Yingluck Shinawatra Hints at Return Amid Legal Victories
paddypower replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
let me list a couple of expensive ''blunders'' by these 2 keystone cop rascals: 1. besides his initial brilliance as PM, Thaksin earned a TON of money, by ''acquiring'' the satellite bands, owned by Thailand and managed by the Military; which he mysteriously ''acquired''. Then, he was off to AIS heaven. Which he subsequently sold control off, illegally, to Telemask, a foreign entity. Both acts were treasonous. Yingluck? came up with (i) the tablet for every child (seen any lately?);(ii) the 100k grant to sucker Thais into buying a new car and go into further debt (iii) and the rice deal ? how much of Thailand's wealth lost - US$20 BILLION +. now, the 10 years old rice, left after that clustfruck, is being mixed with new rice and sold to Africa. Result: The reputation of Thailand rice being #1 in the world is permanently destroyed. All by 2 people with the same surname: Shinawatra. living her 26 years, I have learned the philosophy of how damaging hate is to one's self. But, if you love this country and its people, it is hard not to hate this family. -
I had to overnight in Surathani town , to get my car serviced. I went out for a couple of beers with a friend and her friends. all singles, early 30's. a mix of men and women. They spoke limited English. we chatted about music and jobs,, 2 guys had taxis - one was a Grab taxi, the other had managed to own a car. the women were usually sales clerks in retail shops. they earn approx. 12.5k-16k a month. the higher number includes sales commission the lower figure means no or very little commission earned in a month. most of these Thais were single. some lived with parents, had a boyfriend or girl friend. one of the others was divorced with 2 kids at school. rented a house and was making car payments. no support from the ex-husband (which apparently is normal). The singles - I can see managing fine, (just about). Had a good time, practiced my limited Thai and split - as I'm married. I did squeeze out of the the single mother, that, yes, maybe she was in debt (mafia loans) . Despite high schooling, she was happy to pay 10% interest per month on her loans.? I and my expat wife have lived here for 26 years. This was a first for me, to see how younger Thais live. my question is - are these salaries typical for socially capable of working in a senior retail sales job, respectably dressed Thai adults (men and women). cheers,

the other answer to watch out for is ''i will call my Professor in Bangkok and get back to you''. 🙂

i get around that by accepting 5-10 pills on RX. then i check with my wholesale pharma outlet. they usually have the same pills cheaper, or a Thai Govt generic versions. we spend +/- 12k a month, wholesale prices. obviously, the wholesaler cannot sell prescribed narcotic meds. but as posted earlier, you can buy Seroxat/Co-approvel/Lamictal /Wafarin, my cholesterol and heart meds.....etc. (just about any anti-depressant). Last month, i was just was advised by my pharma that there is a generic version of Lamictal priced at 40% less.

will that cover the 2 of you to fly 'United air' ?

first things first....your bank balance. 🙂

me too...plus a copy of my most recent or a new annual check up. my mistake 25 years ago, was dealing with a Thai agent. we didn't understand each other. so he ended up listing 2 pre-existing conditions for my wife which did not exist at that time. ironically, one of those conditions arose (floaters in the eyes) due to age (20 years later). once you make any mistakes, such as ticking off the wrong box on the list of pre-existing conditions, on your ins app, you are stuck with it for life. I know - my responsibility. 🙂

Line app. How to 'Leave' a chat? (not group chat)
paddypower replied to JeffersLos's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
thanks - that worked out ok. are all these apps making us paranoid 🙂 -
to spell it out for you: Thai insurers do not check for existing conditions, unless you list them on your application form. obviously, you do not indicate that you have an Oz insurer. That said, you do have to be careful - and report honestly any medical treatment you had in Oz in recent years.

agree. but (there's always a 'but'). my ENT spotted early stage cancerous on my vocal chords (in 1999) On my most recent annual scope test, she read my annual ck up results from Surat's Thakisn hospital. (a VERY reasonable priced program). blood in urine - referred me to an urologist for a bladder scope. no probs. but i am very happy to pay for this level of preventative care.

what a way to go 🙂 i had a weird post to my Line this am, from someone with similar ''qualifications'' ' can Line be hacked?
-
the international hospitals are not cheap.if you have ins. - if youre uninsured, your post a is a bit irrelevant. one thing i've noticed is due to the aging population of Thais (at least those with ins) and expats - knee and hip replacements have become as common as sliced bread.

you sound American 😉

extra question: when i get a notification of a new incoming chat /message (Line, Whats App, etc) is the only way to reduce the notification sound by turning off the volume button ? -
Line app. How to 'Leave' a chat? (not group chat)
paddypower replied to JeffersLos's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
thanks. I tried that. for a few lines, more old charts got listed. let's say i am a ''nervous nelly''. Swiping and deleting - might that not delete the original chats,, which are important to me. ( i'm asking on behalf of a friend's g/f ) 🙂 -
although this has been covered, i prefer to keep a hard copy of the photo page and most current retirement visa extension stamp in my ''man bag''. which now weighs so much it should be registered as a ''weapon of mass destruction'' . altho' off topic, i also carry one plasticized copy of each of the merchant's bills i deal with where i have membership. I'm getting old. often i forget to take the Makro card with me. a copy of a Makro bill is always accepted. Ditto with presenting a copy of a bill, with the tax number of my company, for obtaining tax receipts at Home Pro, Thaiwatasadu, etc. etc.

Line app. How to 'Leave' a chat? (not group chat)
paddypower replied to JeffersLos's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
Hi all LINE users. I need advice, about the ''search'' function. whilst on a chat with one friend, i entered BANK at the search function ( i was trying to locate bank details this friend sent to me).. Instead of listing only the chats with the word 'bank' the app listed 100% of our chats.i started deleting some of this. but i think i am on the wrong track. i removed the word 'bank' from the search function and keyed in the search function again. nothing changed. now i cannot continue with my chat. (this only applies to this one friend. how to reverse the results of a search? many thanks in advance. -
I'll wager the opposite - continuing under-performance of the Thai baht, regardless of rate changes by the US FedEx. this Pua Thai coalition is trying its best to be more incompetent than the coup makers. i keep my pension coming in to a Canadian bank account. so that I can monitor FX rates, before transferring the 65k monthly. this allows me to earn 10% tax free in Thailand, on what used to be my 800k.
