  1. It is all about money. The people currently living there are poor, have no standing, have no influential low friends in high places and are in the way of "progress". They simply don't matter. and are of no consequence to the government or the SRT. They may even have squatters rights, but under the current mob running things they are simply a nuisance, and will have to go.
  2. BS post. Do YOU have any evidence or proof?
  3. Rubbish. At 2 years old I had no vision of a future. At 10 years old I knew I wanted to join the RAF and I did for 25 years. At 2 years old I only knew (more or less where I lived). At 65 I had lived and worked in 38 countries worldwide. Peoples thoughts. ideas and circumstances change as they grow older. What you thought of at 2 or 10 years old or even when you left school change your outlook on life. There are people in my old tow who perhaps have been on package holidays but have never left their rots behind, and they are happy with that.
  4. That happened 50 years and several generations ago. The world has changed during those 50 years, so has Thailand. There are not enough police or military to cover every city in Thailand 24/7 nor can they garrisoned 24/7/365. That is assuming that every policeman and every soldier is 100% loyal to the government. It seems that you have not.
  5. Most people here are not perfect but many of them will be suffering through their families and family businesses simply because 250 people are families, cronies and mates of the one man that appointed them to their lucrative fireproof UNELECTED position. Why should those senators families not suffer also? After all they are reaping the benefits of their husbands position, so why should they not reap the downside also?
  6. IMHO Thailand has reached the point where the government, military, HiSos et al cannot fool all of the people all of the time anymore, and the Thai people are now starting to push back.
  7. There are many many more unhappy Thai people out there then there are unhappy senators. They al least voted for who THEY wanted and by default they also voted for who they DON'T want. What they DON'T want is 250 UNELECTED senators telling them that they will be sued if they step out of line. What they DO want is what they voted for.
  8. Sadly the law is set up to protect them. Ignoring the law would be a better option.
  9. I am happy that you feel that way. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_United_States_presidential_election It is a shame that 81,283,501 US citizens disagree with you and only 74,223,975 agree with you. Isn't democracy a wonderful thing when the majority rules.
  10. Perhaps Fox should change their logo to "Fox Entertainment" which would most probably be more correct.
  11. I scroll down the page until I see who published it. If it says "Fox News" I simply go to the next post and ignore it. "Fox News" is like "Truth Social" for the MAGA and their supporters here on ANN. It is totally biased against President Biden and I personally rate it no better than the Daily Wail from the UK. I wouldn't even put my fish and chips in its wrapper.
  12. It would be better if the coup generals and the UNELECTED senators pack up and leave. I think that Myanmar, North Korea and perhaps Cambodia would take them in, no questions asked as long as they have plenty of money, and they do.
  13. Of course they can. Have you forgotten who wrote the rules and who regularly ignore the rules?
  14. If the caretaker government does not change they can re-appoint the existing senators once again
  15. It is already here in Thailand.
  16. I have an 18 year old son who has just started uni. Like you quote " I don't have a vote, but I certainly have a dog in this fight!"
  17. Thus speaks a typical ANN anonymous keyboard warrior. Would you be willing to literally put your life on the line?
  18. Life is worth living every day when you open your eyes and you know you are not dead. Life is worth living every day when you take your first breath and you know you are not dead. The best thing that you can do in life is simply take it 1 day at a time. I am 79 and I have a breathing and a balance problem. I also have a Thai wife and an 18 year old son who has just started Uni. They alone give me a good reason to live every day. I am also working to my 100th birthday and looking forward to an email of congratulations from King William V in 2044.
  19. I used to do most of my own cooking and down in the house I still have a table top oven and a microwave. I can do roasts, grilled food, bread etc and my wife will bring veggies down if I ask. In the last couple of months I have lost a bit of interest as I have a breathing and a balance problem.
  20. For me, tonight's evening meal is a burger with lettuce, onion and mustard mayo in a toasted bun, tastily cooked by 'er indoors. Nothing else.
  21. I doubt if eating one of those cheesies every so often will cause most people a problem. Eating 2 or 3 at a session, 2 or 3 times a day for weeks on end probably will.
