  1. Look at him, look at her.

Everyone can see what's gonna happen ........ except him.

Question from interviewer, "What would you say to people that want to come here?"

Answer from me, "Don't marry a woman 1/3 your weight and 1/2 your age and expect her to love you or be trustworthy"

    This isn't rocket science.

I dont agree.it's a case when enough is never enough.greed perhaps.now she has nothing and doing 4 years.

  2. got very mad, so I shot her. I didn't mean to hurt her,

How can you shoot someone and not mean to hurt them?

    ...only in Disneyland

It's the same with sexual assault, thai men blame it on the fact that they felt horny and could n't control their urges. They're brought up to believe their women " are just hanging around begging to be assaulted".Blame it on the matriarchal society and weak father's.

  3. Just thinking outside the box. I've just blow the hell out of a public place killing and maiming a lot of people. CCTV catches my escape. I've had days to get the heck out of Dodge. Why I'm I still in my room with a bunch of materials that could be used for bomb making. Personally, especially considering the media was saying there was not a good CCTV coverage, I'd be in a different country, and back to whatever sick terror cell I came from. But no! The "Suspect" stays. Like one of the previous posters said. Wait and see.

    was thinking the same

  4. If the OP is in a depressed state i cannot see a teaching job being any help at all.teaching is not easy, i would think you need to be well balanced. But writing online sounds a better option, lots of advice has been given here.

Sounds to me the OP has stubbornly refused to entertain the idea of leaving thailand(he will not be alone there)i think its called "thai fever",so, as another poster suggested, ask a thai friend for a place to sleep, and hopefully feed you which will give you breathing space. Not sure what to do about your landlord you said his patience was running out and he could turn you in to immigration.

  5. Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha called the bombing "the worst incident" to ever hit the country, saying, "this time they aimed for innocent lives. They want to destroy our economy, our tourism."

You already did that your self with your greed and non safety .... You made the bed, now lie in it ...

You have to be joking ! The man saved the country from imminent (that means "soon") civil war and brought much needed stability to the country.

    I agree with you

  6. Bomb was intended to kill?

Now that is what I call ..a very helpful piece of info.

I think he meant that it was a very powerful explosive,so the intention was to kill.Other bombs have been planted with intention to scare or make a statement, here i am thinking of the car bomb placed in a car in a shopping centre on koh samui.

Maybe i just saw the police statement in a different way.

  7. # 86

All well to criticize but do you have an alternative or a remedy?

Being in Thailand for 13+ years (& being 67yo), I have had a few hospitalizations.

My experiences have not always been # 1 but overall I am satisfied with the Thai medical service.

When I compare them with my native country (Oz), my comparison favors Thailand.

My only whinge is the charge for medication.

As you know you can always refuse the hospital pharmacy if you think the price is too high and you are pretty sure you can buy elsewhere.

included in recent medication given to me were two packs sa ra at 60 baht per strip(711...10 baht each)..i just laughed and politely declined, same for anti biotics, you can get from pharmacy outside of the hospital.

  8. So let me get this straight - whilst this devaluation affects virtually every other country in the world.....Thailand alone stands imperious to this change?

Thankfully, it would appear that outside the junta's sphere of influence there are those who don't share this point of view...

    http://www.nationmultimedia.com/opinion/Chinas-currency-devaluation-Thailands-economic-nig-30266475.html

do these people in the government think that if they say something is OK often enough, it will be OK????

the answer is YES,just like they come out with future tourist numbers after a fall off.

  9. This happened yesterday, and they are certain this won't have any effect?

These weekly diatribes from the army/govt. is the same as TAT...its for thai domestic consumption, who understand nothing,we on the other hand know better. And it will be good news for us as the thai baht has to weaken to stay competitive.

  10. I see that an increase of the GST is being considered despit Abbotts promise pre election that there would be no increase. Despite it's political unpopularity I think its a foregone conclusion, wouldn't be surprised if it was 5% or more. That would make Australia one of the most expensive countries in the World to live.

maybe it already is!...there was talk of doubling the medicare payment when putting in tax returns, but an increase in GST would be easier. Both labour and libs new this deficit was coming since 2008...mining tax and carbon tax both ditched..........easier to tax the masses.

  11. If not for the presence of the Donald, the numbers of Americans paying attention to this primary would be a fraction of what it is now.

No one can seriously argue that some of these candidates possess much charisma, or the ability to get people's attention the way the Donald can.

Sure, some GOP folks are crying, but these are the people who have seen their idiotic agendas pushed aside in favour of the Donald's platform of vivid dreams and platitudes. The Donald offers hope and glory and draws people to these "debates" which would otherwise be rather boring events.

I believe that the GOP leadership is grateful for the Donald's presence. It is an attention grabber, and every time the Donald says something off-colour, it allows the PC brigade so, oh no we don't agree. At this time the Donald is all upside for the GOP. He's forcing the other candidates to work harder, and that is a good thing. The Donald is saying a lot of things that Americans of all political affiliations are thinking and saying. He has his faults, and he has his warts, and he's a boor, but he's a heck of a lot more honest and decent than some of the folks he's campaigning against in the primary. He might be a pompous rich guy, but he has more in common with the regular American than the other candidates.

I wish him all the best. thumbsup.gif

you've hit the nail on the head....it's keeping the other GOP candidates alive. For me bernie sanders makes more sense than any of them.

  12. The world is going to become a much more interesting place when Trump becomes President, which I believe he will if he can see off Hillary.

The panel tried their hardest to shoot him down last night, which i thought unfair as they did not do that in such a forthright way with the others

I also like Ted Cruz from Texas, he has done a great job there by the sounds of it

True, The panel were obviously anti Trump, but he beat them anyway.

Cruz lost me with his Israeli bias. What does Israel have to do with electing an American President?

but carries a lot of potential votes.

  13. I once flew a Virgin short haul discount flight for the convenience,

while booking the ticket i became apprehensive and red flags kept

popping up as i scrolled down the page to complete the booking,

it kept asking if i wanted add ons, i thought this is ridiculous,

i have never had the experience of choosing to pay for a drink

and peanuts and given the option to pay for a blanket and then

being on a flight where the cabin temperature was set at 10*C

and when i offered to buy a blanket i was told ''we have run out''

i will never fly low budget from AUSTRALIA ever, although AirAsia

are quite good, so i figure the Virgin staff should have a new

welcome message, like this ''mooooo welcome to the Virgin

    Atlantic cattle truck'' more appropriate.

Virgin no different to air asia in regard to booking the seat you want, the meal you want and blanket. The offered special super duper price always ends up costing 30% more when you click to pay unless you have baggage under 7kg,dont want to eat, dont care where you sit and rug up to the arctic conditions inside the cabin.

Personally i would rather go back in time when flying was more expensive, less seats and more leg room, free food and booze, and less chance of encountering idiots who do not know how to behave or do not how to consider others.

  14. Good grief. In my first post I said I was trying to slow down. I am doing that as best I can, thanks for the support. However people tell me to slow down, so they haven't read my post. Other people haven't read my post:

I got told that I was in denial. No I'm not, that's why I came to this forum to find out, to quote my words:

"So the question is, is this going to hold up or is it too early to tell?

Anybody done anything similar? Or have other advice?"

I was not asking to be preached to about responsibility towards my family: I should have thought that it was evident from my post that I do feel responsible. Nobody is suffering around me, not a word of complaint from the wife, she is supportive.

I was told three times to go to a gym, I have, three times, explained why that is neither possible or necessary.

I am now drinking one beer at 11.30, my meal time, followed by a siesta. By the time I have started off to school I will have had two more small beers, spread out over the previous 3 hours. '

For me this is a major step. I may well follow the advice of one poster to try one day a week without beer at all, now that makes the heart flutter.

If I have read aright, one can of beer needs about 90 minutes to get out of your system. Of course, it still goes through my liver but at least I am more or less sober. i can't say I feel better or worse for having reduced drinking, I never had a hangover for years.

well ok "is this going to hold up"..or "is it too early to tell"...i dont know, but my advice to you is take 1 day at a time, make yourself small goals to achieve and pat yourself on the back when you have been successful.

  15. OP, first you have to ask and answer yourself 1 question.

Why do you need to drink?

Do not answer me, answer yourself.

If you can identify the reason for drinking , you might be able to eliminate the problem.

If the answer is because you enjoy it, then it's much harder .

I would cut out all drinking daytime and only drink in the evening, perhaps start with gym or some other sport to keep your mind off beer.

good idea, keeping mind occupied on something else, meditating, drinking water between beers too.but its always a struggle, any addiction.Especially when you enjoy the substance. You could think about the harm it is doing to others, you are showing love right now by trying to cut down, just keep at it and be patient with your success to date.

  16. They have a valid point.

No, they don't. This is everything that is wrong with the Muslim faith. Everything is an indignation to their religion and they want special treatment, special laws, even though they don't live in a Muslim country. They are entitled to equal protection, and so is the developer of the bacon factory. If they can prove actual damage from air, water, noise or any other kind of pollution, they can take this matter up through the political (not much protection from zoning laws) or legal process. Claims that this is some kind of indignation of their religion, a violation of their livelihood or infringe on their practice of Islam are specious and not actionable.

you are so right, what ever happened to tolerance?why do they always demand special treatment, they are like spoiled children. So there's a bacon factory down the road,so what! They dont like pork?well i dont like burger king, but i dont demand that it should be moved.

  17. The British empire plundered their colonies for centuries . Makes sense people wanna go to Britain , cause it's there that their riches is. Payback time.

If even walking through the chunnel is impossible , then only one option left : swim 20 km...

The BIG problem with Thailand was and is , that it was Never part of The British Empire, had it of been part, then people here would know about democracy, would know how to run an election. would know how to run a law abiding police force and know how to train their armed forces... They might even know how to build a road properly .. The Romans taught the British. The British taught the world. Answer me one question... what is the language of the world..? And why would that be...

    thailand's problem is misguided pride.

cant keep blaming the past. They wanted their independence, fair enough, then went back to their tribal way of governing. We gave them aid, they then put it in overseas bank accounts.

Like kids blaming their parents for their failings in life, but its not true.
