  2. That's because you are factoring in legacy costs. New technologies about producing storing transporting and accessing Hydrogen are developed every day. Then you have economies of scale, much like battery prices are coming down because of it,. Then you have the abundance of Hydrogen as opposed to some of the mineral necessary for batteries, I remember reading some place that GM is abandoning it's focus on BEV and is pivoting it's focus on Hydrogen , There is a reason why two of the top 3 car manufactures (GM and Toyota) are betting on Hydrogen. I think they know a bit about the car business. And let's not downplay the weight problem. It is a problem on personal vehicles as it requires energy to accelerate and decelerate a body , Sure some is recovered through regenerative braking but from what studies I have read it is between 60-70%. At best a 30% loss is significant IMO. Remember FCEVs use regenerative braking also. But that's for personal vehicles. We still have other transportation modes, How about Airplanes? weight is a significant factor in those, and how about trucks and payload? Over the road trucks have an 80,000 lb gross weight, So are we going to have two economies? one for personal vehicles and one for other weight sensitive modes of transportation ? IMO (and I have been wrong in the past so why cant I be wrong now) BEVs are a stop gap solution because some of the electrical grid infustracture is already in place, until and if, the Hydrogen economy gets going. And from a geopolitical point of view. The Chinese right now own the BEV industry, how about a check , and perhaps checkmate by pivoting to an already supperior technology? Think about that. I am sure if an idiot like me has thought of it, you can bet some of the smart players in DC , Tokyo and Berlin have thought about it.
  3. Don't tell me, I don't even have an EV yet, tell them. I am not opposed to EVs I am sure there is an EV in my future, If I had not bought a new car a couple of years ago , and would take a finical bath if I trade it in , I would buy one now. I still might I am tempted, but I think if I wait a couple of years not only would I get out of my current vehicle in better shape, but I might get a better EV, for less money I am aware of the positives, and they far outweigh the negatives, But I am not blind either. It does not take a genius to observe that the Thai electrical grid (and that of most countries) , but in this instance te Thai electrical grid, can barely service current domestic demand. At this time I think 8% of the vehicles are battery electric vehicles (BEVs) , Imagine if that percentage increases at a magnitude of 10? At the very least it will be a challenge and reasonable people should start thinking about it. Personally if I purchased an EV I would invest in a couple of solar cells , but not everyone lives at a private residence. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Personally I think the feature is in Fuel Cell Electrical Vehicles (FCEV) They make better sense from a user point of view ,and an engineering one. Batteries might be more efficient than fuel cells but they weigh a lot more, and most of the efficiency is lost in moving that weight around, but you have the issue of production and infustracture of hydrogen.. Neither technology is standing still, there are advancements on a daily basis so who knows.
  4. What would had made real news would had been if a Thai national were arrested for overstay. 🤣
  5. That also makes no sense. I post pictures on social media all the time , I never made the news. Do you make the news when you post? This is simply a red meat for the dogs issue. Clickbait for the news outlet, poster participation for Asean now forum. Who ever lost money catering to voyeurism? I don't blame them, but I do blame you guys because without you there would be no market.
  6. I have read that in some countries EV charging at home has to be registered to regulate the number of home charging in a particular sub station of the Grid. With the state of the electric grid in Thailand I can see how such wide adoption of EV's charging at home could become a problem. IMO most people would want to plug in and start charging as soon as they get home from work which would place an additional load to peak electric consumption time .
  7. The one whose people ask such questions
  8. It should not be. It's their business, it work for them, and I cant think of any way it inconvenience any of us.It is not news it is voyeurism.
  9. I would disagree with that. Yes indeed the US had their own land based nuclear missiles parked near the USSR , and as such the Russians had every moral right to have their own near the USA, but several things came into play. One is cultura American exceptionalism , that made them politically impossible to allow, another the Monroe Doctrine, and third such proximity would not give the Americans much reaction time, which really was not a issue since I am sure the Russians had nuclear subs parked at the east and west coast. . The other difference was that the Russians were not willing to bring nuclear war to the world . where the US was., or at least bluffed that it was . In addition as I said earlier the Russians had the Golf-class submarines . These submarines were each equipped with three Nuclear ballistic missiles with a range of 1500 km. Stationary based weapons though logistically preferable, were not strategically nessacery for a deterrent. How many of those Golf-class subs would you guess were parked of the east and west coast? Also a thing to consider was that the landmass of the USSR was 2.5 larger than the USA's so Nuclear weapons at their border had to travel twice the distance to reach certain points in the USSR which you can bet the soviets took into consideration when deciding where to place their Nuclear weapon bases, So Nuclear weapons near the USS were not as important as Nuclear weapons near the USA IMO. This of course is a very cursory analysis with many other components coming into play such as nuclear capable strategic bombers, etc. The point being that Cuba was not as strategically important to the USSR , as displayed by the fact that it did not really change the balance of power as far as the Nuclear deterrent was concerned,
  10. First let's just say that what happens under the sink cabinet , stays under the sink cabinet, anyone looks there and comments on the angle of your pipes, just smack em on the side of the face, and when he says "Why did you do that" ? Tell him because your brain is not on straight ,and I was trying to knock it back in place, Did it work? How does the pipe look now? But as Vocal neal , being vocal about your predicament said. PVC is flexible , Heat it up a bit and it will bend to your will. Just like your friend did after you smack him upside the face. 😅 And now for your entertainment pleasure , a brief musical interlude of. Leo Sayer singing You know I cant dance
  11. I think I understand what you are saying, except the ethnicity part, A bit difficult for immigrants to be of the same ethnicity as the host country. People have a culture, it is a system that has developed over years , it is a system that works for them under their particular circumstances and they don't want it changing. They know what they have now ,and are afraid that change will be for the worst . You know? "the devil we know" People talk about Racism, but I think it is not so much racism as it is ethnocentrism and the desire of one to want to defend and maintain his/hers culture. What they don't understand is that culture is always evolving and changing, and that they also are product's of past migrations. The unfortunate situation is that you guys are a bunch of slackers!! LOL, You only have I.5 children and you need 2.1 to simply maintain a stable population. And most of your .5s are here in Thailand! I know I have talked to them and believe me .5 is being extremally generous 🤣 Never mind grow your population. So unless you all get on the ball and start humping with more enthusiasm , I am afraid your only solution would be immigrants. And unfortunately . by definition they will be of a different culture, because all the similar cultures are also slackers and have their own declining population issues.
  12. You men as opposed to ethical capitalism 😅 Oh , the problem was that Russia wanted to become an ally too quick. I understand These things take time. I mean Putin did not even know the secret handshake yet. First we chock him and then we can make him a junior member. I agree it was not a great option for Rusia, but it was the only option. But there lays the crux of the problem , The US is not interested in cooperating the US is interested in dominating, and China will not be dominated. They remember "the hundred years of humiliation" the wes bestowed upon them. No way they will allow the US to have bases 100 miles from their coast. If texas was to decide and be independents, and entered into an alliance with China , how would you think the US would react? What happened to Cuba when they avowed USSR to have bases there? And Cuba was an independents country. Or do you subscribe to the concept of American exceptionalism? The Monroe doctrine is only good for goose and certainly not good for the gander.
  13. Oh you want ne to provide for you the budget resolution for every year? What year do you want me to start with? or do you want me to go all the way back to 1948 while we are at it , would you like me to come over and tie your shoelaces?
  14. researched , easy to do. Google is your friend "House approves nearly $14.5 billion in military aid for Israel. Biden vows to veto the GOP approach " https://apnews.com/article/house-israel-aid-ukraine-republicans-biden-gaza-b7bfe528b12ac5954cfd5c034f11320d
  15. Which is why the US stop sending billions per year to poor Israel ,
  16. I didn't even read the article. What's the point? Is there anything trump does not lash out at?
  17. The problem for the US is China as we transition from a unipolar world order to a multipolar one. And The US should be concentrating on China rather that getting distracted with misadventures in Ukraine and the middle east. IMO and the opinion of many others who know a lot more about this that I will ever know, baiting Russia in a war with Ukraine was a mistake of monumental proportion. Russia instead of being a US ally in the coming conflict with China , has become an enemy and an ally to China. In addition the seizure of Russian assets was a wake up call to other countries, and a fear that unless they play ball their assets are in jeopardy, and galvanised the nessacery support for the creation of the BRICS alliance that soon will have to change it's name to include almost forty other countries. And is threatening the de-dollarization of the world economy.
  18. Unfortunately, as one in it I have noticed. The middle class is IMO the strength of all societies and where all agents of innovation and change have come out of.
  19. Ohh and beets! they should be made to eat beets also, and perhaps salted sardines, but I think that's going too far.
  20. That might be a blessing in disguise . Who really needs the amount of wealth the top 3% have? other than for power over others. A a guaranteed universal income would increase productivity since those trapped in mundane brain numbing jobs would be able to apply themselves to subjects they are really interested in and thus add to the productivity that AI provides. And who is to say that those on universal income who are successful in the pursuit of their interests could not get wealthy from it. I am just being spiteful and would like to see the little <Deleted> eat their Brussel sprouts and broccoli. 😂
  21. Yea same here , on having to do some jobs that I only did for the money. But what annoys me is that I worked hard to get to where I am and retire, and now they all going to retire? Grrrrrrrrr. I think at the very least , as kids, they should be made to eat Brussel sprouts and blue cheese!!
