  1. I don't see anything about "fighting climate change". What I see is a few people making a lot of money by using "climate change" to scare people. IMO we could stop using any fossil fuel today and it wouldn't make an iota of difference. Damage is done already and can't be undone, IMO.
  2. That was certainly true when driving in LOS. One didn't get anywhere fast if one didn't drive like them.
  3. My wife's mother was a well known woman in the village and all the old women used to gather under the house to gossip. I knew they were talking about me as they frequently referred to "the farang", and I was very happy to not understand what the old harpies were saying about me, as my MIL hated me. Personally I had no problem not having conversational Thai language skills as I never found a Thai I wanted to have a conversation with that didn't speak English.
  4. Fair enough, but you are not some casual customer that no one knows and just wants to take photos of the girls in a gogo. However, as I said things could be different now.
  5. You were lucky not to hit him. These days you'd be arrested for that, IMO.
  6. I agree that it's adventurous types that move to LOS, even if they stop once there. Of all the people I know in home country, most never left, or just go on an occasional package holiday abroad. I'm definitely not normal on that life style.
  7. IMO that would be true of those that found the "little woman", gave her parents a huge dowry, bought her a house, a car, give her an "allowance" so she can paint her nails and watch soaps all day, and support her family. They probably don't have any money left to go traveling. ????
  8. and some of us can "make it" at home, but chose to move to LOS instead, even the posters that you hear from daily.
  9. Apparently those that just drop in to add a negative comment would not have a clue as to whether the thread has gone somewhere or not.
  10. IMO the brakes don't work anyway. IMO it's more about making money than about actually doing anything.
  11. and does anyone think that it's stoppable now? IMO no matter how many windmills they build and how many electric cars they sell, damage done. Better start learning how to deal with the effects, rather than going to junkets in 5 star resorts to have a long chat about it.
  12. Here we go again. How many attempts does this make? Makes me wonder if it's all about deflecting public attention from something "they" don't want exposed.
  13. Ah, you found him guilty already! LOL.
  14. Have you forgotten the similar that happened to NASA first attempts to launch a rocket, and even after they were able to do so successfully? Early days. I suspect those that were qing up to join the Mars expedition may have second thoughts. However, the cost at this time is perhaps too much and better uses for the money than vanity projects.
  15. Does anyone actually think the taliban are NOT diverting the money from the Afghan people?
  16. I'm pretty sure fossil fuel isn't subsidised in NZ. It is taxed a whole lot though.
  17. Hmmmm. If we continue polluting our environment ( not talking about climate change ) it's likely to be irrelevant as the oceans will probably die. and mankind hasn't found a safe way to deal with this I'm pretty sure they know how to deal with it safely, but don't want to pay for it.
  18. If it actually happened, money would be useless IMO. It will revert to a barter economy and if one just takes it one will likely get a bullet in the head.
  19. If that's correct I must have been a real bad guy in my last life.
  20. 5555555555555555555 No, I knew lots of good people in my life, but moving around tends to lose them as friends and I've been moving all my life. I blame the bad ones for being bad to me. I have moved on and I have a few good friends and no wish to find more. I only have the few because I've known them for decades, and if not for them would not want any. I am a rock, by Simon and Garfunkel says it all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKlSVNxLB-A
  21. Let's hope they don't use lithium or rare earth metals then.
  22. LOL. IMO they already took over. Real men know to keep their heads down and say nothing in public about it.
  23. I'd have got snipped except back then they wouldn't do it if the guy hadn't had kids already. My first partner had an hysterectomy and a prostatectomy solved the problem for when I got married ( Cialis works ).
  24. Going by my present age problems, I have no wish to see 79, let alone 80
