  1. Hopefully the Mods will not delete this as it is not a scam, but a real competition run by the Tourist Authority of Thailand.

Scott and Richard need your help to reach their goal of winning the Ultimate Thailand Explorer Competition created by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and donating the 10,000 USD of prize money to the Chiangmai Toy Ride

    www.chiangmaitoyride.com

Scott and Richard from Chiang Mai have a different agenda than the rest of the semi-finalists: they're going to donate any prize money won to children in need through the Chiangmai ToyRide and the nonprofit Give and Live. Scott Jones says it simply, "We have enough. They don't." The grand prize is $10,000. And even if they don't win, they've vowed to raise another $10,000 along the way.

The outcome is out of their hands and into the world's as online voting selects the final teams for five cities in Thailand: Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and Koh Samui. Anyone can view Scott and Richard's one-minute of fun application video (careening down the hill into a lake in a monster Zorb Ball) and help by voting for them NOW and EVERY DAY until November 12 to keep the ball rolling!

Please register and vote daily at:

They have transformed one corner of the TAT competition into a charity cause. Richard Vader says, "Not only are we putting our money where our mouth is, we'll put their money where our heart is!" More information, voting instructions and a PayPal button for tax-exempt donations is online at http://www.thailandmania.com/here-is-how-you-can-help.html

  2. My understanding is that the current low prices are a short time promotion and then it is back to rates as usual. There is no way that they can afford to maintain the course at the current rates and no perhaps no surprise that all the courses decided to have the same promotion at the same time.

Just not the Thai way to reduce prices when times are bad, and in fact the normal practice is quite the opposite. Expect high prices in high season

BTW, Green Valley has night golf now and really cheap until it catches on

  3. Potentially interested in memberships to a number of the local courses. If anyone is leaving the area and wants to sell theirs, please let me know.

I am thinking of selling my membership at Green Valley

25 years to go, family membership - IE husband, wife, 2 dependents under 21

    Sale-able and transferable for 30,000

No more of these left and all you can get now is 5 year individual membership for either 90,000 or 60,000 depending on cost per round.

Mine is the same cost per round as 60,000 for 5 years

So depending on your age you could play for years and resell to golf cheap

I have not yet determined what it is worth, however I am told that a similar membership at Lanna which is a much poorer course sold for 320,000

    Make me an offer

  4. Richco Motorsports had a local shop mount a quality frame mounted square receiver type on both his pickup and Dad's Fortuner. Give him a ring at 081 030 8307

We have used these hitches to tow bikes all over Thailand and no problems at numerous police inspection stations. Another friend tows a race truck all over as well.

  5. As somebody who works in the field of playground maintenance and design I find a lot of the playground equipment in Thailand downright dangerous and poorly designed. Might be useful if you check some of the major European or US playground manufacturers for ideas on playground safety design , eg: Kompan from Denmark .That way u will get an idea of what to look for in locally produced playground equipment .

The Chiangmai Toy Ride is in the process of outfitting 3 schools with playground equipment over the next 3 months. We have visited a local manufacturer of metal equipment, and even an amateur can see areas requiring design improvement. Are you interested in helping the Chiangmai Toy Ride spec some locally made equipment and visiting the manufacturer to point him in the right direction? Your input would be greatly appreciated

  6. Posted in the bike forum as well but since the event is in Chiangmai, here it is again. Hopefully the mods will not chastise me for double posting

The Chiangmai Toy Ride is more than just stuffed toys for kids on Children's Day and has built a new toilet for a small school in Mae Sa valley. There is a dedication ceremony Aug 11, with a snack, some games with the kids, and a toy give away using some of the toys collected at the ride last January.

See our website for more info and pics of the terrible toilet that these kids had to use:

Come and see what you helped to build. We depart the X-Centre in Mae Rim at 8:30 AM and ride 3.5 Km to the school. Any interested riders can do the Samoeng loop after the dedication.

  8. Posted this in the bike forum, but since we are in CM, here it goes again - hopefully the mods will not chastise me.

The Chiangmai ToyRide is more than stuffed toys for kids on Children's Day and earlier this month the Chiangmai ToyRide donated football uniforms to two schools in the Samoeng area. On Saturday, August 1 the two teams will be competing against each other. We will be riding to Samoeng to watch the game, cheer the kids on and take some photos. Please come join in the fun.

We will leave the X-Centre in Mae Rim at 10:00 am Sat and rendezvous near the T-junction in Somoeng at 10:30 where we will be led to the school.

    In addition;

The Chiangmai ToyRide, Playground Plus Program has completed it's first major build; new toilet facilities at the Pa Muang School in Mae Sa Valley.

There will be a dedication ceremony in conjunction with a Mother's Day celebration on August 11. We hope to have a fun day sharing with the kids and community. I will post more details here as soon as they are finalized or watch the website chiangmaitoyride.com

  10. Why do you want a beetle, they are total junk.. unreliable, heavy steering, overheat and no air con! And if you drive one you run the risk of looking like a hippie or a surfer!

As a basis for my Speedster replica project

  11. A bar just off Loi Kroh has a Porsche 356 Speedster replica hanging from the ceiling. It looks gorgeous in red but the European bar owner is very cagey about it. I think whoever builds these is trying to get one through Land Transport and properly registered before promoting them. The fact that it's been hanging there for 2 years without any promo is not a good sign.......

I'm the guy that built the Speedster replica in #1 bar, and you can PM me if interested in one.
