Do you believe in God and why
thaibeachlovers replied to ivor bigun's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Rubbish. Even when I was religious it wasn't the one my parents were in. Every child is born knowing nothing, an empty slate that will be written on by everyone that they come to know in life. -

Apparently you read without comprehension. That is your problem and not one I'm going to attempt to resolve. Believe whatever you will, as I'm not trying to convert anyone. Foolish? Seriously? if recognising that everyone has a viewpoint and is entitled to it, whatever I may believe, is foolish, then yes, I'm foolish and I take pride in that. A closed mind learns nothing. -

None of that has anything to do with spirituality, IMO. The most spiritual people had nothing to do with "money", living lives without greed. The most spiritual people lived without trying to get rich off of it. The people that use spirituality to get rich off others are no more spiritual that the pie I ate for breakfast, IMO. -

You believe that the universe had no beginning, but it has an end ( when all the stars run out of fuel ), and if it has an end ergo it has to have had a beginning, IMO. Many, including myself, believe in the Big Bang, but what caused it, and where did the material to make the universe come from? Unless one believes that matter can just magically appear, one has to believe that it was created somewhere, and by some force- which is what I believe to be "God". You said " I can't deny there are powers greater than myself in the universe.", so you apparently believe in the same thing, except I call those powers God, and you do not. You, of course, have every right to believe or not believe anything, but given that a scientist that is exploring the origins of the universe says they don't know 95% of what is out there ( on an Al Jazeera news item few days ago ) how can anyone definitely say that there is no God? If you don't believe in a creator God, how do YOU think the universe happened? Was there a big mass of gas ( the universe started as a cloud of gas, or so I understand ) just floating around in empty space? Where did it come from? How were the laws of physics created to make the gas become stars and planets? How did humans evolve to have intelligence ( the dinosaurs were not exactly geniuses )? Was it magic? So many questions are raised if one does not believe in a creator God. -

and you, buckwheat, have no idea of what I'm talking about, not that I particularly care what someone that only just came on here has to say about what I believe, or not. -
Yes I rode a m'bike in LOS. I rode it for thousands of miles in LOS when added up. I was also an experienced m'bike rider in own country. Yes, I understood the risks. However, nothing could have avoided being driven into while I was stationary by a driver not looking where he was going, other than being psychic, which I'm not. When you are in that much pain, who cares about money. The hospital does. Can't pay, don't expect much. Don't like it, don't ride a m'bike in LOS.

Don't be too hard on him, as she was probably the first woman that was nice to him in his life. I was the same the first time I stayed in Bkk. Fell madly in love with the girl I met in a massage place, but after I went back to work I realised she was rather ugly, so I fell out of love pronto. IMO Thai girls have a sort of magic that makes farangs fall in love with them against everything they know about women. BTW, I didn't build her a house or even pay for a sick buffalo, though I did give her too much money for her services- a rather large tip!

Thailand is not a nanny state. People from welfare paradises often forget that all the world is not as their country. Do the research, protect yourself, don't blame the country you visited if it's your mistake. Far as I know, even western countries are only obliged to do first aid, and are not liable to carry out follow up procedures.

IMO wrong. Domestic abuse will continue as long as women are willing to live with bad men. Men don't generally change, and the signs will be there at the beginning. Some women, IMO, are so desperate to get married that they will marry anyone that asks no matter how bad he is, then they complain when he behaves in the way he always did. My ex married a bad man that she knew was bad. When I asked her why she married him if she knew he was a violent drunkard, she replied that "she thought she could change him"! She didn't leave him till after he traumatised the two children that they had together. BTW, cops are not social workers.

I can only speak for myself, but I invested too much in the relationship to walk away till it got to the point i had no option but to do so. Also, it was my last chance to live in LOS till I died. I lost both the relationship and the chance to live in LOS when I got divorced, to my eternal regret.

LOL. I remember going into a posh Singapore hotel and not checking the price. I had to pay after eating and the price was a "bit" more than what I expected! After that I stuck to a roadside food court.
-
While I agree with what you say about people not washing their hands, no one gets the food out of the dish with their hands, and as long as the kfc are clean, I don't see the big deal about it. No worse than opening a door with the handle and rubbing your mouth or eyes after. The attraction for me was that after I filled my stomach I didn't need to pay for lunch or even dinner sometimes.
-
Perhaps because it was unprofitable to provide that at an affordable price.

I was happy with the Lek buffet breakfast and it wasn't anywhere near 500 baht. It's obviously not haute cuisine, but it had a good selection, western and Thai, and I never got sick off it. If popularity is anything to go by it was a winner. Another hotel across the road a bit, I think the A something hotel had a similar buffet breakfast. If I wanted a decent big brekkie I'd walk over to Soi Buakhao and get one in a proper restaurant.

Why are we seeing so many UFO'S now ?
thaibeachlovers replied to Social Media's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I see we think alike about the human race. Given the universe is quite old, it's likely that the first planets to support life have civilisations far more advanced than ours, and if so we may have come to their attention as a likely threat if ever we manage to escape into space. They may be assembling asteroids as we speak. -

If they are gathering, IMO it's getting ready to annihilate us as a potential threat to the peace loving people's of the universe if we ever manage to start traveling in space. -
I'm sure that you know that many women say they want a man with a sense of humour, but the best reply to that was the guy that said if they were serious, Ken Dodd should have been very popular with the ladies. ????

Good looking women that marry gangsters would be marrying down. However, I'm not claiming that looking good makes them any more intelligent than a rock.
