  1. The annual Chiangmai ToyRide is being held Dec 6, 09.

While held during CM Bike Week, this is an independent event organized by the Chiangmai ToyRide, and a worthwhile way to spend the Sunday afternoon

    See the webiste at:

    www.chiangmaitoyride.com

    Date changed to Feb 21

  2. Back to the law in THAILAND

Seemingly one can refuse to blow. What is the penalty for refusing to blow?

Is permission required to take a blood test, and if so how is this obtained if one is incapable of giving permission?

In the end does one have his day in court and able to question the BIB on their knowledge, procedures, calibration, and trail of evidence? Or is one just deemed guilty at the police station with no recourse to justice?

  3. [

Dont see how you can be framed by the BiB, they cant f*kc with the calibration, if you consider holding the instrument up to somebodies lips "training"..... :D ...well then I dont know.... :)

You seem to have very limited knowledge of who the Borkenstein breathalyzer works, and you may wish to read up on it before making broad statements regarding calibration and training.

  4. Sundays BKK Post has an editorial by Voranai Vanijaka article where he says to the effect that the BIB need your permission to submit to a breathalyzer test.

Is this truly the case, and if permission is refused are you deemed guilty be default?

  5. I need high end car interior work done on my new hot rod. I am importing the Aclantara (Ultraleather in the USA) and do not want to take a chance on getting it right the first time.

Who can do high end custom car work?

On the same car, how about a high end audio shop?

  8. That's a fair asking price for a good truck. I'm always amused by the lemmings who think there are no good trucks other than Toyota and Isuzu. Check out the fuel economy and you will see that the Ford gets VERY good economy. As for myself, my last Toyota was a lemon that had a drastic thirst for diesel. That was my last Toyota. The older generation Fords had poor fuel economy (like Toyota) but the new common rail engines are VERY good.

Where can I see comparative fuel consumption numbers?

In particular the 2.5 Ford Vs the 2.5 and 3.0 Toyota

  9. www.ipipes.com is where my company buys its piping stuff.

They list 3" - 8" chrome moly on their website.

Thanks but I am looking for a source in Thailand.

This stuff is common in the Western world but as I say I really do not want to have to import 2 lengths

  10. Can anyone tell me if I am allowed to ship my HArley from the UNited States to Thailand and if so how to go about doing it. I have a 2008 105th addition Classic Softtail with less than 100 miles, ( I work in Iraq) and I will be getting mairred and moving to Thailand and would like to bring my bike, can anyone help. Thanks

The short answer is no. The long answer is no and do not even try

Use the search function re seized bikes and importing bikes/cars

  11. Now that Toyota make a "smart cab" like Ford and Mazda have been doing for years, off I go yesterday with money in hand hot to buy. Well............

No 3.0 diesel auto as reported by Tanah - petrol only and the logic given is that it is a work truck

The 2WD jacked up Prerunner does not have any air bags at all!! - this is a deemed necessary option for us

No other jacked up 2WD model so you must buy 4WD at 90K more to get the higher suspension.

    4WD has 15/255 x 7 inch rims and 2WD has 16/215 x 6 inch rims.

I do not need 4WD and balking about the 90K more just for the ride height.

Tell me more about the lift kit and where to get it in CM

  12. I am going to buy a new pickup and Toyota is at the top of the list.

Anyone know if there is a new Vigo in the works as I will be pi$$ed if I buy a sunset model

I read in the BKK Post yesterday that GM is planning a new truck

  13. Selling my old but good Mitisu pickup just because I want a new one. 140,000 Km on the clock, and I think it is correct as it does not use oil, but TIT.

In the past 30,000 Km it has had new tyres, rear brakes, radiator, clutch fan, all hoses and belts, battery, glow plugs, brake master cylinder, both clutch cylinders, and a pitman arm. Carryboy canopy included

A good reliable but ugly truck for 135,000 B located in Chiangmai

  14. Mazda offered me 0% on a pickup yesterday, however I will hold out for a Toyota

Financing is a convoluted path here and the 3.85% Toyota quoted me is PER MONTH on the total loan amount, IE if you borrow 500K you are paying interest on the entire 500K over the entire term, and there is no advantage to a balloon payment. Sort of like dealing with a loan shark

At this rate it is cheaper to pay with Visa !!

The bank offered me a floating monthly rate of 2.6% annual on the outstanding balance. Note that the rate floats and is revised every month. Not such a bad deal but the hook is that they want a term deposit in an equal amount to the loan on which they will pay 0.85% The 2.6% is therefore decremented by the TD rate, less income tax at 15%.

Loan payments are "new money" and do not come out of the TD. TD is for the entire amount of the loan and cannot be drawn down in lock step with the loan.

They already have a TD to guarantee my Visa so I am not too keen on giving them another TD for a truck. The question remains if that if I can give them a TD why not just pay cash for the truck

I am thinking of paying the 1.5% fee and buying the truck with my Visa card to get the airmiles. 7500B incremental cost for Visa and 20,000 miles or 20% of a business class ticket to Canada. Pay the Visa bill in full when it arrives next month

  15. In AISI speak, 41 stands for chrome moly and 30 is the carbon content at 0.30%. this is a high tensile steel with a yield typically around 90,000 psi and easy to weld.

Run of the mill stuff in the Western world, and you would think it would be easy enough to find but as I say all I get is the typical mai mee. I have spoken to a couple of local motorcycle builders and contrary to what one would expect, all they use is local steel tube.

  16. I have asked this in the bike forum to no avail so here it goes again to TV members at large

Where can I buy AISI 4130 chrome moly tube? All I get is mai mee, or a stunned look with no help whatsoever on whom to contact.

I have discovered that the term 4130 throws them off and the local term is simply chrome moly, but alas, the usual mai mee.

I just need 2 x 6m lengths of 1" x .120 wall and any help would be greatly appreciated
