Something for you all to ponder.....Possibility that he upset a non-member of the brown envelope brigade. Someone non political who could buy & sell all the generals every day of the week.

"Is it safe to assume alcohol will be on sale in Pattaya throughout Songkran as normal"?
The word normal and Pattaya do not really belong in the same sentence. But in recent years there was restrictions placed upon such as street vendors and drink promotion companies selling alcohol at the festivities along Beach Rd, but it did not affect the bars.
What will happen this year? Unfortunat6ely despite what we might hear only time will tell.
"The word normal and Pattaya do not really belong in the same sentence." Yes, perfect example of Oxymoron !

"We plan to have a child in the next few months." A few questions if I might be so bold ! Is the G/F pregnant ? Are you planning an adoption ? You will consummate the relationship in the near future ? You have found a miracle solution to the average 9 month gestation period ?

Hi all. I'm kinda hijacking this post, but like to make sure I understand all of the above. I have to reapply for road tax shortly. My car was manufactured in 2011 & first sold in 2012. I guess I'll have to take it for an inspection at an authorised test station, garage. I have just paid my first class annual insurance. Papers, certificate arrived in the mail today.
So, after I get the car inspected I go to LTO with inspection certificate & insurance papers ? Pay for Govt. compulsory insurance & road tax & off I go ? Oh, does LTO need to see the first class insurance policy or they not really interested in that ?
Thanks in advance..... Mal.

I read some small print somewhere about there being a limitation on how high they would go.. not really useful info as I forget the ISP and I forget the height limit...
I'm sure the OP will find that helpful !

Not really, a life sentence in a Thai prison would be worse. Although foreigners tend to serve 8 years of a life sentence before being transferred to a prison in their home country.
He should face the death penalty on appearance alone !

And prey tell, Princess... did the servants type your post ? Do you actually have sufficient strength, motivation to participate in horizontal jogging ? Oh, I get it, you just lay there & the servants provide the exertion ? I don't understand why one would choose to live in a third world- developing country if not prepared to "mingle with the natives" Let me guess, you live in Pattaya or Bangkok ?

"I am thinking of writing a letter to the BK Post & The Nation to advise them there are a lot of Expats hurting from the new rules regarding the 800K money in the bank situation, I might also forward it to Immigration." Me thinks you have way too much time on your hands !

I stand corrected. I was responding in error to CuthbertPerkins's falacious post and the 3000 baht is what Mr Angry puppy owner demanded. I apologize.
Now, with regard to Mr Angry puppy killer, do you honestly still think you should give them money?
Apology accepted.
A couple of points. I wasn't then, nor am now angry. If you were referring to said pup, I don't think it had time to be angry. Actually I'm pretty blase' about the whole episode. Secondly, I never thought that I SHOULD give money. As I said in a previous post, compromise is often the least painful alternative.

My last contact, via translation with next door neighbour, is that lady is waiting for her husband to return from working away. I think he works in BKK, not sure. Not sure when he will return, maybe Songkran ? Maybe I'm being too casual about it, but as far as I'm concerned now, they refused my initial offer & the more time passes the more it becomes a non-event. If & when I get further contact, I'll keep you posted.

No, the costs I quoted aren't missing a zero.
Check out Makro NZ lamb prices on minced and 'bone in leg' prices.
My dogs don't have a kennel, they sleep wherever they want both inside and outside the house - so sorry, no kennel available ????.
Even better. I'm happy to just curl up on the mat in front of the telly. After me belly full of lamb. Don't get much better than this.

As you get older you need more light to work effectively. OK my workshop is bigger than yours however I currently have about 700 watts of LED lights and am about to add another 10 X 18W units. I have them on different switches, there will be about 7 by the time I finish.
I have
4 x 100 watt
4 x 50 watt
4 x 2 x 12 watt
and am about to install 10 x 18 watt units about 4 ~ 5 metres up
my ceiling hight goes from about 3.8 to about 5.9
Thanks for that. Wish I had your space.

Hi all. Some help please.
I'll soon be renovating my small workshop. I'd like some advice on the best lighting option. Floor area is about, 5m x 4m. Roof height is pretty high but can hang lights off chain. Workshop is primarily for woodworking. A few years back I would have just installed some fluros. But now there's so many options.
What's your suggestions ?
Thanks..... Mal.

???? I wish I was a regular lottery winner! Unfortunately, I'm just an ordinary person - who spends FAR more on food (I trust) for my dogs than myself!
I'm probably being neurotic about it, but I don't trust Thai meat to not be full of hormones etc. ☹️.
Yes, NZ lamb is a lot more expensive than Thai meat - but minced NZ lamb and 'bone in leg' lamb is the cheapest alternative. IIRC, minced NZ lamb is around 300 bht per kilo, and bone in leg lamb is around 250 bht per kilo.
Again I'd like a bit of reassurance please. Are you sure the 300 & 250 baht amounts aren't missing a zero ? You do say lamb... not mutton or camel. If I provide my own water bowl, blanket & prepared to sleep in your kennel, can I come live with you ?
I trust you realise this is written tongue in cheek.....

The unsolicited 3000 baht offered by the enfeebled OP will get the irresponsible but enabled former puppy owner a nice upgrade at Chatuchak market.
Might I suggest that your avatar has struck the wall a few too many times..... The 3,000 Baht was solicited, requested by the dog's owner. To date I have NOT parted with one satang. I did offer a far lesser amount. Here's an idea.... put the bottle down, take a deep breath & reread the OP. If we were geographically closer I would be very tempted to demonstrate my enfeebleness personally. But, as stated in my opening comment, I feel the desired result has already been attained.

I buy NZ legs of lamb from Makro, and get them to slice it up for my dogs - so they get both meat and bone.
Edit - Trying to find reasonably priced NZ sourced beef with bone, is very difficult, and normally far more expensive.
Let me see if I understand you correctly... You buy NZ lamb & feed it to your dog ??? I guess you're a regular lottery winner !

What if it had been a child that ran out into the road? If he couldn't stop or avoid a dog, he couldn't stop or avoid a child.
Not fit to be in charge of a motor vehicle. Should be stripped of his driving licence.
I assume this is some sort of warped sarcasm ? If not, I'll offer a factual description of the accident. I had just taken off from a small intersection. Both Sois minimal width, about 3 meters. As stated in the OP, I had travelled about 15 meters. The dog came scampering out of a blind driveway. The first I was aware of the dog is when contact was made. I didn't brake, no time. The bike came to a complete stop 1 1/2 meters from where the dog was laying on the road. My home is approx 100 meters from point of impact. Approx 50 meters from impact scene is another intersection, I always slow approaching this intersection as again blind, high fences- walls. Speed was in no way a factor. I'd go so far as to estimate the dog was travelling much faster than I.
I will agree with one point you make. If it were a child & not a dog, the impact would have still occurred.
