hmm... my problem which I need advice on - is NewYork Times just scam-billed me for the next year's subscription, even though i cancelled in December. their subscription service says -'for Asia Pacific call this number in OZ - except the number is not functioning. the alternative is to call the 1-800 number in the US. someone here suggested using Skype. can you use Skype to do that?

i can't answer that. But i have 2 related questions. i have TOT's 1Gbps down/500 Mb up package. #1: on my Android smart Sony TV, there is no buffering on YouTube. But, just recently, Netflix buffers all the time. #2: speed testing on my tablet, i get 650 down, 450 up, (with my Proton VPN turned on). I have read many posts on different threads and still have the question, does having your VPN 'on' affect the incoming signal from Netflix. ? tia

hopefully this is on topic - i use TOT/NT. I was getting buffering (throttling?) on my newish TV (Sony Bavaria) - only when i am watching Netflix. Service guys came, did a speed test. replaced my ISP receiver with a new one. download speed increased from 250 to 650 Mps. it did not fix the problem. any suggestions. my TOT package is 1Gbs/500Mbs fibre. other TOT users in my village with a lower download package report no problem with Netscape. viewing. with an increased sub fee coming - i am seriously thinking of dumping Netflix and relying 100% on streaming

my Line app deleted access for the past 12 months chat messages (back and forward), between me and a friend. i did not select to back up into my Google storage. So i cannot restore from that source. the only unusual actions i took in the past week are: (i) i changed my google address in my profile from Thailand to Canada, as i was getting p/o'd with Google constantly opening a new search screen in Thai language and (ii) i set up a Line contact in my own name (to save 2 photos/docs I received from the same friend) . any advice please? tia

Let me raise your bid: our group of 12 investors took great care to pay by instalments/phases of completion. no problem there. a Thai/Uk group held the land title, whilst individual leases were being registered, as apartments, on 30 year leases. 12 investors = 12 sets of Thai based International lawyers reviewed and approved the deal. developer sold the land a 2nd time, (to a well known Phuket businessman) using a common loop hole called 'sale or redemption'. we had 6 months to raise 16 million, to repay the business man for his 12 million loan to the developer. (the interest rate %, alone, is illegal) . 5 years and tears later and 3 million in legals, to get to the steps of the Supreme Court. result: it refused to hear the case on the grounds (in writing) that 'it was not in the best interests of the common good of Thailand'. maybe i should FB that story. 5 mill each, down the Phuket scam krap hole, plus the legals. water under the bridge, now . The nature of this post is intended to be of good intent, and in the best interests of the public good. ( my CYA expression for a farang criticising the judicial system).

thanks. i've followed your advice and Dr Jack's. I've been transferring in 65k + every month x 13 months and at the same time following the 800k rules. OA Visa Extension is due on Feb 12. I was so keen to get my hands on that 800k, during the past year. now when i look at the SET (where I invest for dividend income) i am really lucky that i was unable to invest that money last year. the SET is a very unhealthy place, at the best of times.

Excuse me going off topic a bit - to support what i posted, the several instances which i have heard of were, unfortunately, the wife becoming addicted to gambling. in another very sad instance (i know, ethers always just one story like this - the wife had a very minor gambling habit, had a stroke, while her farang husband was travelling abroad for months on end . she needed to borrow 200k from local people (not mafia). they used the same legal/contractual paperwork that was used to cause me to lose my apartment in Phuket. It is called a ''sale or redemption''. she forgot about (or was too ill to remember) the 3 or 6 month repayment deadline. So she lost the house and land. meanwhile while she was ill, her best friend (our massage lady, which is how we were privy to this story) just ignored her situation. the classic ''up to you''. i do not want to overstate this - but in my case (and my fellow investors, in the project) and in this poor lady's case - there is no land title protection in Thailand . There are laws prohibiting excessive interest rates/protecting the rights of land owners. But, should you wife borrow on the land & hands over the Chanoet, you are screwed.
