Biden’s poll numbers look grim as he preps for reelection bid

Never heard of Kristi, but I hope she is the beauty you refer to. Christie is not many's idea of beauty! -
Biden’s poll numbers look grim as he preps for reelection bid

I don't follow your post. I didn't like Hillary and I don't like Harris, and I'd vote for anyone that wasn't them if I was able. I've often said I'd have voted for Bernie had he been an option. Perhaps you can provide some evidence that I'm a self proclaimed progressive, whatever you mean by that. I'd prefer things the way they were in the 1950s to early 60s, before the Vietnam war started, so I don't think I'm a progressive. -
Trees grow for extra month as planet warms, study finds

People generally see things in single issue terms. The greenies are failing because they don't explain their agenda in a way that most will accept. -

Forest fires are a natural event, not a catastrophe. Only a problem because people choose to live in them. If trees grow longer they will store more carbon. Stop cutting the world's forests down then. IMO the greatest hypocrisy of the so called green agenda is that they do more about building windmills than saving forests. -
They are apparently ignorant of the probability that jobs won't be in a specific location any more. Covid showed that office people can work from home, and real jobs will likely be eliminated by AI/ robotics. I can see us returning to villages where everything is within walking distance. The town I live in is like that. No need for a car if one can walk or use a bicycle or mobility scooter.

Do you believe in God and why

There was a discussion about karma a while back. I might have just seen a real life example. Where I live, there was an evil guy who stole from me. He came across as a really great guy till he got what he wanted, then showed his true colours. He died in a traffic accident. I wonder if that was karma, or just stuff that happens. -
I watched that, but they are IMO numpties for thinking life will be like now, but with a lot more smart technology. How's that going to happen when AI/ robotics means most of us won't have a job and are surviving on the ludicrous "living wage"? It's going to be great for the people with loadsacash, but for the rest of us it'll be horrible, IMO.

Really Wish I Hadn't Invited My Friend To Visit
thaibeachlovers replied to Brewster67's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Count yourself blessed then. That's one more real friend than most have. What I feel sad about is when people that I thought were my real friends turn out to be not so, like the guy I knew for 25 years, but stole a large sum of money from me, and didn't even feel guilty. -
So ...your on the downhill run
thaibeachlovers replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
To enjoy life one needs something to be passionate about. Without passion, life is just something to get through till it's over. I was passionate all my life, and had an amazing life, but it's hard to be passionate about anything when half an hour of work is exhausting and one has no one to share one's life with. -

You forgot to include "has a good amount of money and has a decent place to live in" Without those two items old age is a drag. -
A "big name" I saw was Dire Straits. It was an enjoyable concert but I was so far away from the stage it was like watching tv from the back of a big room. I could have bought a VDO instead and enjoyed that as much. The last group I saw was the one with Kris Kristofferson in it. Saw it in Bkk and so far away I could barely see them.

We all know the end is coming but we don't know when. If I knew when my ending was I'd be in LOS spending large on women, but I don't so I'm not. As for procrastination, it's not lack of desire to do things, but rather that my body is no longer capable of much.

and I will keep repeating because he was seen as the better of the two realistic options that were given on election day. I would have preferred Bernie to either of them, and I said it at the time, but he wasn't on the ballot. If and when the US voters are given a choice of a good candidate, of either party or perhaps an independent, IMO they will vote FOR that person, rather than AGAINST a bad candidate. In the US, voting for the POTUS isn't the same as voting for a party, so one can elect a president that isn't part of the house parties.

Does them being single and poor mean they don't understand the link between sex and pregnancy? If not, then they chose to do something that made them pregnant, or they were raped. If they were raped I agree they should be able to have an abortion. If they chose to have sex without contraception, then that's on them. How about taking responsibility for their actions and not creating something that requires killing an unborn human. Lets stop talking about a foetus as if it's a malignant tumour, and call it what it is, an unborn human person.

Montana becomes first US state to pass ban on TikTok
thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I put it in the same category as smoking tobacco, something that was very, very popular for a very long time, till it was realised that it kills people. Tik tok may not kill people like tobacco, but it's part of social media which IMO is destroying a civil society. -

I would have thought the same when I was under 30 if such existed. I'm against social media in general, and things like tik tok in particular.
