Pheu Thai party’s Paetongtarn top PM candidate in latest NIDA poll
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well the "will of the people voted for her father twice in free elections, and the second time, after being the first elected PM to complete a 4 year stint. The second time he and the TRT won an overall majority in government. The only way he was deposed was by a military coup, as was his sister, Yingluck? The Thai people voted them both into power. NOBODY voted the military coup generals into the power that they only hold at the point of a gun at the Thai people. Please tell us all what qualifications ANY general has in running a country? -

Phuket governor says go outside, smog is “natural phenomenon”
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Where DO they get these stupid people from? I am old enough to remember real smog back in the UK in the 1950s. No it wasn't natural and yes it killed many people. https://www.britannica.com/event/Great-Smog-of-London Great Smog of London, also called Great Smog of 1952, lethal smog that covered the city of London for five days, from December 5 to December 9, in 1952. It was caused by a combination of industrial pollution and high-pressure weather conditions. The smoke and fog brought London to a near standstill and resulted in thousands of deaths. Its consequences prompted Parliament to pass the Clean Air Act four years later, which marked a turning point in the history of environmentalism. -
The latest tragedy was in Dadeville, Alabama which, not to my surprise is Republican state. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65293737 As the town woke to the news on Sunday, Alabama's state governor Kay Ivey said: "This morning, I grieve with the people of Dadeville and my fellow Alabamians. "Violent crime has no place in our state, and we are staying closely updated by law enforcement as details emerge," the governor added in a statement on Twitter. Ivey is a strong supporter of second amendment rights - the right to keep and bear arms - and last year signed legislation ending a requirement to obtain a permit to carry a concealed handgun in public. Her candidacy for last year's governor election was endorsed by the National Rifle Association. Well governor Kay Ivey, the responsibility is 100% yours aided and abetted by the NRA and the GOP. Crocodile tears are NOT acceptable. Your resignation would be the only acceptable gesture at this point.

And if the UK government had not frozen my state pension back in 2009 it wouldn't look sad at all. -

How have you managed to work that out? ALL of my pensions come from the UK where I earned them and it is where I pay income tax. AFAIK NO UK pensioners get paid even 1 baht from the Thai government. So, how are we living on the backs of the Thai pensioners? In fact many of us support our wives elderly parents and even their families if there are enough funds to do so. -

Summer storms forecast for most of Thailand this weekend
billd766 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News

Of course guns kill people. It is what they are designed and made to do. It doesn't matter who is holding the gun, when it is pointed in the right (or wrong) direction it will kill, maim and injure people. If you want to keep the 2nd amendment then ONLY black powder weapons should be allowed, and no weapon made after 1800 to be allowed. Nothing should be enshrined for ever, and even the 2nd amendment is a variation from the original constitution. Make another amendment to the constitution, striking down the existing 2nd amendment.

Thailand’s political parties unveil policies to woo elderly people

I trust that the EC is checking ALL of the parties on where the money to pay for this is coming from? -
I celebrated SongKran at home today in the traditional family fashion. No water guns or bodyguards needed. The only I was unhappy about was that I had just had a shower and clean clothes. No big problem as I got the other stuff from the laundry bin. I could have done without the cool shower though. Used less than 5 litres of water, unlike himself.

Thank you. quote "The U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that, in the past five months, at least 4,300 Chinese undocumented migrants have been apprehended crossing the southern border, which amounts to more than double the number for all of the previous year." How many legal Chinese immigrants were there during the same period?
