I understand what you’re saying but we pay a service charge for a non existent service, security staff on the site have been cut in recent years just to save money , even though they’re only paid a pittance and may as well not be there to be honest as anyone can enter the site at anytime. Frustrating as there’s not a lot we can do.
I understand what you are saying and sympathize with your frustration .
I am just trying to provide a realistic view from the outside,, and hat is rather what we would want it to be,
Perhaps the theft in your property, and other that might have happened could help to galvanise your HOA to take steps towards the management. IMO you might have more success than going at it alone.
If others realised that the could be next it might be incentive to join forces,
Perhaps a newsletter delivered to each dore, because many might not be aware of what is happening
,Good luck

Any chance you ever read "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn?" There was a chapter that captures this thought PERFECTLY called "The Royal Nonesuch." I am SURE no MAGA supporter ever did, it's got big words and no pictures.
I have not since I was a kid, and I should re-read it, I have re-read many of the classics that I had read as a kid, and I have gotten much more about them. Much of what they said went over my head.
One that I r-read was Gulliver's Travels, and it was a lot different than what I knew from movies and such, I was amazed about the depth of cultural commentary in it. ( Yahoos and the realization that his Society was no different))
I am sure the same is true with " "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn?" that I am sure went over my head as a kid.
In fact now that you mention it, as soon as I finish what I am reading , it might be my next book.
Thank you!

Frankly I don't really care. American politics is big business. Neither of them actually represent the people. They are just front men, puppets for cabals of the wealthy like all American presidents. Voted in by a wierd system that no one understands
Most of what you say might be true, but the "wierd system that no one understands "is not true
most Americans with a bit of education understand it just fine"
The Electoral college was designed' and still to some degree plays that role" to give all the states regardless of population a seat at the ellections table.
No small state would had joined the Union otherwise.
They had just fought a war to liberate themselves from "Taxation without representation" and no small State would have joined a Union where they will pay tax but have little say in the presidential election?
The US is a big place, it was even bigger then, or seemed a lot beger with transportation being what it was then,.
No presidential candidate would had wasted his time to go to a state with a few of thousands votes,
even now Wyoming has only 290K registered voters,
So they devised the Electoral college where you did not care about the popular vote number of that state, but cared about the Electoral votes, because it might be the margin of electoral votes that helped puts a candidate over the top .
There is talk about ending the electoral college, but the smaller rural states would resist it because if it happened they would never see a presidential candidate again. They would . as far as presidential elections go, become inconsequential.

Just a shame it's a bit far and I'm not driving to BKK anymore...
I get it. a bit of a long ride,
Just an idea, to consider.
but a short 45 min flight from kkc, Perhaps make it a weekend with the missus. If I remember correctly they all would ship to your home, and for smaller paintings you might ne able to take in the plane. Oils you could just get the canvas, and have it framed in Khon kaen,

To the UK from Thailand? what's that 12-13 hrs? What a lightweight!!
Try flying to Florida a 32 hr trip. I have done it several times and not once did I kill myself.
My wife tried to kill me a couple of times, but I sleep with one eye open ever since she discovered that she gets to keep my pension after I die.
But that's on me. I never should have told her.

Where is the study?
There is a very easy way to find this,
Simply copy the quote , and paste it in google,
Though I agree with you, a link would have been helpful.
I did the copy and paste thing and below is the link.

Never again.....
Italian women are some of the most beautiful women in the world.
But I don't doubt your report.
It's a shame that in a country full of beautiful women that's all you could get. But at least you got something, so that's a start.

Please take note to whom I was quoting. I did it for a chuckle, sorry if it hit a nerve. As far as the taxes are concerned, I'm not going to alter my spending habits based on fear mongering.
No raw nerve, in fact no nerve at all.
Whenever I am being sarcastic, or cheeky which is almost always
I use the tongue in cheek emoji as above.
But I see your point and retract my statement . I should had seen who you were replying too and the context.

Problem being, foreigners not on marriage extensions get deported for minor offences.
Foreigners on marriage extensions aren't.
also , on a Marriage extension , if one wanted to work on a foreigner allowed trade, one could, where or a retirement visa you can not work.

Don't want to get on a pissing contest with you over who has more money .
I would not call it cheap, I would call it frugal, I did not get where I am by blowing my money on laziness,
My funds earn 5.3% FDIC insured in the US , but hey if you like to have it here for what? .000003%
sure, you know what they say about a fool and his money.
I also wait to see your reaction when you have to pay tax on these funds, you so liberally squander,

Could be related to the incoming tax laws on foreign income. Wife was asked to complete a from at Bangkok bank related to all her income. Didn't take long as she has none. Staff said also related to new tax laws. Since then have not heard of anyone else having to do this. Maybe this is the start, no extension without declaring income and source. TIT
Two years ago I was able to secure a Greek passport. We spend summers there and love it but hated the bureaucracy. They have a similar , foreign income system, and we did not make the move because I did not want to have to move our home, (we are settled here) , prove source of income, and do yearly tax returns. And Greece has many advantages over Thailand.
I speak passable Greek, everyone speaks English . , we both qualify for the national health insurance system for a small yearly fee, have access to the whole EU , No visas, no 90 day reporting, and gyros , glorious Gyros
Anyway if Thailand's system becomes just as bothersome as Greece's, We might have to reconsider our options .

The behaviour and attitude of Immi in different parts of the country is massive, some will allow tweaks to the rules, others don't allow any and even invent their own rules, it's always been this way.
That's true.
As I said, I now do my extension in advance to give me the time to react to any peculiarities

It's 2 months before applying and must remain until you get past the "Under Consideration" period and get your passport stamped; after that it is totally available to withdraw. The agent even pulled out a form that Imm uses to record monthly financials as "proof" I would have to provide...I still declined to give it to her.
First let me say that I am not an expert in this subject, but I also do an extension based on Marriage, in fact I got mine last week (Khon Kaen) , we don't use an agent, we do it ourselves, it is easy, especially after you do your first one.
I have never provided a monthly statement.
In fact last year there was a confusion in my bank deposit. We had recently bought an investment property and some how, (wife was handling the finances) the account fell below the 400k two weeks before I was due to do the extension, so I told the IO . then lets do the monthly income method.
He said , do don't worry just come back in two weeks when the funds are seasoned and we will do an overstay. I express concerns about reproductions , he said not to worry the is the one who handles the issue and no problem,, so two weeks later I paid a small overstay fine and was good to go.
IMO the 2 month seasoning period for the 400k is so that someone who just came to thailand to be with his wife, would have enough time to season the funds before he need to do an extension.
Requiring a whole years deposit would eliminate that option, and no one would be able to do their first extension because no one would be able to open an account and stay here for a year to have a years worth of deposits.
There must be some confusion, either on your part ot the agents part.
I am sure they have a form but it could be the form nessacery to do the income option.
This year I did my extension a month before the due date. I think you can do it 45 days before, It gives you the time to resolve any issues before your due date
Good luck,
I am interested to find out how it worked out for you, so please follow up after your visit.

In preparing our latest annual extension of stay based on marriage, we always submit evidence of 400K+ in the bank to meet the financial requirement. We never use the monthly income method. Now we were told, by an agent, that CM IM wants to also know your monthly income amount and sources. I declined to provide that to the agent and we will see tomorrow if an IO requires this info....never have we ever been asked about my monthly income given we use the 400K+ in the bank method.
I don't think this is true, because you are only required to have the 400k in the bank 2 or three months, I think it is 2 but I am not sure because I keep mine there year round.
Anyway , a monthly income would require a year long statement, and would prevent those who have been here less than a year from getting an extension,

They claim to provide security, not to make the place totally secure, or provide insurance against theft.
They will not pay for your electrical cable, because if they do , they will establish precedent and could be responsible for all thefts.

I was wondering the same, and would like some items to decorate the house. I have not seen anything interesting in Khon Kaen. We plan to take a ride to Bangkok one of these days, I an sure there must be a lot there,
I have not been to Chatuchak market in years so I don't know if they still do, but when I was there last, I saw a lot of what I thought was interesting.

close to the same age difference as you.
If I had to do it over again, I would chose a wife closer to my age,
In general man die earlier than women, add to that the age difference....
The thought that one day , long before her, I will die and leave her alone disturbs me .

Trump says country faces ‘bloodbath’ if Biden wins in November
in World News
Posted
I followed this conversation several pages back step by step.
You will not get anywhere, you are arguing logic, with those who by virtue of their position have very little.
almost every trump supporter reply is a logical fallacy,
They will not follow you to the logical conclusion of your argument.
They remind me of my dogs (dog not meant pejorative) I start walking them and the moment they realise I am taking them for a bath, they put on the brakes and lay down,
Something similar is happening here. They are not interesting in the truth, all they care is protecting their bias.
You are wasting your breath. It will not happen!! From all the years and Thousands of pages, show me once where it has happened.
