  1. Sometimes in the movies they put coloured people in white roles, but one doesn't know till after paying to watch. In a recent movie about Mary, Queen of Scots they cast a black man as a Sottish nobleman- did they think we wouldn't notice?
  2. Australia needs skilled people and pays more than NZ, so probably the only thing holding some back was IMO the lack of social security in Oz. NZ is losing out in the race to attract skilled people as not paying enough for same jobs. The government is apparently desperate as is now apparently offering immediate residency for people in certain occupations.
  3. I'm not and I always lock my door when inside. Have done so since the 1980s when there was an upsurge of criminals entering to steal while owners leaving door unlocked while in the house.
  4. Unless he was actually "breaking" the door, I doubt that is a valid reason to kill him.
  5. I might agree with you if the young man had actually gained entrance. I think even in America they have to actually enter the premises for it to be a lawful kill. There is a reason for locking one's door even when inside.
  6. Significant to me that while the west is pouring billions into a European war, they apparently give no support to the unfortunate people that oppose a vile regime. Even a few anti air missiles of the sort they gave the Afghans against the Russians would help. Is it because they are Asian that they get no assistance?
  7. I already said that I'm not with the conspiracies on that, so it was an amazing feat, but they were incredibly lucky to survive. I'm sure they knew there were no guarantees that they would return, but went anyway. They are my definition of "real men".
  8. Dirt, to my knowledge isn't polluting, and can be used to build up areas prone to flooding so houses can be built on them.
  9. and also worth pointing out that the pollution is caused so people in rich countries can pretend that they are doing something by driving electric cars. Apparently without rare earth metals there are no windmills or electric vehicles.
  10. It's not lethal to dirt.
  11. So, if people are displaced, why is it that their choice is to pay criminals to take them to a foreign country they can't get into legally? Is it not their countries responsibility to help them IN their own country?
  12. Try killing a deer with a .22. It would only wound, so are you advocating for cruel deaths for animals? What about farmers having to put down an injured cow? you think a .22 could kill one of those?
  13. I wasn't aware that you have seen me to know that .
  14. I'm not joining in the conspiracy theories, but it was an amazing feat for them to blast off from the moon at exactly the right time to meet the mother ship without running out of fuel, and done probably before decent computers were small enough to put in the capsule ( the rockets were apparently designed by engineers using slide rules ).
  15. Are you claiming he made a "mistake" by carrying 1 kg of weed? LOL. A mistake would be putting a dope ciggy in a pocket and forgetting about it. I never allowed anyone near an unlocked case of mine before I flew for that exact reason and never carried anything for anyone without checking it first.
  16. Here is an interesting take on the war by two US men that know what they are talking about.
  17. Similar story. In London I was on the tube late at night and saw a guy snatch a phone from a girl and try to escape out of the door. I didn't think about it and tried to stop him, but he escaped. Had I thought about it I don't think I'd have tried as he was young and strong and could have stabbed me. There were several other guys in the carriage, but none tried to help me as I was wrestling with the guy, not even the girl that lost the phone.
  18. Not strange to me. I've used that all my life.
  19. No women like those in Thailand, for a start. I visited Cyprus once and a taste of their "nightlife" put me off going there for that again. LOS is the cheese when it comes to that sort of thing.
  20. Can't always only pay 2 nights at a time. I stayed at a place in Pattaya on a couple of days down and the owner ( a Brit, not a Thai ) gave the receptionist an earful for it. Luckily I was already leaving, or I would have. I did normally pay a week in advance on second day if I liked the place, but got caught on Thong Nai Pan Yai when the first night was peaceful and every night after was ruined by a party bar on the beach. Was refused a refund but I left anyway, even if I lost a few days payment, as couldn't sleep for the racket.
  21. If that is what caused me to be born to the parents I was born to, that would only confirm that I must of been a bad dude in a previous life.
  22. I've been saved from a likely death many times in my life, and I remember most of them. Also times like when a tree fell on me and should have broken my femur, but didn't. The main time was when I had my prostatectomy just before it spread, after waiting a few years. However, I don't recall that I changed my outlook on life because of those incidents, though I did try to avoid having trees fall on me. They didn't bring me to believe in God either- that was something unrelated to near death experiences.
