  1. I was in such a van not so long ago, after that accident. Used gas. At least we were asked to exit the van as it was refilled at a filling station. Then he drove three metres behind the vehicle in front at 130 kph. I've not taken a van since and won't in the future. It's like playing Russian Roulette with your life.
  2. I find it funny that you need to be married to get a marriage extension, but you don't have to be retired to get a retirement extension. It's a weird country.
  3. Utter nonsense. You speak for everyone, do you? You certainly don't speak for me.
  4. True. But many of us don't like bring taken for a fool and being cheated. It's the principal. Out of fashion now, I know.
  5. Since Covid I believe it now only picks up at International. At least, it did in October and December when I used it. I only use it to the BTS/MRT and both A1 and A2 will take me there and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes. Brilliant service.
  6. Only most (some). As usual in Thailand there is no guarantee as they either don't know the rules and/or just want to be as unhelpful as possible and will tell you to use the ATM.
  7. And that is why it won't. Same as there will never be the official casinos they sometimes speak of opening. Vested interests take steps to maintain the status quo.
  8. I'm involved in the tennis world, and there is tension in the locker rooms too. Only a matter of time.
  9. Shame that... Not really. Spending years in a Thai prison means he has to suffer for what he did. EDIT: By coincidence, the post before mine says almost exactly the same.
  10. One of Thailand's most successful exports, with Thai girls working in 'public relations' in every large European city while also serving to encourage people to visit LOS to enjoy the company of those in similar employment.
  11. There isn't any more to the story. The full story is already there without the link. And, as others above have pointed out, that story tells us very little.
  12. It's just another English word that Thais use without understanding what it means. You know, like blocks of cheap apartment rooms they call 'mansions', And 'mafia', mostly in relation to small-time crooks.
  13. I see this countless times. Completely empty road behind us, but they pull out and make us slow or take evasive action. It is utterly impossible to understand the mentality of these people. It's like living with an alien race. The only explanation is that act as if they are the only vehicle on the road, something we've all seen hundreds of times. They have no awareness of others at all. Same as when they're walking, actually.
  14. They have the mentality of children in so many ways. They only live in the moment. It really is quite extraordinary how they never mature mentally. Not all, of course, before the flamers dive to their keyboard.
  15. Witnesses said the pickup truck (insert) driver had lost control at high speed before the crash. There. Fixed it.
  16. There is no sign of oil prices dropping. Quite the opposite in fact, with the Saudis now limiting supply as they say it's too cheap.
  17. I personally know of several, including one who had his credit card cloned, which he used once in one store. Another who was in a taxi that was stopped by another taxi and his driver threatened with a machete for picking my friend up 'at the wrong place'. Another who got very tired of taxi drivers in Bangkok refusing to use their meter. Another friend, in a wheelchair, said he would never return, for the very obvious reason that he found, on his world travels, Bangkok to be the most difficult city he had found anywhere for people such as him. Another friend came and had no problems, but it was been there, done that, and nothing great to return to.
  18. I was asking for your source on the number who return. You said less than the number of fingers on your hand, which was a brainless response. As was your nonsense I've quoted now. As for my 'mate', he reported in response to an article posted on this site. It's his job.
  19. I'm sure that most people who visit a supposed safe country don't go to government websites to read up on that country's laws. They see a photo of a beach (which might not actually be a beach in Thailand because TAT has been known to make that error), and they book a flight. They don't expect to have to prove while out for a drink that they have a right to be in the country. Perhaps you can name any country where police tour the bars to check if you have a right to be in that country. I'm not aware of any. In other countries the police deal with real crime, not intimidating people who have spent a lot of money to get there ,and demanding they prove their innocence.
  20. I asked how many return. You appear to claim that you know the answer (less than five). What is your source, please?
  21. Foreigners, two-week tourists in particular, know they must carry ID with them at all times? That might come as a huge surprise to all those who arrive from countries where there is no such demand. You know, those who come from countries where men in uniform don't intimidate those out for a drink, demanding they prove they are innocent and have a right to be in the country. You think that's normal? I would love to know the number who come here and say 'never again'.
  22. And what happened about the safety checks after the latest night club fire? And what happened to the owner and those he persuaded to look the other way? But no - harassing and seeking out foreigners with no grounds whatsoever (number found breaking the law: zero) is the priority.
  23. I can appreciate that you might be frustrated that you are unable to respond in an intelligent and constructive manner. Some do have that handicap, and it makes me wonder why they post at all.
