She is in the hospital and you get a call from the doctor explaining that your wife is pregnant and unless she has an abortion she will die. By the state law he is not permitted to abort the unborn child. You live in a state where the male governor has decreed that an abortion will not be permitted under ANY circumstances at all. However you live close to the next state which does allow abortions though you may have to pay to save your wife's live. You don't have enough cash to pay for it and the insurance company will not pay for it either. So what will you do? Take your wife to the next state where she can have an abortion, and if necessary beg or borrow the money? Or let her die because some men in the state where you both live have passed a law stating that is is forbidden, despite the fact that she will die if she does not have an abortion? Remember that this is a hypothetical case, but it can be real for some people.

IMHO it always depends on where the immigration office is and what the staff are like. My nearest office is Kamphaeng Phet some 70 km away, and the staff are farang friendly. No agents work through the office. I renewed my marriage extension on Thursday last week and I forgot the bank letter. He asked me to go back and get it and he did my paperwork whilst I was at the bank. They rang my wife on Monday asking if a house visit was OK for Tuesday and 2 guy from Immigration turned up, asked a few questions of my wife and the 2 witnesses, took some photos and went on their way. If each school only had 4 buses that would be around 150,000 school buses that would be required and an average of 133 pupils per bus per day. The school that my son went to from M1 to M6 had at least 20 school buses, trucks, vans and pickups every school day, not counting the parents who drop and collect their children every school day by car, pickup, motorbike or scooter.

OK if the Thai lady can read English or read at all. Someone would need to translate for her as she may have dropped out of school when when she was young. How fluent are you at reading and writing in Thai. I am certainly not. You are assuming that both the American and the Thai both have access to the internet. That both of them know who they are looking for, and where to find people on the internet. I was drive testing mobile handoffs in Germany in 1999, but the internet was not very large back then, nor was it that good. The internet requires a large amount of bandwidth and a large amount of ground cabling plus underwater trans oceanic cabling. 25 years ago the internet was quite small and clunky and it still cannot keep up with demands even now. All it takes is one boat to rip up even 1 undersea cable and links simply die for hours or days until it can be repaired.

Perhaps his posting to Thailand finished and he was posted elsewhere. Perhaps his service commitment had expired and he was sent back to the USA and given an honourable discharge. Both are far more reasonable explanations than yours.
