How about you take the 4K and pay local people to take the trash off the mountain?! I’m not surprised that there’s still tons of waste in the higher camps because when climbers come back down from the summit they’re utterly spent. They can barely take themselves back to camp IV. How do you expect them to carry 8 kilos of waste? Just introduce a mandatory non-refundable fee of maybe 2000 per climber and hire locals to get the trash! I think it’s stupid to rename it because the guy it is named after has nothing to do with what’s been going on down there for the past decades. Overall you have to count suicides as well, but they die free-willingly, so for the sake of this “argument” I don’t think it’s fair to include these in gun crime. I can speak only for myself, and this is purely hypothetical just to be clear, but I’d never use a gun that’s registered to me to kill anyone, unless I wouldn’t plan on getting away with it and most killers do plan to get away, unless it’s a heat-of-the-moment thing. Also, I don’t think it’s fair to compare a country like the US where they’ve always had the right to bear arms to countries that don’t or never die to the same extant. Then there’s also the Wild West aspect to it as well. It’s a completely different path that lead to where they are now than it was in Europe. They’re so different in the way they think about that than the rest of the world, too. I find it extremely interesting that a country that has only 4% of the world’s population is home to 63 or 68% of the world’s serial killers. Paired with all the mass shooting! Something is seriously off the rails over there. At the end of the day it’s impossible to get rid of all the guns in the US and even if they tried, the black market that’s still alive today would just flourish exponentially, just like the booze black market did back in the 20s. They just need to tighten it up.

In most cases it’s never legally owned guns that are used to commit these type of shootings because they don’t want the guns traced to them . Taking guns away from citizens will mean two things, they’re not capable of defending themselves anymore against shooters and a flourishing black market will pop up. . Just because you ban guns doesn’t mean they will disappear and no one will get shot anymore. That’s a utopian pipe dream. The problem is that a lot of the guns get into the hands of perps during burglaries because people just have them laying around in the house or in the car where they’re accessible, It should be mandatory to have proper gun safes and for guns to have to be stored in one when you leave the house and can’t take the guns with you.
