  1. Enjoy that then. I haven't had a good rib cracking laugh that left me gagging for breath with friends since the 70s. I think it's something to do with the world not being a place to have a laugh anymore. Even so called comedy shows on tv are not funny anymore. It's like whistling. When was the last time you heard anyone whistling for enjoyment? I can't even remember the last time I heard someone doing that.
  2. Time to go solar then. No excuse in a country with so much sunlight for not doing so. I'll bet his rooms all have airconditioners, and solar would work for them during the day. Of course he could go for the option that many resorts used when I was staying on beaches and only have power in the evening, and cold water showers.
  3. If Europe had Singapore's solution to drug dealers IMO it wouldn't have a drug problem.
  4. I did the single best thing I could have done as an individual to save the human race from the consequences of overpopulation, and had no children. I weep for the children of parents that believe in man made climate change and do nothing to change it except demonstrate that other people have to "do something" ( without ever saying what they should do ), and carry on with their overseas holidays by air and suchlike.
  5. If wanting to wander around with a kg of weed, best not stop over in Singapore.
  6. Yes, IMO the human world is mad, but if one wants to visit other countries, best abide their rules, and keep your opinions on such to oneself.
  7. Yes, that was indeed a possibility some years ago in Thailand and why I never used weed as I didn't want to be in trouble if I was randomly tested for being in a bar after I arrived. If anyone knew about that law and still used weed and got caught by random drug testing- that's on their dumb head.
  8. The "international community" abandoned women to a horrible fate in Afghanistan when they pulled out- why would they stop trading with Singapore just because they carry out the prescribed punishment for a crime that everyone in Singapore knows about?' You may dislike the law in Singapore, and want it changed, but you don't get a say if you ain't a citizen, and if the citizens accept it what business is it of any outsider?
  9. Not having a "heart" as you put it makes Singapore one of the safest places to live on the planet. Everyone knows that it's a crime to possess illegal drugs, and the penalties for doing so. Don't like the rules and want to smoke a lot of weed, go live in a country that allows it. I suppose the next thing will be people demanding that vandals shouldn't get caned.
  10. A house divided shall not stand! Yes, but IMO we were doomed long ago so we might as well learn to speak Mandarin.
  11. As you are quoting a poster that quoted me I assume you are making a snide remark about me, which is trolling, but regardless of that, I'm quite aware of the issues, but I don't believe that anything being done presently will make any difference whatsoever, and there are a lot of people that claim to be concerned that don't act concerned. If Di Caprio and Al Gore don't care about it ( they apparently use private jets ) why should I?
  12. You are insulting many millions of Americans and that's rude. BTW, the thread isn't about the election.
  13. Rather him than Joe or Harris. Put up a better candidate and I'd vote for them, if I could, over Trump.
  14. Now that's a huge deflection from what I said, isn't it! Did I say I cared about the old biddies or my MIL? I enjoyed living in the village till I didn't and then I moved to Lamphun.
  15. Strange reply. It's like most of the vehicles on the planet are electric and ICEs are a minority. Fossil fuel was the thing that allowed the human race to advance beyond horses and whale oil. Without fossil fuel most in cities would starve. That's not going to change any time soon, if ever before the oil actually runs out, IMO.
  16. Do people really never take any precautions when they go to another country? Do they leave their common sense at Thai immigration? If they carry the bag in front of themselves it's quite hard to cut them without the victim noticing.
  17. Yeah, IMO you really must be old, and no one has to pay a Thai gogo girl to perform either.
  18. Because they are more attractive than the ones on a pole back home, and if one likes one can take them back to hotel for the night without taking out a mortgage on the house. As for the beer, there is no cover charge, so does anyone expect beer at 7 11 prices?
  19. No one has to buy more than one drink in any Thai gogo I ever went in, no matter how long they stay. If people pay more than they need, that's their problem. It's also not compulsory to buy anyone a drink or pay a bar fine, and if they wish, a girl can sit with a customer without the customer having to pay for their time. I did that often enough.
  20. That is probably the best explanation for the raid. IMO either he wasn't paying enough, or some "influential person" wanted to take the bar over.
  21. Although I've been alive for many years and seen a lot, I still can't work out why any woman would willingly be associated with scum like that. Sadly, such relationships are not uncommon. My first partner married a man she knew to be violent and had 2 children with him before she left him. When I asked her why, she replied that she thought she could change him. I despair about humanity.
  22. In NZ there are draconian laws about guns, but apparently more gun incidents than in the past before such laws came into effect. While the cops don't routinely carry weapons they apparently have them available in their cars, and IMO it's just a matter of time they join the Australians and are armed at all times. I certainly think they should be, given the amount of gang crime in the country.
  23. Does anyone NEED to go to the movies, or a restaurant etc? Till they ban hunting, it's best to allow a weapon that actually kills the game, rather than wounding it.
  24. While you may have a point, what would you do about the easy availability of weapons on the black market? Anyone that wants a gun can get one. America has many millions of weapons, and no criminal will have a problem acquiring as many as they want.
