PEA advises on cost-effective air conditioners amid Thai heat

This borders (no pun intended) on state terrorism, doesn't it? As I've said before, it's not if but when countries are brought to their knees by a terrorist state or organisation cutting essential services. Imagine finding one day that we have no electricity, for example. And it's no good governments saying there are safeguards. We know services can collapse even without the aid of terrorism. 'Your data is safe with us' is the biggest lie of modern times.

PEA advises on cost-effective air conditioners amid Thai heat

Shouldn't they have offered this information at the start of the hot season rather than a short time before it ends? -
Thai woman spills beans on corrupt cop’s love-linked traffic fines

RTP - Thailand's largest criminal organisation with thousands of members on the payroll. And that isn't me talking. That came - not in those exact words - from a UN report some years ago. -
Why is this farce still in the news. No-one, no-one at all, believes that Thaksin was so sick that he had to spend months in hospital. And he isn't the first. A politician lower down the ladder than ex-PM had exactly the same treatment several years ago. One day in jail and off to a hospital suite. Perfectly normal in Third World countries.

Bangkok sizzles at 40°C, heatwave scorches Thailand at 43°C
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Same for me, though up country. My fridge/freezer cannot keep up, my bedroom A/C is struggling, don't need electricity for the electric shower, water comes out hot. My 2 cats are near dead, the dog isn't much better, my electric has gone up by about 60%, via the f/f and bedroom A/C and fans, and folk come on here saying it is no different to any other year.....(tools).......🤔 I too am up country (I moved from Bangkok about 10 years ago but my name on here remains). No probs with my fridge/freezers, but the kitchen won't go below 32 with the air set to 22, and the bedroom is the same if I want a siesta. Night is okay, down to 28, which is doable. Both new converter systems. I have six dogs who follow wherever the air is on (we have a large and 15+ years old unit in the largest room of the house (could probably hold 60 people) that just about manages, and four sizeable geckos that live above the ceiling like to come through a gap and enjoy the cooler air in that room too. As for the bill, mine can be as low as 1500 in the winter to around 4000 at this time of year. Despite having the air on more this year, the bill has stayed the same because of the two new units. No electric needed for the shower, of course. -
Bangkok sizzles at 40°C, heatwave scorches Thailand at 43°C

Yea! My 30-day planner shows the temperature plunging to 34 from the end of the first week of May, with rain forecast from then onwards. As it should be, of course, at least in Kalasin Province. I'm sure it's only an estimate rather than an actual forecast and it could change.... -

I've been here for some27 years and I've never known it to be so hot for such a long period. In my area it's been a month of 38-40, and the forecast I have is at least another 10 days of the same. -
Chicken factory extortion scandal rocks Thai police force
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
Really? As if anyone, anyone at all, was surprised. Such a wonderful culture. I doubt that a single person in the country trusts the police in anything, and that lack of trust undermines the whole of society. Except those who are at the table claiming their share. -
Horrific accident claims 4 lives, injures 6

You are always at risk whenever you are on the roads in Thailand. Just today, we had to come to a complete halt to avoid a car that was hurtling towards us on our side of the road as he was attempting to overtake about a dozen vehicles in one go. Me First, get out on my way. -
I am by no means an expert on this, but if your connection is being re-routed several times to hide your location then I would expect to see a drop in speed when using a VPN. That has always been the case, from what I've read. But this article explains some of the current situation. What caused the damage to SEA-ME-WE 5? | Capacity Media

Or that he had upset the 'mafia' figures he was cracking down on and they shot at his car as a warning. Standard procedure.

PM Explores Hosting Formula One Race in Bangkok

They came up with this idea several years ago, and it died a natural death. Or at least lay dormant until the next fantasist came along. -
PM Explores Hosting Formula One Race in Bangkok

Close. Thailand has already stated they want to send a rocket to the moon. Probably to store all the immigration forms as they've run out of space (pun) in Thailand. -
Thailand sweats under intense heat wave; coral bleaching detected
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The key is humidity. 45 degrees in the desert, you don't even sweat. 45 degrees in the tropics and you're dripping. Desert heat is great. I've been out in over 40 degrees in Australia with a jacket on. Would I do that in Thailand? No way. -
Thailand sweats under intense heat wave; coral bleaching detected
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I took these screenshots for my area yesterday (Monday). Today, a day later, it's telling of 42 degrees on day 10. I've spent time on the Arctic Circle and lived in the UK, and given a choice I'd place Thai heat as the worst to deal with. Easier to warm up than cool down. -
Thai woman claiming Steven Gerrard her father, arrested
Bangkok Barry replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Desperate for what? She's a drug addict and mentally unstable and should be in a secure hospital, if such a thing even exists in Thailand. I'd guess not, judging by the number of reports we read about mentally unstable people causing havoc. One such threw a large lump of wood at the car my wife was driving, causing damage. Another couple regularly walk past the house muttering to themselves - and we live in the sparsely populated countryside. I can't imagine what city streets must be like. -
Embattled deputy police chief claims PM has abused authority
Bangkok Barry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The image he cultivated was actually dealing with crime instead of sweeping things under the carpet. Now those whose feathers he ruffled, either his victims or those he embarrassed by actually doing his job while they didn't, are trying to pull that carpet from under him.
