  1. I shouldn't be at all surprised if he hasn't come in his underpants! Poor people being driven out of what little they have got, masked thugs swaggering around the American capital, National Guard soldiers on the streets... What's not for the enthusiastic fascist to like! Now how about some robust justice for elderly, rich, powerful people ( politicians even) who have trafficked, abused and yes, raped little girls?
  2. They want 8. They have 4. Not only do they plan to build 4 from a standing start and with no experience, but they are also going to have to find experienced and trained crews for them. Hmm.
  3. As so often, you ignore the simple truth that Russia/Putin launched an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. If it was an attempt to seize control of the 4 "oblasts" that they now wish to incorporate into Russia, why then did they launch a (hideously botched) unsuccessful attempt to seize Kiev?
  4. So not just two World Wars and one World Cup but Marmite as well! Good oh!
  5. Marmite is expensive I will grant you. Of course if you want a cheaper (and markedly less palatable) alternative Vegemite is usually available in both Big C and Tops. There, that will have set the cat amongst the pigeons with our antipodean members!
  6. I very occasionally buy Stilton ( and other English Cheeses) from "Tops". They often have a reasonable variety, and whilst expensive it is certainly not that expensive!
  7. Well it worked out well for the Taliban, he sold out to them. He will almost certainly sell out to Putin at this meeting.
  8. A balanced opinion, a chip on both shoulders!
  9. Zelensky, and by extension Ukraine, do have a certain stake in the matter!
  10. It is all, as always, about control. The (predominantly clad in uniforms - green, brown or khaki) part of society have identified a new field of activity, agricultural and/or for pleasure, over which they wish to exert control. Given their less than stellar success in other longer term efforts (management of road traffic regulations for example) it will likely become a bureaucratic nightmare, fail to be implemented and be ignored. As for involving village heads - ha ha ha. Our clown cannot even organise the rubbish collection (apart from collecting the money) or keep the water supply flowing!
  11. Personally, I don't hate America. I dislike what Trump is doing to it. He is turning it into a reflection of his personality, and since I find him amoral, deceitful, boastful, fundamentally dishonest, brazenly suppressing and hiding truth, racist, sexually exploitative and perverted, utterly self centred, and physically and intellectually bizarre and ridiculous; then I dislike what it (the USA) is becoming. Perhaps @Tug and some others on here, Americans or not, feel similar? All those traits will be evident, no doubt, both individually and nationally in the forthcoming meeting.
  12. I suspect we may be making too much of the whole ballroom question? After all, towards the end and just after the end of the last Trump Administration they ( ballrooms) played a central role in the storage of classified documents; in fact, a certain ballroom and it's adjacent khazi in Florida might be set to have set the "gold standard" in such matters!
  13. I see that this ground-breaking deal has been celebrated with the introduction a new £20 banknote, in a plastic laminate so that it doesn't get damaged by water during "ad-hoc" channel crossings!
  14. They will have to increase the pension age then!
  15. I wasn't getting "in a tizz". I was merely expressing an opinion, on what I suspect may happen, which I perhaps naively imagined was rather the point of a discussion forum, which encompasses a range of views. As was@The Cyclist
  16. I misread the headline as : Judges Doubt Govt. as Trump Just Debt Misleads & Dodges Orders. Two conclusions: 1) not particularly surprised. 2) must investigate a new pair of spectacles!
  17. Of course - "everyone knows" that! Not a very secret "secret directive" though!
  18. I rather suspect that Rickey Jones's trial, after perhaps an initial hearing will be further delayed, probably effectively indefinitely. Wouldn't it be ironical (although perhaps not surprising) if Lucy Connoly completes her sentence whilst he is still awaiting trial.
  19. She would be unwise. The same ludicrous political zealotry which gave her such a rapid trial and savage sentence will have no compunction at all in finding a reason to recall her to serve the remainder of her sentence. The problems we read of in the OP, chaos and inadequate resources in the prison and probation service, will certainly not get in the way of supervising her.
  20. Is that what is known as doing a "Vance"? - the sofas of course, I am not accusing the esteemed Vice President of being a cocaine user!
  21. Apropos of Swiss Chocolate - why is Toblerone triangular? Well, obviously, if it was square it wouldn'tfit in the box!
  22. Well if that organisation is a bank, and the individual has a record of defaulting on loans, then yes!
  23. She is not actually convicted perjurer. She is a convicted felon - one might say not the only person involved in the scandal to be a convicted felon!
  24. Now she has said he was not involved there are two options for dealing with her - release her or "make her go away".
