Are there any 'normal' farangs living in Thailand?
billd766 replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I am from the UK but I have lived and worked in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Gibraltar, not to mention around 30 od other countries across the world. Those 5 countries I have mentioned have different attitudes, food, culture and even languages from each other. Even in the UK there are many regional differences from north to south, and east to west. -
Why Pheu Thai handout pledge is election’s hottest topic
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Apart from 7/11s which are franchise from CP I think, plus the gas stations which are also owned by big business, most of rural Thailand depend on the mom and pop shops and the food cars. So the money will go to the smaller people, which is where it should go. -
Myanmar: How many more children have to die ?
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Why shame on the west? The shame is on ASEAN who sit and do nothing but talk whilst Myanmar indiscriminately kills its own men women and children. The Tatmadaw only understand violence whilst the rest of ASEAN abhor. it. IMHO the only way to fix the problem is for a combined ASEAN force to invade Myanmar, destroy the Tatmadaw and publicly execute ALL the Tatmadaw leadership down to major or captain level. This won't happen of course as there are too many ASEAN countries in a similar position. It is an ASEAN problem and not a western problem. Myanmar has the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea as its coastline. It is bounded by Bangladesh, Thailand, Laos and China. Only Bangladesh may help the west, and there is no 100% guarantee of that. There is no other way for the west to enter Myanmar. In addition Myanmar is supported by both Russia and China, and there is no way that they would allow any western support to the Myanmar "rebels". -
US defence secretary seeks to hearten Nato relations
billd766 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Alternatively it could not come next. Could, perhaps, maybe. More whataboutery. quote from the link "But delivering chem-bio weapons is difficult and dangerous even for well-trained professional soldiers. There is little to suggest Russian troops would be successful." There are many variables in using chemical and biological warfare and the biggest problem is the weather. If the wind speed increases or changes direction the weapon is less useful and far ore indiscriminate and you may get it back on yourself. NATO countries also have nuclear, chemical and biological (NBC) weapons and are regularly trained in their use as a defensive weapon. -
Mine went from 4,959 in March to 7,183 for April up about 45%. I run 2 freezers, 2 fridge freezers, my bedroom a/c about 14 hours a day and the lounge about 19 hours a day. Sadly the lounge a/c died 5 days ago and all the a/c guys are working flat out on new installations and repairing exist customers a/c. My meter is of the 1125 type.

Thai Private Sector Upbeat on China-Laos Railway Service

China and Laos use standard gauge line and Thailand uses metre gauge line. Unless Thailand changes to standard gauge and double track everything will need to be unloaded and reloaded at the Laos border. -

I disagree. IF Trump is re-elected he will try to impose a peace deal on the Ukraine but I don't think NATO, the EU or the UK will permit it. -
Federal prosecutors have considered four charges against Hunter Biden
billd766 replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
He is struggling to find anything, true or false, when the truth has been out for a long time. It is however a truth that he either cannot or will not accept. -
I just got my electric bill for April. I used 293 extra units of electricity and my bill went from 4.959 baht to 7,183 baht and the FT element this time was 1,206 baht compared to 844 baht. Sadly my lounge a/c died 5 days ago and all the a/c guys are busy with new installations and repairing existing ones.

Have YOU considered that you have no idea of what went on? You have nothing. Now unless you know more than the FBI investigators who have been working the case for more than a year, I suggest that YOU publish YOUR version of the truth and see have that sets against the FBI/DoJ version. YOU claim it, then YOU prove it. If you cannot, then stop your whining and very poor attempts at diverting the thread. BTW, please do NOT confuse "WE" as all of us, when you are talking about yourself, because you certainly don't speak for me. -
quote "Exactly, a young man was trying to enter his property." Were you there to know exactly what happened? All the UNARMED young man did was knock on the door according to the reports that I have read, and NO, I was not there either. If this feeble old man was simply defending his property, 1 Why did he not stay in locked away and immediately call the police? 2 Why did he open the solid dood in the first place and shoot through the screen door? 3 Why did he not ask any questions before opening fire on an UNARMED person? 4 Why did he give NO warning before opening fire?

Homeowner Kills 20-Year-Old Woman After Her Vehicle Pulled Into His Driveway
billd766 replied to Scott's topic in World News
If somebody you don't know comes up your drive, YOU seem to think it is OK to kill them. If somebody you don't know comes to your door, YOU seem to think it is OK to kill them. I am so glad that you live far away from me. -
I wonder what the cost of the insurance bill was and who paid it? I think that the insurance will keep rising every time there is a failure.

Resort Owner Shocked As Power Bill Soars Over 700,000 Baht
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Eastern Thailand News
IIRC it is a sort of key card and you have about 2 minutes of power, or less when you remove it. Most standard size credit, debit, drivers licence, store card etc will do a similar job. What size units were they in BTU, can you tell me please?
