwan I managed to track down the contracts, but not the prices. In their blurb I saw people simply going to the charging station and swapping the battery simply by pulling the battery from the charger. What I didn't see was how the company knows who has what battery and how the cost is put into the plan. This is only an advertising movie, and I suspect that you have to declare what type of contract that you want, and only then will you learn the cost.
  2. Strangely enough I was responding to this poster. So if my post had nothing to do with the topic, then neither did the post I replied to. 19 hours ago, bignok said: I give up
  3. Many of us came here to work. I did, in 1993, 1994 to 1997, 2001 to 2004. In the 1990s I was employed by Motorola UK, and tasked by Motorola USA, and in the 2000s I was a self employed contractor servicing and building mobile networks for AIS and DTAC using 1G and 2G technology and then the first CDMA network in Thailand. Like many of my colleagues I eventually met my Thai wife and married her in 2000. Of the 25 or so guys I worked with around 15 married Thais, and to my knowledge only 3 divorced them. Some live in their home country, some in Thailand, and some still work internationally. In my 50 year working life I lived, worked and visited some 38 countries and the only places I was happy enough to settle down in were Singapore in the late 1960s and early 70s, Portugal in the late 1990s, Germany in 1999 and 2000 and Thailand. NZ in 2008/2009 was OK too.
  4. And if he does not win the contract, you think he should should do the work for free?
  5. Please explain why many of us are here?
  6. Perhaps the projects were small, in Thai and needed no paperwork.
  7. Probably because they are using the same language and documents in the same language as well. Wrong post, Sorry
  8. Obviously Labour will blame the Conservatives.
  9. My parent rented a bungalow in Poole from the 1930s until my Mum died in 1973. There was no electricity until I paid for it to be put in during 1964. She never had or wanted a fridge or a TV set and when I was growing up the nearest phone was in the phone box about 500 metres away. I used to get free school meals but so did many other kids at school, so there was no shame in it. I suppose that we must have been poor and never realised it.
  10. You do realise that you are paying for his services which will include dealing with you and all the documentation in English, and dealing with the legal side and its documents in Thai. You seem to want the cheapest, and I have no doubt that if a problem comes along later, you will be the one shouting and complaining about the poor work.
  11. He sounds like a professional to me. Why would you expect somebody to travel to your place, in his work time, in his vehicle, to use his expertise for free, with a chance of not getting the job? The OP seems like a cheapskate wanting something for nothing and most likely wanting the lowest price he can find. quote "We exchanged texts and pictures about what I wanted done, I sent him my location and then I suggested he come look at the job." Text and pictures are not much use compared to the real thing. The 2,000 thb you pay for a survey may well save you far more after a proper survey.
  12. Very subtly (and correctly) put.

  14. How long do you think it takes to train an immigration officer from scratch? Have you thought through where will you base these new officers and what will be required? You will need offices, transport, salaries, even uniforms. If you believe it is so simple that even some school kids could do a better job for their class project, what sensible suggestions have you come up with. After all you are supposedly smarter than school children. IMHO, the best solution would be to stop the illegals from leaving their home countries. That is a simple solution but one that impossible to work as the illegals don't use normal crossings or apply legally through embassies. As I understand it the fit young men (and most of them are) borrow the money somewhere/somehow, and basically abandon their families and head for the streets paved with gold in the west. Theoretically it should be possible to track down the facilitators and jail them for life. In reality they will simply buy their freedom from the corrupt officials that they work with and through. To do that you may have to arrest and jail at least half the officials in the country up to and including all the leaders, most of the police and immigration officials in that country. Who will do that when there is so much money to be made? I honestly think that there is NOT any real solution, easy or hard to fix the problem.
  15. If they are not the responsibility of the French government, how to they get to the UK across the channel? quote "The solution is obvious. Stop the flow of illegal immigrants at source. Implementing measures to achieve the desired result is a lot less obvious". And which countries are going to stop the illegal immigrants at the source, and how do you suggest that they do it?
  16. Actually I am a dedicated leader of fashion Sadly no one follows me, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqXrAHuLksU&ab_channel=WhiteRose63
  17. It is getting harder now. I have gone back to cutting the grass for about an hour a day but only 5 minutes work and 5 minutes rest at a time. The hardest job is exercising regularly. Including grass cutting I am exercising for 1 1/2 to 2 hours a day . I do it in 3 sessions, morning, afternoon and evening. Something I have never done on a regular basis.
  18. Thank you. I still won't be holding my breath though.
  19. I might have believed that if it was his wife who said that. My wife has a different story as she is the one that does the shopping, and she needs more money to pay the weekly food bills.
  20. Not really. All you need to do is to follow up on your claims that the evidence will soon be produced.
  21. I am still waiting for the truth that you promised would be published days, weeks and months ago.
