When making an online purchase , are you happy to pay with your credit / debit card ?  Especially if buying from a seller that you have never used before . When doing online banking I always use my VPN , do you ? If making a purchase from a new seller I always use Paypal as it has decent security . What protection do you use when making purchases online ? ?

Personally I prefer to pay COD. That way it is safer as nobody can access my credit/debit card, i don't have to go through the return hassle of using a "wallet", and if it doesn't turn up. then I haven't paid for it anyway.

However that is just my opinion, others may differ. Also if I pay in cash I can look at the heap of money and ask myself, do I "REALLY" need this item, or do I simply like and want it?

And your country of origin Tony is?

    Perhaps you should be.

Why should he be worried? His country is Thailand.

BTW, he does have a proper name which is Thaksin.

Perhaps one of his screen names s Tony.

Is watchcat your real name or simply an alias?

And which is your country of origin, since you seem to be questioning Thaksin's?

"Freedom House" is just a CIA-talking-point outlet - no respect for anything they say, including about Thailand.

But, if life was so bad for "minorities" in the USA, they would not be flooding in by the millions, from nations where they were among the majority ethnic-group.

The USA is whining about 40 Uyghurs being deported from Thailand to China.

This is one way the USA deports illegal aliens.

Thailand had 12 Gripens since 2011, well, 11 now since one splashed a few years ago, based in Surat Thani.

Excellent choice for a country like Thailand.

It is also cheaper to buy, far cheaper to use per flying hour, needs far less maintenance and is not reliant on fixed airbases which are vulnerable in a war situation. Spares are cheaper and it cannot be "switched off" by the USA.

US-based Freedom House downgraded the level of freedom in #Thailand from partially free to "not free" in its latest report. The dissolution of Move Forward Party & the deportation of 40 #Uyghurs were among reasons cited. It now joins #China & North Korea.

It would be interesting if the US-based Freedom House did a survey and a poll on the USA now, especially if the pollsters  were non white and women or of Hispanic origin.

I suspect that the USA would get a lower rating than Thailand.

  6. I am 80 with osteo arthritis in both kneecaps.

I found exercises for the elderly on the UK NHS website.

I spend about an hour a day doing 5 exercises at home, and take an exercise day off. usually once every 7 to 10 days.

No gym fees, and I can stop at any time my body gives me a warning.

I have been doing it for 2 or 3 years, but I got lazy and took 6 months off last year. This year I started again back at the beginning and it is harder to do than before I stopped.

Some links if anybody is interested.

I have been receiving my UK Pension paid directly into my SCB account for many years. Regular deposits every 4 weeks no problem.

At first when my pension payments started I would regularly check the amount arriving in my Thai bank. I can't remember exactly but the difference between the exchange rate and what arrived in the account, allowing for some minor bank charges/transfer fees seemed quite small and reasonable.

Over the years there were of course some fluctuations of monies deposited depending on the fluctuations of the exchange rate, but overall it seemed OK.

With all this talk of tax, both here and the UK and general messing with the pension system of the UK Government, I thought I'd just have a check on the payments into my Thai Bank.

My (Frozen) Pension is £628.88 per 4 weeks.

These last couple of payments into the bank have been ฿17827.45 and just last week ฿18546.56.

Now according to the current exchange rate of ฿43.319, the amounts should have been nearer  ฿27242.52 or similar. If my calculations are correct I'm missing out on about ฿9000 every month. :w00t:

Surly the bank charges could not be so high on such a relatively small amount and any new tax or additional charges would show up on the bank statement.

    Any thoughts, anyone?

Anyone interested on checking their own historical Exchange Rate:-
    https://www.x-rates.com/historical/?from=THB&amount=1&date=2020-02-12

I do a daily forex rate check on KBank, Bangkok bank, Wise UK where my pensions are sent to and XE simply as another reference.

KBank is usually the worst followed by Bangkok bank. Both are lower than Wise, but when I transfer from Wise to BKK bank I get a better exchange rate, and XE is simply another reference.

    ON what grounds?

AFAIK Thaksin has not committed any crime, alleged or real, nor has he been charged or taken to court.

Would you feel the same, if someone protected by parliamentary privilege, alleged that YOU had committed a crime and should be sent to jail without being allowed a defence in court?

I would far rather send to jail ALL the generals still hanging around who committed illegal military coups over the years, who actually DID commit crimes of treason by overthrowing legally elected governments, and who have NEVER been punished.

    And neither have you sir.

And who are you to scold me?

    Most likely.

    Who am I?

I am a nobody, but a nobody that cares about other people.

The real question is who are you?

A nobody like me, but a nobody who doesn't seem to care about the realities of life or the feelings of other people.

You also seem to be a person who jumps to any conclusion instantly without waiting for any further information to be released.

You needed to be scolded, you made a rediculous comment.

At times young women in a relationship, having sex, all is going well, she and her partner make plans for the future......Sadly, only for the father to abandon her shortly after the birth of her baby.

In the west the government would provide social security and welfare payments (thousands of dollars after the birth), garnish the fathers wages, the woman may be on maternity leave, she has income but sadly in Thailand this poor young woman (girl) has no money to support herself and baby.

If the mother decides to keep her child without income she must leave her child with a guardian, go to work in the city but the minimum wage of around 12000 month is not enough to pay for accommodation, guardian, food, clothing, electricity, etc, now she finds herself working on Soi 6.

Shame on Thailand for not providing for these young mothers.

    Thank you.
