  1. This is a case, and not the first, of just because we have the ability to do or produce something we don't have to. It's fascinating though to watch the human race self-destruct. Like everything else, what can be a force for good will surely be corrupted and be used for the opposite. It's what humans do. It's in our DNA.
  2. Don't worry. They'll get around to the important stuff. This will run for years, certainly long enough to prevent him from trying to hijack the next election as he tried to the last.
  3. Can you be specific? You know, like you asked others to be in your rant. Thanks.
  4. When I was a kid I asked my mother what is beyond space, and she told me to not ask stupid questions. So I'm still wondering. It must end somewhere, even if we can't imagine how distant that somewhere is.
  5. There are nearly 75,000 images. That's a lot of Thai girls ready and willing to expose themselves for cash (which they never received). Different culture, I guess, where kids see nothing wrong in that. After all, there's a new iPhone in the store......
  6. One time I arrived at my local office and when I spoke to such a young receptionist in English he just giggled. Very professional, having a receptionist who doesn't understand English working in a position where most of the people he needs to deal with know little or no Thai. And like who on another occasion there was a female IO wearing a rabbit ear headset.
  7. They just can't get enough of Thai culture. Strange, isn't it. Problems in Phuket and in countless other aspects of Thailand are well documented, but still people teem in in their millions. Bizarre, but also why the Thais don't give a rat's fart.
  8. Wow! Such decadent behaviour. I am sure that Thai authorities have no idea that the majority of people who come to the country arrive from countries where there are venues which are open until dawn. And those visitors do not want to spend money coming to a country where they can have less fun than if they stayed at home. Why would they? This is just another example of Thais having no clue what happens outside its borders. They can't see their hand in front of their face - and don't want to.
  9. Thailand does many things back to front. Police committing crimes is only one of them. But Thailand is not alone in that, of course. My native UK had had one policeman jailed for murder and now another is on trial for committing many assaults with impunity for 18 years.
  10. It was unclear how she had originally entered Thailand. Maybe if the reporter did their job and made phone calls, asked questions - you know, did their job - it might be clear.
  11. Perhaps they have.......... Probably they haven't, because if they had it would be all over the news with a dozen cops posing for the press.
  12. I wonder why they picked on these two on this one day. E-cigs are openly on sale everywhere and used far, far more than regular cigarettes at Thai nightlife venues. If they were serious they could arrest many dozens of Thais any night of the week in Pattaya or Bangkok, and no doubt elsewhere.
  13. It's long been the fashion, but usually unintentional and due to an inability to drive. It's quite unusual for someone to do it on purpose, at least in Thailand. It happens elsewhere, such as Berlin or Stockholm and other places by wannabe terrorists, who believe that mowing down people who are out for a stroll will somehow further the cause of their religion of peace.
  14. Does anyone know where to source blue light bulbs in the Kalasin area? Global House used to have them but no longer, according to my wife who visited there last week. I don't want the useless 5w type, more like 25 and up.
  15. You missed this part: Most cases are drunk driving, following by overstaying, illegally entering the kingdom, and working without a work permit. At least these trouble-making foreigners left the proper criminal activity to Thais, such as murder, corruption and extortion.
  16. Was the meter still running while you went around in circles? It was. We'd agreed he should use the meter after he initially refused to do so, but he drove in circles to make the fare what he had originally quoted. While he was doing that I made the pointless call. Then I gave up and when we got off the expressway I got out and found another taxi.
  17. And there you have why Thailand is still such a primitive society and backward in so many ways. Deny deny deny there's a problem, or blame someone, anyone, else. For everything. It's the way little children behave, until they grow up and take responsibility.
  18. Get back to us if you ever hear of anyone being reprimanded over bad service or illegal practise.
  19. Risky, messing with anyone in a uniform. All they have to do is say 'extension denied' and good luck appealing it.
  20. You missed that in Thailand no-one would think there was anything wrong with that.
  21. Yes. But Thailand has different driving 'skills' and they are too stupid to realise that what this driver was doing is dangerous. It simply would never occur to them.
  22. Another quality tourist. Thailand attracts them like bees to honey. I can't imagine that Singapore, for example, has to deal with such human trash.
  23. This, of course, is an airport that was closed as surplus to requirements when the other airport was opened and then quickly had to be opened up again after the new airport was found to be hopelessly inadequate. Forward planning, Thai-style. Can we hope that the new facilities can be utilised entirely for Chinese arrivals/departures, leaving the rest of us in peace.
