  1. Okay. Thanks. I have no idea why you didn't say imposter when you meant imposter, or how you could misunderstand the very large headline and the opening sentence of the report which stated a landlord and man.
  2. I used to get my multi-entry marriage visa in Melbourne each year when I was there on business. A piece of cake until the Aussie consular - a dentist by profession - retired. Then a Thai replaced him and getting the visa became a challenge. First, he demanded a letter from my wife confirming we were married, to be faxed to the consulate. He gave me the phone number, but it was in Sydney, not Melbourne. I made the mistake of pointing out his error, and also the obvious fact that the letter could be written by anybody (the usual ability for Thais to only think of stage one and not beyond, hence the endless U-turns we see with government ministers and officials). A cardinal sin had been committed as I'd made him lose face, so he threatened to not process my application and to send me to Canberra to apply. Then, another year, my photos 'weren't correct'. No reason given. By a wonderful and lucky coincidence, just across the road was a Thai-run pharmacy where I could get my photos re-done. I went there, and there was a long queue of others doing the same. I decided after that that Savannakhet was a better option.
  3. You have obviously missed the several reports of the state that some Thais - always women, interestingly - have left their rented rooms in, full of filth, every centimeter covered in rubbish and rotting food.. At least this person left the room clean, I suppose.
  4. What woman are you talking about? A YOUNG THAI man who had rented his house ..... And what does 'I might have a ringer' mean? Very strange post.
  5. As it's a new bridge, maybe they can put up a memorial plaque along the lines of 'In Memory of Theerawat, the first speeding motorcyclist to lose his life on this bridge'.
  6. Maybe they don't realise that they speed bumps are there to prevent people from speeding. You know, having common sense.
  7. I wonder what they'll do when the cashless society has fully arrived. How many years before Thailand catches up then to the fact that people no longer carry cash. My wife went to China a couple of years ago and even then almost no-one used cash for anything. And in Thailand you can sometimes even pay for your noodles in the market with a QR code.
  8. I'm not sure what the aggrieved person did about the fake profiles, but they are common and once reported to FB they are quickly removed. It only takes a few minutes at most to do it. I've been cloned, my wife too, and several people I know. I have no idea what the ones who do this get out of it as most are obvious fakes. I was once even invited to 'friend' myself. Those who solicit funds, as the link says, are more serious but, again, easily spotted.
  9. FB has nearly 3 billion users. How do you suggest they monitor each one? Or do you think that 2.95 billion users should be denied the platform because of a few million people who misuse it? BTW, the problems on FB don't originate with FB, they originate from the people who corrupt it. As humans manage to corrupt so much else. People send scam emails. Should we shut down email too? What's the difference? Twitter/X as well, as a tiny percentage of users send hate mail and death threats. It's people at fault, not the platforms they use.
  10. Give it up. You're only making yourself look more stupid. No-one has suggested that only drunken Thais fight.
  11. No-one wrote that. You made it up. No idea why. This is a report of two Thais fighting, in Thailand, on a Thai forum. What connection have you imagined to bring foreigners into the comments?
  12. In the UK it takes two or three days. It also doesn't take three months to form a government after an election. Although why Thailand even has elections is beyond me. It really doesn't matter who the people vote for. They get the government the elite want them to have.
  13. I was responding to a comment about Thaksin which mentioned the airport - and said that he pretended to open the airport even though it was closed again after his one flight of the day/weeks/months took off. And that he complained about signs there being in English. I'm happy that you like the airport. Now fly to Singapore and compare that airport to Swampy.
  14. I have no idea what that has to do with Thaksin. And it was the #2 airport, Gatwick. Moscow is now experiencing the same thing. I suppose they're an alternative to blame for flight delays, instead of the wrong kind of leaves on the runway
  15. Yes, he might be mixing with the wrong kind of people. But it reminds me of an experience I read about, when a foreigner took his new girlfriend for a meal and several of her friends showed up as well for what they thought would be a free feed. They duly ordered everything on the menu, and he left the table saying he was going to the toilet and instead left the restaurant and the girls to pay for it all themselves. Hero.
  16. Regrettably, the confrontation escalated, and his father resorted to wielding a knife against him. In an attempt to defend himself, Anan, too, grabbed a knife, inadvertently causing a fatal injury to his father. But but but. Every one of us before we ever came to Thailand read how close Thai families are. I suppose they meant all except the ones who aren't, I suppose.
  17. One of his ministers introduced the limited hours to sell alcohol, including the 2-5pm ban. The same minister also wanted to close the bars at 10 and nightclubs at midnight.
  18. All true. And, when he officially 'opened' it on the date he had declared would be the opening day and to save face, his was the only flight as the airport wasn't ready. His flight to 'prove' the airport was open flew him to Don Muang. Possibly it was back to Swampy but I think not. When he toured the airport prior to 'opening' he asked why there were so many signs in English. There were also not enough toilets and those that were there were hidden out of sight by King Power shops. And because, as you say, it was built to a 30 year old plan, it wasn't fit for purpose and they quickly had to reopen the airport they thought they didn't need anymore and persuade (read bribe) Air Asia to move all their facilities back to DM. Then there were the cracked runways...... But but but Swampy had the highest control tower in Asia. Even though one day the electrics in it went down and nothing could land or take off.
  19. Ask a bar girl. I'm serious. That's roughly what they pay, close to transport and malls.
  20. When I was in my late 20s I found myself living in one room in a large house in London. Actually it was fine, with a partition built to house a kitchen, and I had a gas fire which was good to keep on during cold winter nights. It was cosy. But also living in the house was a man who was probably in his late 60s/early 70s, and I found that rather sad. I vowed then never to be in his situation, old and alone and living in one room. He was my inspiration to better my situation, and I did. Very much so..
  21. The meaning of life is to compile a wardrobe of clothes that never need ironing.
  22. https://www.facebook.com/rollsroycemotorcars/ Totally untrustworthy company, I'm sure... Right? And they have a website too, which you conveniently ignored. So what is your point? I referred to businesses that have no website, only a FB presence, which to me ranks as unprofessional. Perhaps you were not able to understand what I wrote. https://www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com/en_GB/home.html
