  1. Last time mine took 10 minutes, making sure all was in order before sending everything off to the regional office in Khon Kaen. When I was there recently about wanting a 60-day extension (complicated, which I wrote of in another thread) he suggested I get a retirement extension. I said I wasn't retired and he said I didn't need to be retired to get a retirement extension. Funny, and very Thai I suppose ????
  2. There was no eyewitness to the accident, stated Pattaya police. Err, what about the passenger who only suffered minor injury? I suppose asking her what happened never occurred to them.
  3. I've been thinking about that. But tying up an extra 400,000 for the sake of getting a few photocopies together once a year? Nah.
  4. So you approve of people, including Triad gangs, obtaining permission to stay on false pretenses?
  5. I'm guessing they ignored your message ☹️
  6. No matter if Bangkok has a few tall shiny glass buildings, Thailand is a banana republic and will still be a banana republic for generations to come. Corrupt from top to bottom in every corner of society.
  7. No he/she wasn't. That's the problem. The driver did get around the barrier and onto the track. Just another driver who believes a red light doesn't apply to them.
  8. I've had this several times from them. As usual in Thailand, non-delivery is someone else's fault, never theirs. I'm lucky in that these days I usually receive things by Flash, who even give the driver's name and phone number. Proper customer service. Even if they do sometimes show up in a rusty old pickup.
  9. Because he used unreasonable force, perhaps. Beating someone so badly that they later die is way over the top. But then, Thais rarely do anything in moderation, especially when it comes to violence. Kicking someone in the head when they're down and helpless is simply caveman savagery, but very common in the Land of Smiles.
  10. Who they are doesn't answer the point I made, which is how they would catch anyone having sex.
  11. Same way as Saudi does. Which is? I'm curious.
  12. So it's not only Thailand that passes unenforceable laws. How will the authorities catch unmarried people having sex? Hide in the wardrobe? Pathetic.
  13. It is by no means unusual for people from some European countries to have a beer at breakfast time. I've often seen it at German train stations when travelling, for example. And in London there are pubs open in the City for those on their way to the office. Not my thing, but ......
  14. Ask them why. I transfer from a UK bank and the longest it has ever taken in four or five years is two days. Most months the money is there even before I get their email saying it's on its way.
  15. This happens sometimes and no doubt there are reasons for the occasional delays that are beyond our understanding. It isn't the norm, and I got my money in seconds a week ago. What I've given them on feedback is that they need to change their wording when they state that the payment will take seconds, and then after they have your money you get the delay highlighted by the OP. What they should say is expected to take seconds.
  16. How ?? Ensuring safety how ? And from what, exactly? I don't condone breaking the law, even though that is the norm in Thailand, but have any of those caught on overstay been a threat to public safety?
  17. Exactly right. And put them in a uniform, not just police, and it gives them the perfect tool to bully and belittle others as their revenge. Pathetic.
  18. I'll be very interested in what they have to say. But can we find out what tax is slammed on it as a punishment for not being Thai?
  19. Thanks. But depends on the branch. My local one in Kalasin sells no alcohol at all as it's about 200 metres from a uni. Ironically, the 7-11 directly opposite the uni does sell alcohol. Someone I know has offered to supply me from Pattaya Makro if I can't find any myself.
  20. I wrote: Yet almost everyone on a motorcycle wears a mask since Covid. I guess before Covid there was no dust or insects, otherwise they'd have worn masks then as well.
  21. I'm very aware of the fires that are set and the authorities somehow can't find the source of. But what about the other 99% of the country. The other 90% if we discard the polluting towns and cities. I live in Kalasin Province, out in the countryside, good air. Yet almost everyone on a motorcycle wears a mask since Covid. No helmet of course. So, most of the time, it has nothing to to do with pollution.
  22. Then why didn't they wear them before Covid? And don't say they did, because they didn't.
  23. Great! Haven't read such an original comment for a few weeks.
  24. I understand the pollution argument, but that really only applies in the big towns and cities. Thais wear a mask even in the deep countryside where the air is fine. You may apply common sense but, as we all know, that is absent here in the locals. Like wearing a mask but no helmet on a motorcycle.
