  1. My thoughts too.
  2. I had covid. No trouble breathing and mainly a bad cough. Lasted about a week, though long covid made me tired for a long time after.
  3. Depression IMO has to be caused by chemicals being released in the brain, or anti depressants wouldn't work. As to why they are released, I don't know. I used to think I was depressed, but anti depressants didn't work on me ( though they did make me impotent ). Took me a long time to work it out, but I'm sad because of what happened in my early childhood that was never resolved. My parents never got over it the rest of their lives either. Unfortunately there are no legal drugs for sadness. However, back then I doubt psychologists were considered as a solution, and people were left to make the best of it they could ( or not, as the case may be ).
  4. In that event expect an exit from Florida of many homeowners. Who would pay to rebuild when it could just get blown away again next year or sooner?
  5. I fully expect that when the Dems lose the house ( if not the senate as well ) they'll be making certain accusations ). ????
  6. Britman's post was probably a joke. Gave me a laugh. Why would anyone object to it?
  7. That's not my quote. You need to attribute it to Bluespunk. I was quoting him.
  8. Boris was amusing so I'm sorry he's gone. Far as I can see none of the current lot of politicians anywhere are doing a good job, so IMO it doesn't really matter whether it's bad or worse in charge..
  9. Fair enough. I'm not very interested in UK politics, so not really, though I did realise that she replaced Johnson as PM.
  10. I honestly did not believe at first the tory base would be stupid enough to vote in truss.
  11. I thought the party MPs selected the PM, not the voters.
  12. The thing I most remember about Gordon was the 6 BILLION quid he wasted on the NHS, given he apparently didn't target it to making the NHS a better organisation, and it was used to create more managers and make fancier buildings in my experience.
  13. Sadly such is from a better age. We are IMO in the long and slow decline to disaster ( well perhaps not so long given what is happening ) and removing police from where they can be most effective at preventing crime, rather than reacting to it, is just part of that decline. I doubt the trend to removing police from efficiency is any more likely to be reversed than the likelihood of politicians working for the betterment of the poor.
  14. Since when did the markets care about anything but greed making money? I don't know if what she is doing will work or not, but I wouldn't base my opinion of her on the market.
  15. I've generally supported you till now, but the idea that China would rule Australasia is anathema to me. I hope it never ever happens. If that means supporting the USA, I'm in boots and all.
  16. Which thanks to the electoral college doesn't mean much if the increase is in states that already vote Democrat.
  17. Only to be expected his popularity would increase. IMO and likely that of many, this is just another witch hunt by those that hate Trump because he dared to intrude into the world of politics against the exclusive "club" that apparently think it's "theirs".
  18. I was at all male boarding schools from age 11 and went farming in the wop wops after I left school, so I missed out on all that. I think I was lucky as didn't get trapped into marriage and was able to join the military and travel the world. I prefer the world to marriage, kids and divorce.
  19. That statutory rape is an American thing, isn't it? Most countries IMO take the attitude it's rape, if unwilling, or it's either legal, or not legal depending on age, which can vary from early teens to late teens. In Thailand if parents agree, legal age is 15. It is probably younger in other countries. One should not judge everywhere by American standards.
  20. LOL. Wasn't he the "not Trump" candidate?
  21. I knew Biden is old but I just looked it up and he's 79. What the <deleted> was he thinking when he stood for the presidency? What the <deleted> were people thinking when they voted for him? No wonder his "style" is of an old man that should be sitting by the fireplace having a nice retirement, not attempting to run the largest democracy on planet Earth, and as for standing again in '24, SERIOUSLY?
  22. Where's 007 when we need him? I don't think leaders of the world are keen on assassinating other leaders given that they might be the target if they did authorize such. As for the US https://www.hsdl.org/?view&did=445986 ABSTRACT EXECUTIVE ORDER 1233 AND ITS PROHIBITION ON ASSASSINATIONS, by Major Kimberly A. Cowen, USA, 63 pages. Through an executive order, the United States forfeited assassination as an instrument of foreign policy.
  23. Given that asteroids likely come in different sizes and composition this experiment may be of limited usefulness. However, I'm sure Bruce will be standing by for the call to save us.
