I was similar till she decided I was yesterday's news. I had to pay her 20 baht for the haircut as she claimed it was something to do with "Thai culture". Unfortunately she was the untidiest person I ever lived with, and I did the housework. As for ironing, never do that for myself, as in my clothes are never ironed. Don't wear anything that needs ironing. I let her do the laundry as she insisted on hand washing it before putting in the machine. Given she was a chef I was happy to let her do the cooking.

Electric vehicles of all kinds
thaibeachlovers replied to Kanada's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Unless they invent a new sort of battery soon, lack of raw materials may make that a bad dream. Also if too many all electric cars are owned, the source of electricity may be causing "problems" as not enough available in many countries to vastly expand electric car numbers, without using fossil fuel to generate it. IMO they should be going hydrogen and I'm not the only one thinking that. Personally, I wouldn't buy an electric car unless it can do a 7 hour journey with no longer than 15 minutes to recharge half way, which is what I do in a petrol car. -
There was reason Lazenby didn't get to do a repeat. Unfortunately, IMO, Brosnan did get to play the man, as he was my least favourable Bond. IMO, Connery was Bond, and they should have ended the specifically Bond movies with his departure, though spin offs would have been acceptable. At least that way they could have put a woman in the leading role without it being sacrilege.

Depends entirely on how long it is before mongers are able to return in significant numbers with enough money, on whether the cops go crazy trying to make up for lost "income", on whether the hotels don't go crazy trying to make up for lost income, on whether the bar girls don't go crazy trying to make up for lost "income", on whether the restaurants don't go crazy trying to make up for lost income, on whether the airlines, airports, bus companies don't go crazy trying to make up for lost income, on whether the government doesn't go crazy trying to make up for lost "income" with loads of extra taxes, anything else that might want to make up for lost earnings. Also depends on whether the bar girls go on line and don't bother returning to the bars.

LOL. That's basically what happened when they built Promenada shopping mall in Chiang Mai. Must have cost a very large pile of money to erect, and virtually empty of shoppers apart from the supermarket. Having the immigration there probably doubled the visitor numbers, IMO.

You write as though you know nothing about Thai culture as it used to be a while back ( it's changing ), and impart western cultural values to Thailand, which is just wrong in so many ways. If you don't know what you are talking about, should you be commenting on a personal level on here? As for the category that in your opinion I belong to it's certainly no worse than the category I'm putting you in. Bye.

I always thought it best to not see inside a kitchen of the many small Thai beach resorts I stayed at. I once had a glimpse of one and thought it better not to know in future. As one that grew up before sterility became a big thing I probably developed some immunity from ingesting germs with my food. The worst case of food poisoning I ever had in Thailand was after eating in a western style expensive restaurant that would have been expected to have a clean kitchen, and the other bad case of food poisoning was from eating at a well known fast food restaurant in a western country.

Avian flu was a unique event, like covid, not the norm. I was referring to the norm. I AM a nurse and well aware why masks are worn during surgery. The masks we used were not the cheap variety that Thais wear for pollution. You said "You say flimsy surgical masks offfer no protection" which you are making up as I didn't say they offer "NO" protection. They offer some, but not much as air can enter from the sides. As for Bkk, I specifically said "outside cities"- Bkk is, the last time I was there, a city. They didn't wear masks in Chiang Mai during burning season any more than any other time of year in my experience.

Who runs Thailand is nothing to do with any of us, and never made any difference to me ( except for purachai ), so I find it puzzling that a foreigner would be "elated" by Thai politics.

Mayor explains why Pattaya keeps on flooding
thaibeachlovers replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I'll be sorry if they go out of business, as Thai was the only airline I'd fly that did Bkk Auckland direct. Hated stopping off in Oz and having to get off the plane, go through security etc. -
Everyone will be exposed vs. everyone will be infected?
thaibeachlovers replied to Jingthing's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
IMO it'll be like the flu- always there, but not considered a big deal by most. I've had the flu injection, and I don't go around worrying about it. -
You wuz lucky then. The times I was treated fairly by my masters and bosses were notable by their rarity. Most of the time I just tried to keep my head down and not be noticed. Also treated very badly by people I knew and didn't expect to screw me over. As for 90 day report- it's their country and they can do whatever they like. I was happy 90 day report ( and extensions ) were as bad as it got ie not very bad at all, compared to what might have been.

If I could go back to that moment I first saw my wife to be I would still follow through, as we had a good life for some years, but I'd do a lot of things very differently, such as refusing to go live in the village, which was when it started to go wrong. What I'm asking, is, if you had the chance, would you avoid her completely as too toxic to contemplate, or, was there enough potential to try again, but not same same?
