If it's just to make a load of money off government "investment" robots will mean less danger of bad publicity and no need to pay wages. The difference is that Carter was a good man in the wrong position. Biden is IMO a bad man and leaves as a man in disgrace. His misdeeds finally caught up with him. However, should we blame the mentally challenged Biden for the failures of his presidency, or his handlers? I think his handlers are mainly to blame. Hamas has survived over a year being attacked by the most moral army on the planet, so I doubt something a blustering bufoon in the US is wobbling on about is going make them give the hostages up without a ceasefire and resumption of aid, at the least.

Perhaps because giving people capable of working for a living enough money to not need to work does not encourage people to work. Welfare should only be for people that are physically unable to work. That is the "trap".

When I say I have to do a task, it's not onerous. My days of hard work are long gone. I'd say my entire life now is relaxing. A task might be filing some papers- it's just something I'd rather put off, but needs to be done.
