  1. You miss the financial benefit to the usual suspects. IMO schemes like this are rarely about the supposed benefit to the populace, but they are about the expanded wallets of a few.
  2. Israeli forces abduct and kill Palestinians with appalling frequency with their raids into Palestinian areas. Do they not count because they are only Palestinians?
  3. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/french-president-emmanuel-macron-visit-israel-coming-days-2023-10-22/ French president Emmanuel Macron to visit Israel in coming days That is one leader that has to be concerned about the reaction to israel's attack on Gaza, given the very large and very angry Muslim population in France.
  4. I do believe in God, but in the cosmic sense, so to God a species killing itself to extinction is probably no big deal. After all, in the universe entire galaxies are being swallowed by black holes, so if the human race on an insignificant planet in an insignificant solar system exterminates itself it's nothing to get exercised about ( on a cosmic scale ). Perhaps the species that comes after us will be actually intelligent, and not consider killing itself to be a good thing.
  5. Perhaps it's just me, but I fail to understand how a nation with a history like theirs can then do much the same to the Palestinians. However, I consider humanity to be a horrid species so nothing surprises me at it's excesses.
  6. Is biden so useless that he has to "urge" caution on them. Given that he has all the tools he needs to force israel to do his bidding, he could demand that israel does what he wants. Just see if israel can survive without the US veto in the UN?
  7. All that will happen is that highly paid people will work out how to get the same restrictions on such activity by means that are legal, even if not very nice. BTW, why would people want to work for an organisation that they wanted to criticize in public. When I had a serious problem with my employer I left. Unlike in some parts of the world, most of us on here had that ability.
  8. Thank you for apparently replying to something on my behalf, and feel free to do so whenever you feel it is necessary. I have most of them on ignore, so I never see most of the posts in which they quote me. It makes for a far more pleasant posting experience as I don't have to keep reporting them for abuse.
  9. The inability of Palestinians to organise, unite, and work efficiently for a cause is down to the israelis desire to render the Palestinians impotent, by the restrictions on movement, separation of habitation areas by the walls, and the electronic interception of all phone use by Palestinians. The reason, no doubt, is that if the Palestinians were able to organise, unite, and work efficiently for a cause it might make it impossible for the israelis to steal all the Palestinian land. To date they are even unable to provide an effective deterant to the israelis penchant for raiding Palestinian areas and destroying infrastructure while leaving dead Palestinians in their wake, or repel the barbarous settlers with their increasing violent attacks on Palestinians.
  10. I think the last sentence is the relevant one, given the frequency of statements that it is necessary to bomb children because the evil Hamas are hiding behind them. That is the Hamas that is only armed with light weapons, but apparently they are an existential threat to the israelis which are armed with all the heavy weapons and high tech equipment it is possible to possess. Seems some think that just parroting "Hamas bad, israelis good" will cause all of us to overlook the over 1500 dead children in Gaza as justified "collateral damage" ( which have to be the most vile words ever invented, IMO ).
  11. IMO never going to happen. For decades israelis have been serving in the army which for most was just oppressing Palestinians. I can't see them accepting that the last 30 years was for nothing, and they may consider it their right to take over the entire West Bank.
  12. Exactly right. While sacrificing thousands of Gazans ( and increasing numbers of West Bank Palestinians ) may seem extreme, the calculation IMO was that many had to die to gain freedom from israel, as the usual small attacks were at a high cost in Palestinain lives and achieved nothing. The world is watching as the media thrusts the conflict into the television sets of billions, and probably billions don't like what they are seeing from the israelis with their indiscriminate bombing of residential areas, and over a thousand dead children. If that was the calculation, it seems to be working.
  13. 38 trucks does not make a success. Apparently 100 trucks a DAY are needed to go in. https://www.nytimes.com/live/2023/10/22/world/israel-hamas-war-gaza-news The United Nations said 14 more trucks carried aid into the enclave late Sunday as escalating clashes on Israel’s border with Lebanon and violence in the occupied West Bank raised fears the conflict could spill over.
  14. Is Biden wondering how it all turned to <deleted> so fast? Facing defeat in the election by a big bombastic liar, a disaster on the southern border, no pliable congress to hand over billions to israel, protests against israel/ America in many countries, and now it looks like his "ally" in israel is making itself very unpopular in the region and America may have to go back to war there if a certain large country that hates America decides to do something about israel.
  15. Did netanyahu mistake American support for invincibility? Did he think the world's Muslims would quietly accept the demise of Palestine and Palestinians? One wonders what the plan is for when israelis are murdered abroad in revenge? The "leaders" of the Arab countries may have been bought off by America and would have ignored the Palestinian tragedy, but the people in the street may have other ideas. Sisi would do well to remember what happened to a previous president that bent over too far to israel.
  16. A warm welcome has been made ready for the israelis in Gaza.
  17. Given the choice between accepting oppression for ever, or fighting back, which would you do? Is it better to live as a sheeple or die as a man? I can certainly agree with you that they hate every israeli.
  18. God isn't coming to save anyone. I think God gave up on humans long ago and left us to kill each other till there are no humans left.
  19. Are not over 1500 dead Palestinian children enough retaliation? How many dead Palestinians will it take to satisy the israelis? All of them? Every time the israelis kill a Palestinian they create more militants, and there are plenty of Palestinians outside Palestine where the israelis can't murder them. IMO there will be revenge on the israelis and no israeli will be safe outside israel. Days of rage indeed, and all over the world.
  20. I'm sure Biden's advisers will have informed him of the likely reaction from the world's Muslims, and especially of the Muslims in the US, if this situation ends up the way I suspect it will. I fail to understand why he has not elected to use the tools available to him to force netanyahu to call off the bombing, to send the army home and to let the aid trucks through. This conflict has already spread to Lebanon and in due course every American abroad may be looking over their shoulder.
  21. IMO if most western people understood the conditions the Palestinians live under, I'm sure the situation would change, but I'm sure most just don't care that much to find out. I'm also pretty sure the western media isn't big on pointing it out.
  22. Every israeli settlement in the west bank is illegal, ergo they should go to allow a Palestinian state. However, given the israelis will never agree to go voluntarily, seems israel will be oppressing the Palestinians for a very long time ( at least until the time America is no longer able or willing to protect them ) and brutalising their own youth. most of which have to serve in the military. Perhaps WW3 will happen and then the situation will be resolved as not many of us may be around after.
  23. Mud was and is an acceptable building material, but not for skyscrapers. I used to live in a house made with earthen walls, no different from a normal house except the walls were 3 feet thick. Outside Riyadh there is an historical city made entirely from mud. Grass roofs are also acceptable.
  24. I was there on the day 1 quid bought 99 baht. Didn't last long, but great days then.
