Rain
in Chiang Mai
Finally, some good news:
"Thailand’s drought-stricken farmers got a rare bit of good news Monday, when a pair of sacred bulls predicted that the heavens would finally open during the upcoming rainy season. The bovine prophecy came during the kingdom’s much-watched annual royal ploughing ceremony, an ancient rite officially marking the start of the main rice cultivation season."

Out of interest what did they predict last year so we can check their accuracy

Just seen a post on my wife's Facebook showing a big fire on Doi Suthep - anyone else seen this?
Hopefully nobody has been hurt
By the looks of things though there'll be a load more <deleted> in the air tomorrow:(

There are rules for applying for a retirement extension.People married to Thai spouses can simply get retirement visas, you know. There's no rule that says they HAVE
to get a marriage visa.
Have to be 50 or over and 800000 baht in a Thai bank or the equivalent pension income of 65000 baht a month or a bit of both. You will be surprise the amount of 50s and overs that don`t have the 800000 baht.
Interesting.
Surprise us and tell us how many.

Rain

Heavy rain, thunder and lightening in San Patong

Here's another thought - if the rainy season banishes the haze can the governor claim he has fulfilled his duty
-
Hmm - make the haze problem a national agenda just as the rainy season is starting and the problem will go away for another year - what're the chances it'll be forgotten about until March next year?

Rain
in Chiang Mai
It's thundering and raining in San Patong - will you be posting pictures of your devices in the khlong? My weather app on my Macbook Pro indicates rainstorms everyday for the next week. Sadly, the online weather forecasts say no rain at all, ever.
If AppleMac comes thru with the rain I'll throw my PC/Androids in the khlong.

Look under a rock
Last I heard from you you were posting how much you hated your time in Chiang Mai and how wonderful it was to be gone
Obviously your new life is so fulfilling that you still read and comment on a forum about a place you hate
I look forward to reaching a similar enlightened place in my life

Yes, we wanted some Thai food but I like the look of Chez Marco and it's definitely on the list. Thank you
Marco's is great nosebag. You should note however that he's closed from 13-17 April.
I like the food at Marco's but the artwork not so much

Hi,
If you have an original iPad then the latest version of iOS it can run is iOS 5.1
-
Okay - Classic Burger has had its time in the spotlight - some people like it, some people dislike it (surprise!) and some people are upset that others disagree with them (bigger surprise!)
Can we have a new contender for discussion / dissection ?
-
Already seen them at a couple of major junctions - a good thing too (although in the short term there may be a few more rear-enders)

A re entry permit would cease to be valid once the extension it relates to ends.
Thanks - I had a feeling that would be the case
-
I may be in a similar situation later in the year - would my only way of controlling the date that my BOI extension ends be to resign from the job rather than waiting for them to end it?
Also would my multi-entry re-entry permission still be valid or would I have to pay for a new one?
-
Wonder why you were here in the first place

It's funny - my wife can get a Schengen Visa for next to nothing, a sheet of A4 and a copy of my passport because she's married to an EU citizen. Same for an Irish visa. But to get a UK visa (my home country) the amount of paperwork and the cost is ridiculous
Last time we got a 5 year tourist visa to stop the incessant trips down to Bangkok

Unfortunately I'm a non-bitter European so I can't help you out
I've checked with all my European friends in Chiang Mai and they're all non-bitter as well, as are my antipodean and American friends - seems there is only one bitter person here
