IMO it was never supposed to work. It was supposed to shut up those that pointed out that the US was colluding in starving the population, but it would never have provided anywhere near enough supplies. Only a few trucks used it in its brief existence. Had Biden been serious they could send a very large landing craft that doesn't need a pier. I assume the US still has some of those. It does alarm some of us that are amazed the US Corps of Engineers can't build a pier fit for purpose. Didn't make sense that Biden didn't force netanyahu to allow the hundreds of trucks waiting at the land crossings, and does nothing much when settlers destroy the supplies. IMO Biden is as much to blame as netanyahu, and is colluding all the way.

And you overstate Russia's position -- 2.5 years in, Russia has made few substantive gains beyond the first few months. They likely have what they want, and don't need any more. BTW, the ones they had were not exactly a rousing success, and I haven't heard of any more been posted to Ukraine. What are you doing, living in your car ? Almost. Rental prices are out of control in NZ. People are living in cars, garages, etc. Even a ratty old caravan costs large now. Hundreds of families living in motels, subsidised by the government. There is a shortfall of thousands of houses since they brought in loads of immigrants. I had a lovely large hotel room with ensuite in Chiang Mai for less than I pay here, and I think I'm lucky to even have it. If I lose this I will be living in my car. Pension doesn't come close to paying for renting a decent place and eating as well. I don't even have space for a table. The computer is on my bed.

Don't go when it's hottest. The heat is brutal, and some of the tours don't go.

I think the hotel I stayed at was called Chicago Beach Hotel. The breakfast was not included and was too expensive, but they had a free van to go to town so I'd go into town for breakfast every day. Can't have been a memorable hotel as I remember nothing except that about it. That was back in the early 90s and I don't remember any hookers being around then.

Try the 60s. My last posting was to an airforce base, so the food was pretty good.

A married woman isn't guarantee of sex. Paying a woman to stay with you isn't a guarantee that you are the only one. Why short times? Has long time finished as an option? I always had a long time on holiday. When they become a problem, even a long time will leave if the money is cut off.

Both my disasters were fine for a few years, so how was I to know 4 years before it went sour what they were like? I've been better off without one than I was with one. Loneliness is preferable to living with someone that doesn't like one. I accept that there are good women out there, and some guys get lucky. I was just never that lucky.

The laughing was for thinking that she would be "different". No, That wasn't me. I got divorced, but not because she "cheated", and I didn't leave in a hurry. I stayed on a year by myself before I left.

Better an unmarried nobody than an exploited somebody. Nothing to do with age. The one in my 30s was just as rotten as the one in my 60s.
